Mom moved in with us about a month ago from an assisted living apartment as her liquid assets were depleted, and Social Security was not enough to keep her in there. We knew she had dementia, but until being with her 24/7, no one really knew how progressed it actually is. I'm looking for ways to balance life. We have learned that we can not leave anything important laying around, can't leave her alone for long, and when we have gone to church or an appointment are not relaxed at all wondering what she might be up to. Mom is also a colon cancer survivor with a colostomy. Although she still cares for her stoma, it is clear she is becoming less skillful in attending to it. She also has COPD.
