Our Mother was service by the home health care service. Later added to Palliative care and than Hospice. We were pleased with the treatment she received every time. From her primary care physician to all the nurses. Believe me she called them often. From our perspective, as her children, we were involved and kept abreast of every decision. When Hospice was call they were on top of everything.

This company made a hard time harder. It was difficult to schedule initial visits for hospice care, and by the time we got settled into the program we felt the nurses were nice but totally hands off. We never even met or spoke to the doctor. Our mom passed and it was up to us alone with no medical professionals there to see her through it, but hey, it happens. The absolute worst part of this experience was having to play phone tag for a week to get her death certificate signed by the doctor with capital caring. It was a digital document so I have no idea why it took until EOD Friday when my mom passed early morning Tuesday. At one point I called, said I was looking for an update on the signature for her death certificate - they looked up her account, and said “Oh yeah I see the admission order, I’ll transfer you to an admission nurse” after my mother had literally already died. Admission nurse?! I was very clear about the reason I was calling but they were not paying attention. No tact. They also touted they offer bereavement counseling but unsurprisingly I haven’t heard from them.

Capital Caring previously provided hospice and palliative care for my father. They stopped servicing the area we live in and didn’t bother to tell us. I had to track them down to confirm that we have no support. Sad that any company would abandon its clients without notice. Such injustice for the medically incapacitated elderly.

My mother's 24/7 aids let me know that Capital Caring let the pill box get empty after the first week. I chalked it up to start-up problems. Then the box was filled up incorrectly missing 4 pills one day and putting an extra pill in another day. CC said maybe the aids (from another company) did something to the pill boxes. Now CC has admitted that when a nurse went on vacation 2 weeks ago no one was assigned to back-fill; my mom was not seen at all for 2 weeks. The CC social worker who confirmed that my mom was overlooked says she understands why I am replacing them. Do Not Hire Capital Caring.

At 75, I have had plenty of experience with friends and family needing Hospice care here in Texas. Besides providing the expected supervision of a doctor with the needed prescriptions for palliative care, the Hospice care we have previously used (none associated with Capital Caring) provided a Social Worker and home health aides to assist the family with the patient's bathing needs. We currently have a parent under Capital Caring hospice care in Virginia. They have not offered a Social Worker for the family's needs, and they offer no home health aides to assist in bathing the patient. Unacceptable in my opinion. I never thought to question if a Hospice offers those services or not, but I'll take the responsibility in not recommending the family insure they choose a Hospice that offers those services. Unfortunately, it is too late to make a switch, and we are highly dissatisfied with Capital Caring.

Staff was kind and empathetic. Our biggest issue is how slow everything was. By the time we got supplies my mother was already passed because it took a week. Responses were very slow. We couldn’t even get prescriptions refilled and ran out before her death because their systems are inefficient. My mother was not at peace. The oxygen hose nose piece they provided gave her nose bleeds and there was no other alternative. I’m extremely disappointed my mother wasn’t given what she needed.
