Short 30 day eviction notice for my 91 year old father. He has lived there for six years. Regency no longer wants to care for the most needy residents. Instead of us spending the time he has left with him were having to deal with this.

They are evicting 5th and 6th floor residents who were receiving professional dementia care from a contract caregiving group. My wife is 88 and has only been living there three weeks and now has to find another place. Under no circumstances would I recommend Regency because they cannot be trusted.

My husband was in Memory Care and suffered severe neglect. He lost the ability to feed himself and the staff wouldn’t help feed him, while I looked for placement elsewhere. I made a surprise visit and found an employee putting my husband in his room, by himself, and refused to give him lunch because he would not stay in his seat.

My wife will be moving into Regency Retirement Village - Huntsville. It was a nice community, and the residents seemed happy and well cared for. There are all levels of medical care there, from independent living to skilled nursing care. The incoming cost and monthly fees were reasonable. We looked at several different apartments and different floor plans. We saw a 1-bedroom deluxe. It was a bedroom with a den that can be used as a bedroom. I could come and go 24 hours, 7 days a week. I could also participate in the amenities, like the meals. The staff was good. I had good interaction with them, they answered questions, escorted me around, and they explained everything.

I visited my brother at the facility. We were able to have a picnic in the roofed area, as it rained, this was very appreciated. I found his room to be suitable but not extremely roomy, but it is just himself living there. He had good things to say about the food. I don't know if he is physically able to participate in the activities. The staff was more than friendly and super helpful. His birthday comes on March 22, I hope at least someone will bake him a cake and give him a chocolate rabbit.

My mom has been at Regency Retirement Village - Huntsville for 4 years now. She started in memory care and now she needs more attention. But at this point, they don't have any more beds to accommodate her. So now, I'm getting a little concerned that they don't have the capacity to take care of her. Some of the staff do not have the skills to be doing what they're doing. However, they do have a very good nurse up there that does her best to take care of my mother, although she's not there all the time. And a lot of this has been happening after hours. When she goes to bed at night, sometimes my mother tends to get up. She's fallen several times, and they'd walk into her room and just find her laying on the floor. This is not acceptable to me. Her room is private. It's a nice room, I have no problem with the room but some of the CNAs do not have the experience to take care of my mom. I have tried the food, and it's not bad. They do have a pretty good bit of activities to participate in from time to time. And they do try to involve the residents in all these activities. My mother just walks around the facility. She's not able to walk very well, especially since she fell and broke her hip. She's not capable of actively participating in the other activities at this point. I understand that most of the facilities are short on staff anyway. And I understand they have to hire whoever they can to get in there just to cover the ratios that they need for CNAs and staff, but understand too that the amount of what we pay for her care does not match the care she is getting.
