Brookdale Desert Ridge was fine. It was very middle of the road. It seemed to be depressing. It was stark. There was no view. It was clean. The shower was not amenable to somebody in memory care. The person who accommodated me was very nice. She was very good. The dining area was very mediocre. It was not inspiring and not welcoming. It was just OK. Some residents were watching a movie, and some were involved in a memory game.

My mother-in-law is currently at Brookdale Desert Ridge. It is very homey and warm. You just get a good feeling when you walk in the door. Her apartment is acceptable, and it's just enough for her. She has a living room and a small galley with a refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, and some cupboards. The staff is very good and they're very attentive to her. They're a little bit shorthanded right now, but everybody's shorthanded. They go to Walmart and Fry's. They have nickel bingo, blackjack, movies, and ice cream socials. They had a luau a couple of months ago and they had a senior prom last month. For the meals, they offer 3 entrees, a salad, and a dessert.

I went to Brookdale Desert Ridge. It was a nice but an older facility. The room was a nice, big room for one bedroom. The only complaint I had was there was a bit of a lift on the shower that could cause problems trying to step over. It did have nice, wide doors that would accommodate my wife's wheelchair. The staff, Allison, was very nice. I have not tasted their food, but the dining area was okay. They have a place to watch movies. They have some card tables, game tables, a place to do puzzles, and things like that.

Brookdale Desert Ridge was very pretty. They had a gym, a hair and nail salon, games, live music, and a very nice dining area. The only thing was it didn't seem like there was a whole lot of activity among the residents. They all pretty much kept to themselves, and we wanted a more outgoing atmosphere. Also, the outdoor sitting area wasn't really as nice as the other one we visited. Other than that, the cleanliness was very nice. The staff was very patient with us and explained everything in detail.

I liked Brookdale Desert Ridge. The people were very, very nice. It was housecleaning day, so they were all actively cleaning and helping people. They were also making jewelry in the activity room. The studio that we saw had a good layout. There's a theater room and a library. It was a clean place. They just didn't have balconies.

Brookdale Desert Ridge was very nice. I liked it very much. It's a smaller place. It's very nice and very welcoming. It has a theater room, exercise room, and a nice dining area. They had very friendly and very welcoming people. The lady that I met with (the director) was excellent. She's very kind and very engaging. She wanted to make sure she answers all your questions and shows you everything about the facility. You could tell how clean these places are by how they smelled, and this smelled excellent. It's in a very nice part of town and it's very easy to get to. There are quite a few places to go shopping or that sort of thing. So, it's very well located.

My grandmother moved into Brookdale Desert Ridge. The room was adequate. As her needs increased, the staff became more neglectful. If she was bed-bound, they left her meals on the kitchenette where she couldn't reach them. She was not changed when needed. Evening meals were often not delivered. We had to have family go in several times a day in her last months to ensure she was clean and fed. When she fell from bed, we were told she was dreaming and put a pillow under her mattress herself. My grandmother has passed, but I still have the phone call she made from the floor calling for help. It haunts me.

My mom has moved into Brookdale Desert Ridge. It is very nice. We are in the process of getting moved in and settled in. Everybody is very helpful. She is in the assisted living, but she has her own room and does not need a lot of assistance. Whenever I have a question, they get right on it. They are very open, friendly, and everybody seems to be very positive. I have not tried the food, but my mom has. She said it is okay. They had a lot of things to offer, but my mom is not ready to try them yet. They just opened up the dining room and they have a TV room and game room. There is plenty for her to do when she chooses.

My mom moved into Brookdale Desert Ridge and we chose it because of the community size and the pricing. The staff are so far so good. Her room fits her needs. The place is clean and nice. Everybody is on lockdown, so I do not know what the amenities really are or when they will be available. The location is very convenient to where I live. I do not know if there is anything that stood out different, but we chose this one because of price, location, size, attention, and the amount of assistance she is going to get. We had lunch one day before we joined, and it was good.

The lady who gave the tour at Brookdale Desert Ridge was very capable. She was very familiar with the people living there, and she was good friends with the staff. It was a very friendly atmosphere. The room was really good. It was very similar to the one that my friend selected. The only difference was the ones we looked at were on the second floor, and we didn't have an opportunity to look at the one on the ground floor. The staff was friendly, and it seemed like a nice place for me. The only reason that my friend didn't select it was it was too far north. It was just the geographic thing that eliminated that property.

We liked Brookdale Desert Ridge. They had music going, and the residents were dancing, clapping, and having a good time. However, we didn't see that many staff. The dining area was very nice. The decor was nice and not too modern, and my mom would be comfortable with that. They gave me a schedule of their weekly activities. They keep them pretty busy. They had a patio outside and a little area for gardening and for them to sit out, and a salon. The facility was very clean.

My mother has been there less than 3 months and the rates have already gone up over $180 for someone with a fixed income. All assisted living facilities penalize individuals for living! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Other than the rate hike, the facility is clean and my mother really likes it, but again, she hasn't been there this long

Everybody was welcoming when we toured and talked to us, and I felt very comfortable with everyone. The facility is clean. They take care of mother-in-law really well, and there are a lot of activities. They have exercise, arts and crafts, and entertainment on Fridays, which everybody seems to enjoy. They take them on outings to Walmart, the grocery store, Dollar Store, and the casinos. The staff has been wonderful, informative, and helped us understand a lot about the process.

I feel that the director was very rude at Brookdale North Phoenix. She was not respectful to my mother, and the residents didn’t look happy. The rooms were small. It was a total turn off, so I would not go there again.

