I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My cousin has been in Country Cottage in Huntsville for three weeks now. We're very pleased with it. She has adjusted to it very well, and it's good care. There is a nurse practitioner on duty all the time. My cousin has a bedroom. We carried her own furniture; she could have whatever she wanted. She has her own bathroom, too. We're pleased with the maintenance. My cousin is beginning to like the food. She didn't at first, but she has adjusted to it. In terms of activities, I've seen puzzles and games and things like that in there and I saw a room where everybody can gather.

I visited this facility

Country Cottage - Huntsville struck me as smaller, they only had one memory care building, and two to three assisted living areas. From an appearance standpoint, it was very clean. It was very well kept up, but it was not as nice as the other place. I visited the assisted living, but they also had memory care. There are more affordable options. But as a result of that, I just don't think they have all the amenities of the higher-priced options which makes perfect sense. I have every reason to believe they provide outstanding service to their guests. It just didn't. It just didn't strike me as the kind of place that was top on my list. The lady that we talked to was very nice and very knowledgeable, and it was an enjoyable visit with her. The facilities were clean and well-kept. I thought the rooms, the dining room, and the social areas were all very nice for the purpose that they have.

Country Cottage-Huntsville was very nice. What I liked the best about it was that it had a very cozy atmosphere and the staff were very, very friendly. It felt more personal than the other place we went to, probably because it's a smaller environment. They have a smaller patio, but it was still a nice space. They have comfortable seating out there. It was very clean and smelled pleasant, and the people seemed very happy. The dining room was nice and also very cozy. It was like family-style seating. So, there were four residents at a table. There was a fireplace, which was very nice, and comfortable seating. The menu was posted outside on the wall and it looked like they had a lot of variety. There was an always-available menu so if the residents didn't particularly care for what was being served on a specific day, they had other options.

I visited this facility

I toured Country Cottage Huntsville. It's a much smaller facility than any of the other facilities I went to. So if you're looking for a small, more homey feeling location, it would be a good option. It didn't really meet the things that I was looking for my dad. I only interacted with one of the staff members, but she was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to give me all the information I was looking for. It was a great first impression, staff-wise. The facility was one of the older ones I went to. It could have benefitted from some renovations. Overall, the facility was very clean, and the grounds were also very clean and nice. More of their amenities were in their independent living section, so the assisted living didn't have those items.

We love Country Cottage - Huntsville. It was really awesome. The staff and the facility were excellent. They offer just the basics, the bingo, the trips to the store if needed, and they also offer a doctor onsite. It had a homey feel. It was a smaller building. The room sizes were small, but it's enough for someone that just needs somewhere to be. We saw the menu. If we could afford it, my mother would definitely be there. It was a beautiful facility.

We toured Country Cottage - Huntsville. It was clean. It was small, which was perfect for my mother-in-law. There couldn't be a more perfect place for her. The residents there seemed happy. The lady that was in charge that talked to us was just very gracious. She had answers to all of our questions. She was very just calm, open, and forthcoming with information. There wasn't anything that we disliked. They had outings for the residents. They were coming in that day from an ice cream outing while we were there. It was like walking into somebody's house. It was very welcoming and very clean. The dining room was clean. We got to see the menu that they offered, and that looked fine, too. They had a patio area out back, and they allowed them to plant things in the pots. There was a nice large covered porch area.

My dad moved into Country Cottage - Huntsville about a week ago. I like it because it is a small facility and the nurses on staff there can keep a close look at the residents. They make sure that all their needs are taken care of, and they are very respectful. The place is also clean and nice all around. I've seen their menu and it seems good. They have a cool room where they go to interact with the other residents.

I did a tour of Country Cottage - Huntsville. They don't have a memory care at the moment, but they said they're in the process of building one, so we just toured the regular assisted living area. I like this place a lot; the staff seemed very energetic and very happy to be working with people. They were there to answer any questions we had. They were very accommodating, and I liked it quite a bit. They have smaller, single rooms. It had enough room for a bed, a couple of tables, dressers, a seating area, and a bathroom; it was standard. They had a very good activity schedule, and they gave me a copy of it. They seemed to be very interested in their people. I asked how they get to know the people, and they told us that when somebody comes in, they would sit down and chat with them. There were three or four different people who would go in, talk to them, and find out their interest, what they wanted to do, and what kind of food they liked. I really thought it was a good place. It was the assistant director who was there. I had two people talking to me, and they were really nice. I thought they were very caring and very much wanted for their people to have interest in what was going on. They had a kitchen area; they would give them snacks or meals there. They also had a seating area and a library where people could go, meet together, and talk with each other. There was a TV area and a couch area where they could sit and talk with each other. There were sixteen rooms that were located around that area.

My mom has moved into Country Cottage. Her room is a little bigger than some of the options at a lower price point. There are three different cottages instead of one large complex. They seem to be able to deal with Covid pretty well in that configuration because they could keep the staff separated to smaller subgroups and their home health people are assigned to just one location, they do not go to other facilities. They seem very conscious of the pandemic. My mom got there at base level, but they have increased care packages like most senior living. They dispense her meds as part of their base level. She has been there a little over three weeks now. Since the pandemic, they don't let the families come in for meals, but normally, that is an option anytime you want to visit. They have crafts, exercise periods on most days, and group games where they're able to stay separated, and they had Christmas activities. Their normal calendar was a lot more booked with things where they take them places than they're able to do currently. The staff has been very good.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into Country Cottage - Huntsville a few days ago. They're very friendly and the food is very good. We play games, have bible study, and sing. The staff members are very caring and are hardworkers. My room is very nice. They just cleaned it and they did a good job.

Our tour of Country Cottage - Huntsville was a wonderful experience. It had an adorable setting. The apartments were beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us a bag of homemade chocolate chip cookies when we left that were yummy. While we were there, the residents were having wine and cheese, which I thought was really nice.

Country & Columbia Cottages was a nice facility and in a nice area. The staff seems to be very knowledgeable, very friendly, and they seem to be happy to be there. However, I thought maybe their number was a bit low, because they mainly had two people that tended to a cottage with 16 rooms. I felt like three of four would have been a better number. But I was pleased with what I saw otherwise. The rooms were very nice, but it was smaller than what we really would want for her. The way they had set the cottages was neat. They had 16 rooms to a cottage, so you have a small community. But it was large enough that if you want to walk around the perimeter of the cottage you got some exercise. But the main problem with them was they did not have 24-hour nurse on site. My mother's long-term insurance policy requires that.
