Renaissance Retirement is brand new, beautiful, and expensive. However, I don't like that it's four floors, and the elevator is confusing to elderly people. My mom liked that it was close to where we lived.

The oldest part of Renaissance's entire structure was built in 2000, so everything's new. It's a stunningly beautiful place, and everyone was incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful. It was very positive. It's new and every quarter we went to was incredibly clean and well cared for. They paid attention to the details and the small things that matter. They had a rather nice library and their dining facility was incredible. They also had a couple of small cafes in the main building, so you can eat whenever you want to eat, and it all smelled delicious.

We moved our in-laws into Renaissance. The assisted living part is new. They offer really good care. We like the newness of the building and that it is close to home. The staff seems very knowledgeable and caring. They get breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. Plus, they come around mid-morning and mid-afternoon with snacks. My father-in-law has dementia. At the moment, he is level 1 care, which means they will escort him through all the meals. He gets help dressing every morning. They check on them every two hours to make sure that things are going well. My mother-in-law is legally blind. The rooms are well laid out and big. My mother-in-law is picky, but she says the food is good.

Renaissance Retirement Community is very nice, and I liked it a lot. It just has long hallways, so that was a negative if you need to go to the grocery store every other day. It's an excellent place -- just incredibly expensive. The food is very good -- all gourmet and always excellent -- and they have programs. It's highly desirable and nice if you have lots of money. They charge you a big fee for having a wheelchair, pay and get special insurance for it, and then you have to get other special insurance in case you run into somebody else to pay for that cost. The first month's rent would have been a total of $10,000. You had a special fee for a dog and for insurance if the dog bit somebody. It's an excellent place, and people are very obliging. It just has too many long corridors to go in and out and go down elevators.

The staff at Renaissance has been really good. We chose this place again for my mom. She has one bedroom, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. We have no problems with regard to their food. They have lots of activities going on for their residents.

My father is at The Renaissance. He has been there over 15 years and he likes it a lot. They’re building now an assisted living part, but they do have assisted living on the other side, and it seems like they have good care. It is nice clean building. My mom picked it out and she really likes it there because they have all these activities and everything. However, I don’t care for the food at all. It made it depressing over the past 10 years. It was very unflavored food and i think it is for older people who only had lesser of a taste bud or can’t handle very hard food, but the food is not good. However, my dad likes the food. On the assisted living side, they would take them to doctor’s appointments, they would take them to the casinos, and they would take them on small trips around Arizona. They would take them on really nice air-conditioned buses. If you go down to visit your family, they can sometimes get you an apartment to stay in for the weekend.
