My husband used Honor Home Care. Services include companionship, meal preparation, and supervision of pills. I had many different caregivers. Some of them were superb, some of them were not particularly willing or able to engage with my husband. That worked OK when I was working away from home, but when I was working in the home, I found it distressing. There was somebody there with him, but it wasn't really what I wanted to have done. There were others who were superb at getting him laughing, getting him out walking with them, and engaging with him over meals. One of the reasons I stopped Honor was, in the time of COVID, it seemed as though I had to choose between something that was stable, so that I wasn't introduced to a new caregiver three or four times a week, or the quality care that I appreciated so much. I would recommend Honor Home Care. The person I recommended it to has been extremely happy with it. There are a couple of things about Honor's system that are fantastic. A couple of times a caregiver became ill or a family crisis emerged and they had to leave, and Honor got another caregiver there immediately before the person left. If a caregiver couldn't come in, they always had a substitute. I got a report every day on how the interaction had gone. I'd give them five-stars even though I was unhappy with them at the end because the COVID has made everything so difficult. That's where the problem really emerged, and they didn't have any control over that. Before COVID, it was definitely five-stars, and I'll leave it there.

Honor Care is coming in once a week for my wife for four hours a day. They are companions for my wife. They help her shower, they clean the bathroom and the kitchen, they change linens, and they do the laundry. They have been very good. Whatever my wife asks, they take care of it for her. She is happy with them, and that's what's important. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They're doing a fine job. They're dependable.

Honor is very good at taking care of my dad. They write nice notes and are reliable. If they say they're going to do something, they always do. They help my dad transfer, make his food for him, help him get out of the house and wheel him around the neighborhood, and give him a little massage. The caregiver would also try to get him to exercise even though he won't do it.

We tried Honor–In Home Senior Care and we never had such a bad experience. They have really weird rules. They have 24-hour cancellation, and if you need a caregiver, you have to give them 72 hours notice. Anyone who knows anything about caregiving knows that we can’t always give that kind of notice. How to get caregivers was very random. You couldn’t tell them what kind of help you wanted. The caregiver is signed up on the web. She would come, and if we liked her, we could give her a star and then we get starred caregivers again. The caregivers were not fabulous but OK.

I am using Honor and am quite happy with them. I like most of the people they send. I’ve had a couple of occasions where people didn’t show up at the last minute, but that has been relatively minor. The work they do is what I need, and my wife is fine with them. They provide mostly assistance with ADLs, like toileting and dressing, and they make her lunch and do some minor housework. The people they sent me are of pretty good quality. I would like to be able to have the same person as many times as possible. I’ve gotten to the point now where I have basically one person who comes most of the time, and then once in a while it is not him. When you start out, they send you whoever chooses that shift. I got to try out a bunch of different people and styles, and then I settled on a couple of favorites and those are the people who come most often. I have to give them 72 hours notice, but somebody showed up the first time I needed them.

We hired a caregiver from Honor for 4 days. They changed diapers and beddings and did sponge baths. They were very good. Time management and pricing was excellent, and everything was very good.

Honor is expensive for what they do, and for what we pay we’re not getting the skill. Someone came one Sunday, the same person came Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, a different person came Thursday, a different person came today, and the person they sent today was of very poor quality. She sat on her phone texting right in the client’s face. We’ve had 2 people that we like out of 7, but we need the help, and they have consistently sent someone every day.
