Can Januvia be split?

KathrineS62 answered...

The diabetes drug, Januvia, works by lowering one's blood sugar. I have used it myself to treat my Type 2 Diabetes. It worked well in lowering my blood sugar numbers, though it often gave me a stomache ache. Januvia is not for people with Type 1 diabetes. This pill can be split with a pill cutter and taken in half doses with no reprecussions. Sometimes medication will be given lower doses if blood sugar levels regularly drop too low. Half doses might be a good solution to that problem. Because Januvia does not come in an extended release form and is absorbed all at once, the pill does not need to remain intact.

it will be a delayed correction but the above answer is wrong, Januvia tablets must be used whole, don't split them. Please check the FDA advice by tis link: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/Safety-RelatedDrugLabelingChanges/ucm121926.htm
