I have lived at Friendship Village for 19 years. I love my cottage, and through the years the services have been very appropriate and flexible for my needs. The staff and residents are like a family to me!

I checked out Friendship Village Tempe. It's not just independent or just assisted living, they have levels. There's a buy-in, which is also nice, so you're not being asked to pay for extras that you hadn't anticipated. There's a whole range of activities. The people I observed seem really happy there, and I talked to a couple of people, and they've been there quite a while, and are very happy. Friendship Village Tempe is also adding on, so there's going to be a new addition, which is going to be just beautiful. Everyone was very, very cordial, and friendly there. I didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff, just a couple of people, and they did the tour. I visited the kitchen area and those places, and found them very clean and very friendly. Everyone waved and said hi. I can't even list all the activities, there's a ton of them. There's an on-demand concierge service, so they'll take you places, they bring in people, and they have events there. We didn't have a chance to try the food, but I have a friend that lives there with his wife, and he loves the food. It's a nice place, but we're not ready. I didn't see anything glaring. I hate to rate them lower than excellent because my impression of Friendship Village Tempe in the time I was there was excellent.

I visited Friendship Village a few years ago with my sister when she was considering it. It was on my list too, so I was out there a month or so ago. I've talked to a few of the staff members there and what I appreciated about Friendship Village was there were many long-term employees. Some people had been there for 23 years. I think that tells a lot about an organization. They all are friendly, smiling, and helpful, and say that they enjoy working there. I met a staff member for each of their different departments or units. There are a lot of options there. I like the friendliness of the staff and all of the residents. There were people out walking the grounds. There were a lot of people out there, residents and staff. Everybody just seemed happy. I have eaten there twice, and the food was excellent. They have their main dining area where you go up and select your food and come back to your table. You had a very good selection, a large salad bar, and there were like four different entrees. They have certain hours that they are open for meals. A lot of people were eating there, and they all seemed happy.

We toured Friendship Village Tempe. This is an older community. They're now building new apartments. There used to be small bungalows scattered throughout the property. The buildings themselves were kind of tired. I'm anxious to go back and see the new apartments. I saw the dining area and it looked fine. The property itself was maintained. It's just they had these older bungalows that just needed to be replaced. The staff who gave me the tour was delightful. She's probably one of the most regular ones who follow up. They have a good number of activities. They had somebody in charge of creating a new calendar each month. It was very diverse. People weren't getting bored there. They thoroughly enjoyed that they signed up to spend the rest of their life there. They found it quite enjoyable.

I moved to Friendship Village 10/1/2020...pretty much the middle of the pandemic. My primary reason for choosing the Village the option to have a cottage (they come in duplexes, triplexes and quads) that I could renovate any way I wanted. I originally moved into a one-bedroom unit while my two-bedroom unit was being upgraded. Although it took 6 months (including a 2-month wait for Tempe to approve a permit), it was well worth the wait. The Village has accommodated my every wish. Although I haven't participated in any Village activities (due to covid restrictions), I have thoroughly enjoyed having my meals delivered. The staff is friendly and efficient. The residents have also welcomed me and made me feel that this is a move I should have made years ago. Recently the Village opened up for visitors which has been welcomed by all residents. I highly recommend Friendship Village Tempe to anyone looking for the perfect retirement setting.

We're in the process of moving into Friendship Village Tempe. We will have a cottage and it's in a large park full of other cottages, and it's big enough but not too big. It's near a lot of places and we yearn for that, so this satisfies that very nicely. The food seemed very good and the staff is very helpful. The place is very nice.

I visited Friendship Village Tempe, but the buy-in turns me off completely. They try to talk you into buying, and it's totally ridiculous because they go by how much money you have. The place was nice. They had a lot of things going on. The person who gave us the tour was nice. I saw the dining area where they had a buffet. If you like salad you can eat yourself silly, but there's nothing else I would eat. I liked a lot of their activities. They had a beading class where they do jewelry and watercolor painting, but there wasn't anything unusual compared to other places.

We had been to Friendship Village and were very impressed. The people were very friendly. They had a lot of facilities and casita housing, which was a nice feature that we were looking for other than an apartment. The staff was very helpful.

The name of the facility suits Friendship Village because there's a lot of camaraderie. It's a 42-acre gated community with a library, auditorium, and concerts, and has anything and everything accessable by transportation, like banking and restaurants. You don’t have to worry about your parents being taken advantage of there. The small condos and apartments were very spacious, adequate, and had a lot of beautiful, natural lighting. They also had covered parking, a fitness center, a pool, and a beauty salon. The way facility was presented to us was really impressive. It’s immaculate, very neat, and tidy with very pleasant and congenial people. Mom will be moving in on 1st of May, and they allow pets so she could take her dog right outside the sliding glass door.

Friendship Village is a good experience. The surroundings are very nice, and the rooms seem to be a good size compared to a lot of places. They had a helpful and friendly tour guide that took us to the rooms. I have tried the food; there was lots of it, and it was very good. They seem to have the usual like they have a card rooms, exercise room, a pool, and ping pong.

Friendship Village was very clean and the people all looked happy. They had lots of activities, and they certainly have plenty of food -- more than what we were planning on. The food was probably very good; it was buffet style and I don’t particularly like the food style, but they had other options. It was a very big place; there were all sorts of clubs, games, and sporting activities. The grounds were very well kept; it was green and they had enough property. If you could be a lot worse, they are within very close proximity to a hospital, and they also had rehab care facility, but it was too expensive for us.

I visited Friendship Village and I thought it was really great, but it was expensive. They had a waiting list and I just didn't realize they were many rich people. From my point of view, it's a paradise in old age. It's a high scale operation. The place is almost like a high class hotel. They have transportation available. I felt that the staff who entertained me was very diplomatic and very informative.

Friendship Village is a very nice assisted living facility. It is very attractive and open, with beautiful landscaping and architecture. The community is gated with a security guard. Upon entry, the security guard will call a golf cart to take you to the apartment you are visiting because no non-resident vehicles are allowed. The staff members are very helpful and pleasant. The apartments themselves are a little on the small side, but very well-maintained and livable. The residents are able to call 24 hours a day for personal assistance or for apartment maintenance. There is an available fitness center as well as a swimming pool, restaurants, stores, and a library. There are also activities scheduled daily for the residents to take part in if they choose. The residents seem to be very pleased with this facility and it is not unusual to see a lot of residents out at the various stores and activity centers.

We are retiring from a ranch life in Colorado and we toured this community. It's a very nice place indeed. It's first class. The food though is not as good as I hoped it to be but nonetheless it's very satisfactory. It's nice for the fact that we have some friends there and would love to be with them. However, I find the climate in Arizona too hot.
