Most importantly, the team (staff) at the Blake treats everyone like family. They are competent and care for their people. Rooms are spacious, clean, and fresh. Church services, daily activities, and events are well done. Their care and protection during COVID has, thus far, been impeccable.

The rooms should be cleaned more often and in more detail. My relatives room had mold badly Roaches in all areas of their room. Halls are dirty, Food is absolutely horrid and inedible.

I visited this facility
My visit at The Blake at Malbis was good. I liked the way it's set up, but they didn't have any availability. The staff was nice, friendly, and informative when they gave me the tour. They showed me their menus, activities, and general dining area where all the residents go to. They had a chef and took the residents outside when weather permits.

The Blake was very clean, it was less expensive, and it was not as upscale. They did not have large grounds, and some of rooms were overlooking a parking lot.

I visited this facility
The Blake at Malbis was a home atmosphere but very elegant. They had very friendly staff. The rooms were really nice, and the food was very good. Also the residents were out and about, which made a big difference. They had bingo and music going one time. They have an active community, which is very nice.

We loved the assisted living in The Blake. Everything was the best. They had nice rooms, elegant dining, and a beautiful courtyard. They had a lot of amenities, took trips, went out to eat, visited different museums, and went to see the dolphins. They had movie nights, bingo, and wine tasting parties, too. They had round-the-clock nursing staff, which we really appreciated. They only had studio apartments, but they were very nice and included sliding glass doors that looked down to the front of the building. My father was able to have a huge room with a sitting area and a bedroom with a little walk-through kitchen and a huge bathroom with handicapped capabilities. We were very happy with it. Plus, the building had many areas to sit and watch TV, a library, and a game room.

The person who gave me the tour of The Blake at Malbis was extremely friendly and helpful, but I did not like the fact that the place has long halls or corridors that basically form a big square that goes all the way around, and I could see my mother getting lost on the hall and not remembering where her room was; I didn't want a place with big halls. The rooms were fine, clean, roomy and enough storage room. It was very nice as far as being clean, new, and lots of room.

The Blake was very nice, but I didn’t like the fact that it was not near, and it didn’t have all those things right around it like shopping centers. The staff was very nice. They have a movie room, cards, a recreational area, a very nice dining hall, good food, a beauty shop where you can get your hair done, and a game room. The rooms were like little suites; it has a kitchenette, a bedroom, and a sitting.

I’m really impressed with the Blake. I loved the dining concept and that they had separate wings for memory care and assisted living. They’re open and had little spaces where people can sit, do games, and read. They have very nice and well-appointed separate rooms. Their menu specials changed every month with usually five or six selections, plus they have standard items on the menu that you can order. The staffed seemed very interested and engaging. They had a lot of activities for the residents, like taking them out on outings, and were willing to make and take people to doctors' appointments. They put more emphasis on staff training in memory care.

I chose The Blake at Malbis because of its cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff, the room, and just the overall appearance of it. They had a special discount going on at that time, so I took advantage of that. The location was a big factor also because it was so easy to get to. They have a daily list of activities like bingo, arts and crafts, and shows. If mom needs to go to her doctor, they'll shuttle her to her appointment. They also go out on field trips. Last night, mom said the food was not good, but they give you choices on the menu on what you can eat. The nurses were very fine. The public relations lady went out of her way to help me with the things mom needs. They have a salon, a masseurs that they can use, a sitting area where they can go out and sit in.

The people at Blake at Malbis are really nice and friendly. The place is immaculate, very clean, and well decorated. The food and housekeeping are good. The room is very pleasant and has a large bathroom. He has a window that looks out on a beautiful courtyard. It’s very quiet compared to some of the others he has been in. The people are very caring overall and have good activities available.