My relative is in Brookdale North Phoenix (formerly Emeritus at Phoenix). She is in a pretty nice apartment, and I've been down there a couple of times to visit. They have a very pleasant facility and a lot of recreational activities going on. They have a card room and a room out in the lobby for visitation for people that don't want to go to the rooms. The dining facility is pleasant too. From the beginning, they've done a top-notch job of getting everything arranged. I've been just impressed by the whole staff that was there.

Brookdale North was probably the least we would even consider, it felt very much like a hospital. Although the staff was very nice, everybody was very friendly and made an effort. It’s not that there is anything wrong with it; the dining room and the food quality was just mediocre.

My mom resides at Emeritus which is now Brookdale at North Phoenix. They have made improvements and now have a full time activity director who provides a wise scale of activities including exercise and entertainment. My mom is at high level of care and is well taken care of by a great caring staff. The residence is very clean and organized and any time I have questions or concerns the staff answers them promptly. I highly recommend this facility.

Emeritus is clean, and the food is good. They have outings, movies, bingo, games, and art. They have church and bible study. The staff is OK, but we have a little concern about the response time; otherwise, it’s really good. If you need assistance you can push the button, which is great because it has a GPS and they can tell exactly where you are, but the response would take 15 minutes and sometimes it takes longer. It doesn’t happen very often, but it happens. The rooms have a little kitchen, refrigerator, sink, and a microwave, which are all provided.

Emeritus at Phoenix is a beautiful place with very friendly people and they have very good food. The staff was fantastic. Everyone I met there was very nice. What they showed me looked like a studio apartment and I realized that is way too small for me. Also, you would be having a roommate in that studio apartment. They have bingo, black jack, craft room, they have quite a bit of stuff. They had movies. They take them to the stores and other places. It's a really nice place, but it was not what I was looking for.

When we arrived at Emeritus at Phoenix it was like 9 o'clock in the morning and they had people just hanging around the lobby area. They did have a schedule of activities posted, but we didn’t see any of the activities going on though. They showed us the dining room from the doorway and told us that there was a menu posted. I didn’t have a feeling that the people there were overly happy either. There was one area that we walked through in the building that smelled terrible and obviously they are not going to get a very high rating.

My visit at the Emeritus at Phoenix was just awful. We walked in and there was an older woman who had fallen out of her wheelchair. She was on the floor, her leg was stuck, she was crying and in pain, but nobody came to help her for at least a minute or two. That kind of turned my husband off. It was pretty bad. They wanted us to come back, so we went to have lunch with them. The girl who was supposed to show us around didn't have us on her schedule and she had another family to show around, so we went in a week and had lunch, which was horrific. I wouldn't feed it to my dogs. Then, their machine for certain drinks was down and they brought us this horrible tasting water and it just went from bad to worse. They really did want us to come back and try to have us see what they were really about, and my husband just said no. The food was horrendous, the care that I've observed was that woman falling and not having anybody rush to her side, and the person who was supposed to show us around didn't even know we were coming. That's one place we definitely would not want to go back to.

Merely Existing; Definitely Not Living! This facility is all about filling beds. The only things that everyone gathers to are the meals. Then it resembles a bunch of Zombies going in the same direction. Staff constantly complaining about their $10/hr. wage. Even the food is not only redundant, but cheap and unhealthy. The meat had a constant resemblance to chewing gum, and then with dentures! The management can be seen running into their offices; never mingling. If depression has never been an issue, it will if anyone chooses Emeritus! The highlight in activities seems to be bingo and the weekly Walmart outing. What happened to: arts & crafts, music, piano, singing, promenades in the beautiful Phoenician weather, exercising on various levels, writing, book Clubs...... If you dislike someone, send them to Emeritus! The management has the talent of a fifth grader!

My sister's husband died recently, but we were able to tour Emeritus at Phoenix for him. It was a very pretty facility. The interior was very nice and very pretty. Their rooms were very nice and they were well laid-out. I liked the fact that they had a balcony. They also had a pool. The staff they had there were very helpful and very nice. Their prices too were pretty reasonable considering that they had a lot of activities to do. They had crafts and movie nights. They had exercise program and even church services. I had lunch there and the food was very good. It just felt like you can be home there.

My mother and her partner wanted a facility with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. And Emeritus was the only one that actually had that apartment. They were pretty much responsive to the questions and concerns that I had. However, my mom's partner complained all the time that they were not responsive to him. I don't know if it was just a difference in perception. My mom complained about the food, but she was also having a lot of eating difficulties. One of the other reasons I chose this facility was they did have an option of things that people could do, but they wouldn't insist that people do them. They're not really pushy about activities. I thought that was a good thing because my mom and her partner were not interested. They just wanted to do their own thing. So they were happy with that. But I think a lot of the time the staff was disorganized. They could improve on communication between the management and the staff, so that they're not all answering the same questions with different answers. As for the nursing staff, the med techs, my mom was really happy with all of them. They were polite to her and did what she needed. She already passed. She's only been there about six weeks.

We liked the area and how the room was set up in Emeritus. They took us upstairs and showed us what the rooms looked like. There were two bedrooms and a kitchen area. It was a nice size bedroom. The place was nice, everybody we talked was really gracious. They were going to come and do a nursing assessment for us, so we could see what we needed because they too didn't really give all the services that my brother was going to need. What I didn't like about the facility was there was no private bedrooms. It was just like a hospital room, two beds almost side by side. There were like partitions, but still. I guess you could get a private, but he couldn't afford that. But one thing lead to another and the next thing I know my brother ended up in a hospital.
