He does not have any strength in his legs. He needs to be moved in the morning from his bed to the wheelchair. He needs to be moved from the wheelchair to the bed at night. He couldn't do that without them. I like that my dad as had a good experience. He has needs that other home aides cannot accommodate. They are very flexible with that. He has contacted them when he needs additional things like receipts. He gets a pretty quick turn-around on that.

I think all the helpers we had were willing to do everything we asked them to do. One of the things they were doing was preparing for the evening meal, and were always willing to try. We did have scheduling difficulties when they didn't show up or came late and didn't let us know ahead of time. The nurses were very helpful in setting up our assistance and working with us to figure out we needed.

My mom was 89 and dying and this woman said that the room was very hot and my mom was cold because dying people are cold. Old people tend to keep the heat cranked and she did not realize this. Depending on who you got, they were fabulous or not good at all. The level of the caregivers needed to be consistent. The knowledge of the caregivers needed to be higher.

Some of the caregivers liked to spend as much time as possible sitting, but others were excellent. I feel like the people in the office could make a lot of improvements with their communication. I would have liked them to communicate. They didn't communicate when the caregiver was going to be late or wasn't going to show up. There was often staff shortages, but the nursing staffed seemed decent.

I know exactly who to contact. They're responsive and had got me the specific caregivers I've asked for. They have a great work ethic. They listen to my concerns and rectify that situation.

When it comes to my aging relatives, I have stupidly high standards for home care. BrightStar St. Paul continues to exceed them. They are extremely responsive, professional, and compassionate—every time we are in a tough spot, they come through. I'm actually struggling to write this review because I can't find words to describe how grateful I am for the support and care they provide. Highly recommend.

He had someone with him the whole night because he had been pushing his button too much to have people on-call. It was wonderful that they could come in so he didn't have to go into a nursing home at that stage in his life. I think that he felt really at home once we got past the first person, who didn't work out.

They help do stuff I can't do, so that helps a lot. I like the personal care and the ability to be flexible with my hours. I don't know when your charges to VA change. When the VA tells me they gave you so much money, I can't tell if the amount is wrong, or whether you just increased prices and the VA is accepting the increased prices. I would like to be a little more involved. As far as the care is concerned, I have no complaints.

The caregivers come in and ask me what I want them to do, and when I tell them, they sit down and fill out forms for a long time. After they fill out the paperwork, then they take out their phones and they play with their phones for a very long time. The services definitely make my life easier. The only thing I struggle with is that by the time the caregivers finish their paperwork, there is not much time left to do anything.

I knew that my loved one needed caregivers with certain personalities, but sometimes BrightStar Care couldn't send the right kind of people. I think that the services overall were not necessarily negative, but there wasn't much work that got done either, so the impact was not too positive.
