Flomax is a prescription drug which means that all dosing will be set by the physician who prescribed the medication for you. That being said, the average basic beginning prescription is for one 0.4mg pill taken orally once a day. You would continue that dose until given other directions by your prescribing physician. Sometimes, if the 0.4mg dose is not effective, your physician may double the dosage to 0.8mg per day. However, no matter what your daily prescription amount is, you would continue taking Flomax until directed by your physician to stop taking it. The effects of Flomax wear off after only one or two days, so it is important that you continue to take it daily as prescribed.