The Blake was a beautiful, very open, and very inviting facility. The woman who conducted the tour was very friendly and provided lots of information that I wasn’t aware of, like veterans’ benefits and things of that nature. The residents all seemed very happy. Pets were allowed, not that my parents need a pet, but we have dogs and we would be able to bring them to visit because they love animals but don’t need one of their own. They had many options for rooms, from studios all the way through a very large one-bedroom, and different levels of room options, so that was very impressive. They also had lots of activities, a theater room, and a book club. One thing that I was impressed with was they had an on-site beauty salon where once a week they would bring in a stylist, a manicurist, and even a massage therapist, which was nice because they wouldn’t have to go out somewhere to get a haircut; they can just schedule it right there. It's a beautiful place that looked more like a resort hotel.

I cannot say enough about The Blake. From the minute we walked in to look around the staff was friendly and the residents seemed happy. We ate lunch there and not only was the food great!! (Good southern cooking), residents were laughing and talking at the other tables. There seemed to be a real camaraderie between the residents and staff. We moved my mother in and found that what we felt when we were looking was actually the case. The staff is friendly, helpful and caring. They seem to genuinely care about the residents and their families. It is clean, light, bright and beautiful and there seems to be something going on all the time. The management seems to really care in a compassionate way and got to know us all personally. We felt like part of the family. My mom is gone now but I still go to the Blake to see her friends and the staff that I got to know so well. It feels like home.

We went to The Blake. It was beautiful to look at, but we heard too many bad things about it. We didn't like the people that worked there. They were very pushy. The rooms were beautiful, but appearance wasn't what we were looking for. We were looking for the care.
They had activities. They had puzzles, and they took them out on a bus to different places.

The assisted living portion was okay, however is it short staffed and the food can be average at best. However, the memory care experience was awful. The staff can be rude, items went missing, I personally witnessed a staff member respond to the "help button", turn it off and leave, not returning for almost 20 minutes! I discovered that the sitter service was trying to get my mother to invest in her business. Housekeeping is subpar. The staff and nurse failed to recognize SEVERE dehydration. Staff was not concerned with with problems and I became nervous that it would be reflected in their treatment of my parents.

My sister has lived in The Blake for about 5 months and is very satisfied with the facilities, food, staff members and activities. Her apartment is just right for her needs. Living room and kitchenette is designed well and contains all her needs. The bed room and bath are extra large which allows ease of movement when she uses her wheel chair. The Blake staff is kind and compassionate and professional . They assist her with all her needs on a timely basis. When my sister needed to move into an Assisted Living facility, we visited five in Baldwin County. All facilities were nice that we visited but The Blake was head and shoulders better than the others. An extra special for the Blake is that other residents we have talked with are friendly to my sister and to us and they also like living there.

The Blake is a a beautiful, spacious facility that offers amazing quality care around the clock. The rooms are spacious, clients have plenty of room to roam, including a lovely garden. Memory care clients are locked in and can not get out without alarms signalling. Exceptional.

I visited this facility
The Blake itself is a beautiful facility. It has beautiful landscaping and the decor is very nice. The problem with this place is the staff. They are very rude to the residents and they have lost several in a very short amount of time due to lack of care. I witnessed first hand how rude the nurses and staff were. I would not suggest this facility to anyone, as they do not properly care for these residents, at least on the Memory Care side of the facility.

We loved The Blake at Malbis. The place was very good, and the rooms were very big. It was also very nice and clean. We talked to a few of the people staying there and they seemed to like it. They have lots of activities that would get them out of their rooms. We got a very good tour; it was very nice. The lady that showed us around was wonderful. She did a very good job. She also worked with our financial situation. We still couldn't afford it after she did that; however, she did a lot of work to try to get the price where we could afford it. She did a very good job with that.

My father moved into the Blake at Malbis. Hes in a secure place, and hes not going to wander. They offer outings once a week, they get together, they do stuff, the activities director reads a book, or part of a book, and she tries to get them to converse. They offer three meals a day, and snacks in between. Some of the staff members talk amongst themselves and not to the residents, but theyre nice and courteous.
