I visited this facility

I went to look at Parkway Village. It was a good experience. I put it at the top of my list. I looked at the villas and the cottages. They all had the room I wanted, more so than was offered in other communities that I went to. The person who drove me around in a little golf cart knew the names of the people who were out walking or just sitting outside their places. She knew them all, and it was very impressive. Their villas and cottages have four kitchens.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your very kind words. We are so thrilled that you had a positive experience during your tour. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have further questions. We hope to be able to visit with you again soon. Just as a clarification, all our independent living--cottages, villas, and apartments do have full kitchens.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is currently at Parkway Village. It's excellent. It's very homey. It's warm. It's got a fireplace in the large living area. It's just a nice, good atmosphere. The staff is excellent. They're registered nurses, and they take very good care of my mom. They play bingo, they have dog visits, and they have painting and music. The food, from what I understand and what I've seen so far, is very good. They have a very clean, very nice, and inviting dining room.

Provider Response

Keith, Thank you so much for your very kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to provide these wonderful and encouraging comments. We are thrilled to have the honor and privilege of caring for your Mother.

I visited this facility

Parkway Village offers three levels of care. They have a swimming pool, which is nice. They accept pets. They are refurbishing all of their units when people move in and completely modernizing them. They were in the process of completely renovating their dining room and kitchen when I was there. The staff was friendly.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Parkway Village has SO much going for it (the setting is beautiful, it's location is incredible as far as shopping, restaurants) but since the new administration and chef, it's going downhill. Since my mother moved in they have eliminated having a second meal available to residents; they chose to begin this at the same time they put the entire facility on lockdown for COVID-19. So not only did they get one meal a day, the second one was taken from them. Residents were told to order groceries instead over the phone. Not acceptable. When you keep residents from going to the grocery store the very least you could do is offer them more than one (disgusting) meal a day. Which brings me to the food quality. I had a meal with my mother when I visited and couldn't believe they were serving this to paying residents. It wasn't edible and threw it away. Not sure where they found him/her but the food is horrible. And this is not just one person's opinion; ask around the complex and other residents will tell you the same. Another reason my mother loved it at first was having the medical staff on campus should an emergency arise. You'd pull a cord in your bathroom, bedroom, etc and they would send help. No more. Now emergencies are automatically forwarded to 9-1-1. So another service they're being denied yet paying for. Lastly I've noticed the number of empty cottages, apartments; it's a shame since the facility is such a lovely one. Elderly people are so vulnerable as it is; living in a facility that they know they're being taken advantage of must be the reason there are so many vacancies. There are too many others out there to compete with that DO go through with their promises and sadly Parkway Village does not.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Started in the 1980’s Parkway has been around a long time. It is undergoing some revocation especially the cottages, duplexes and apartments. The redone units look very nice. Food here is excellent with lunch and dinner available on most days. What activities they have are good. Not as many as I would have liked. Bridge and water volleyball are two. The buy in is expensive and the monthly fee is not cheap. You do get meals, security and some transportation to appointments. Do your research before committing. Find out what plans Baptist Health has for the future of Parkway Village.

Provider Response

Thank you for your review! In addition to meals, 24-hour security, and transportation, the monthly fee covers all home maintenance inside and outside, most utilities, yard care, dwelling insurance, property taxes, and much more. We have a comparison sheet on our website where a prospective resident can compare current living expenses to living at Parkway Village.

I visited this facility

Parkway Village is my first choice. I had lunch there. They were very nice, and I liked that you could buy into it. They had an activity calendar. The location was easy to get to from my house. I was very impressed with the gateman. He was very courteous, seemed to recognize that I was there before, and knew what was going on and who was going in and out. I didn’t meet anybody there I wasn’t impressed with.

Provider Response

Thank you for your review! We are very glad you had a great experience here.

You have to pay a very large buy-in fee at Parkway Heights - Parkway Village, and then you have to still pay back a monthly rental fee, so it's like you're buying a cottage, but still paying rent for it (so I didn't like that). They only serve two meals a day and you have to walk from your cottage to your main house which, depending on where your cottage is, can be quite far away. If it were raining, snowing, or if you're old, it wouldn't be very appealing. The cottage is large and nice, but that buy-in fee is what troubled me. The person who gave me the tour was OK, but wasn't really outgoing. They have an indoor pool. Most of the residents I saw around the main building were really older people and I can't see them getting into that swimming pool.

My parents have been in Parkway Village since April. We like it because it has more of a country atmosphere. They go shopping and do swimming activities. They have a swimming pool, pool tables, exercise room, beauty shop, and small convenience store inside. They provide an on-site physician, three meals a day, and shuttle service. The staff is very friendly.

Parkway Heights - Parkway Village is a very nice, older community. Some of the facilities are a little outdated, but it's small, and my father gets lots of attention. He is with familiar people and some friends, so we decided not to move him. They have activities almost every day. They have a library, an activity room, a lounge, a fitness center that's on the campus, a swimming pool, cafeteria, and dining room.

I'm in Parkway Heights in Parkway Village. After I visited it, I was really impressed with it, and now I have been here three weeks now. I have one large room with a bathrom and a little side room with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and pantry area, and I was impressed with the size of the refrigerator and microwave. I am just very satisfied and very pleased.

I visited this facility

I visited Baptist Health Care. I thought it was pleasant that it was a gated little community, and they had houses in. They had separate care facilities for the memory care and other assisted care. They had a lot of choices depending on the level of care needed. They also had separate house units like duplexes. The staff seemed very pleasant. They escorted me around and showed me different rooms. I thought they had an excellent memory care facility. However, the assisted care, to me, seemed to be dark and dingy. I thought they needed more lighting, or their windows were too covered, because it seemed like there were dark and uninviting parts of the assisted care.

I visited this facility

When I went to visit this assisted living facility with one of my friends, I was so impressed of how nice the area was. When drove passed the gated area, it appeared to look as if we were in a residential neighborhood, which I thought this was really great. There were homes or apartments building all around the community, which I was so delighted to see. There were some people walking, walking their dogs, riding bikes and even driving. Next, we went inside to visit her family member. The inside of their home was really nice and clean. At the time someone was over from the facility area cleaning the facility. Next, I asked my friend what do they do if they have an emergency and she told me that they could call someone and usually people drive around throughout the day to make sure they are safe, which is great. Also, they have a choice of where they can go to the dining area at the facility or they can have dinner at home. While we were visiting the staff members came by many times to see if we needed help with anything, which was really nice. All the staff members were nice and great about greeting along with introducing themselves. Also, they always reminded us as well as her family member that they were available if we needed any help. Last but not least, the facility even had many activities as well for them to be apart of. I would definitely recommend this facility.
