We went to Vi at Grayhawk. We liked it the most, but they didn't have big enough rooms. They had casitas, but we didn't want a casita. We want to be where we'll meet lots of people and walk out the door and bump into somebody. The staff were all very nice. The lady that gave us the tour was very, very nice. We liked her. We would have gone there just because we liked her. We had lunch there, it was very good. They all looked good and smelled good. We kind of observed several of the rooms that they had activities in, people playing cards and doing different things. They had a table with a puzzle.

Moving date changed a few times. The place was absolutely dirty when they turned over the key. Took months till they fixed and corrected all problems. Salesperson was not cooperative at all and rude. 2 weeks after we moved in the pandemic hit. We did not get our Covid vaccines right away while other senior centers already got theirs. My husband had a surgery in hospital mid 2021 , after the surgery he was transferred to skilled nursing care on the premises.. Thes staff were unfriendly and the care was almost none! The overnight nurse told him don’t call me I don’t have time for you ! The nurse opened the catheter and urine spilled on the carpet . Not only he didn’t attempt to clean it he stepped right in it and walked all over the carpet. The room itself had nothing pleasant and had a tv that didn’t work good. The food was not good either. During the Covid they closed all Activities and didn’t have anything going on for a longtime. The management staff there very unfriendly and dry. Never looked at us when went by them to say hi Mr or Mrs…..just cold feeling. The only people were friendly were dining room and concierge staff . Also the residents were very nice.

This facility looks great but it is aging so major repairs and renovations are continuous. Extremely noisy Monday-Friday from 8-5. Staff is friendly and there are many planned activities. Common areas are on the small size so if you want to escape your apartment it can be difficult to find a spot that is not in use. The apartments are nice with good floor plans and ample Sq footage.

My mother is currently in the Vi at Grayhawk. The overall experience has been fine. Everything has been very, very good, especially with COVID; they have gone above and beyond to keep everybody safe. They're very diligent, very good, and I have nothing bad to say about them at all. They have laundry, although there was even a while that we stopped the housekeeping, because we didn't want anybody in her room. They do have amenities, but we haven't been able to experience them very much because she's been locked in her room. The dining room is closed, the library is closed, all of the classes are closed, and any of the arts and crafts, fun, music, and anything like that is closed down. It is a big complex. Its one of those things that you buy into, you can live in a house in the neighborhood, and progressively as you get older, you move into the other areas. It's a reasonable expense for care.

I am 85, widowed and my 3 sons insisted that I move closer to them...what a great idea, I am just overwhelmed with the friendly support of not only the staff, but all the residents who have made me feel welcome and a part of their community. The facilities are exceptional, have not found anything lacking from exercise, to food, to interesting classes, transportation, hair and nail salon, art studio etc.etc.etc. All in all, after looking at 12 local facilities, I am completely convinced that I selected the perfect community for me.

At first glance this facility is outstanding! You are welcomed and they are eager to meet with you and get you started on the process of completing all financial information, which is excessive. As I went through this process with my mother who was eager and anxious to make this community her home, I was so happy that she had found a place that she thought was worth giving up her large home for. Oh, but there was a catch......my incredibly healthy and very independent mom has MS. She was diagnosed with MS in 2002 and has not had one relapse since her diagnosis, 15 years ago, nor have her MRI's changed at all in 15 years! As a matter of fact, Barrows Neurological Institute has told her there is no need for her to be on any medication and she does not have to come back and see them unless something changes. She lives alone, drives and is active in her community, she just doesn't want the burden of taking care of a large home any more. She also doesn't want her kids to have to worry about her. She completed all of her paperwork, was approved financially, she met with two people on their medical staff only to receive a call a couple of day later informing her that she was not accepted to be a resident due to her MS! Why would they let her go through this process if having MS was a disqualifier? She has asked to meet with the Director of the facility and I have left a message for the Director for a better explanation. One week later, neither one of us have gotten the courtesy of a return phone call or a more in depth explanation other than MS is a debilitating disease. This is completely unacceptable for what is supposed to be a top rated facility. I also believe it falls into discrimination. I would not recommend anyone that has a senior relative with any kind of health issue, which most of them do, to even consider this facility. It is appalling in regards to how they have treated my mother.

How it works
At Vi at Grayhawk offers two different pricing options, depending on the percentage of return. Your entrance fee and monthly fee pay for your apartment home, as well as access to our onsite continuum of care. The entrance fee is a one-time fee paid when you move into the community, and is based on the floor plan and return option you choose. Additionally, your monthly fees - which are directly tied to the floor plan you choose - also cover a range of services including: maintenance of your home, housekeeping, dining, transportation, and more. Should you move or need to access the care center, your independent living monthly fees will not increase, aside from community wide increases, the cost of additional meals and ancillary items as needed.
