Corinne: "My mother was at Brookdale Portage. The quality of care went down. The place was rundown physically and was in need of a makeover. They have some activities, but they're limited because they're short staffed. The food was OK, but nothing special. Some of the staff members were very kind, but there just wasn't enough of them. She's in memory care. I was paying a lot more money and getting less in this place than where she is now."

They have an activities director, so there are several things to choose from every day. It was clean and well-maintained. The management was very involved in keeping care plans updated, and the staff was updated almost daily of any changes in the residents' status. They also have a couple of doctors who would visit, as well as a nurse. The residents needed to... (read more)
