I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Today this facility accepted a friend as a patient. They were unprepared to do so. They did not respond to the light call in two instances. The bed pan they are using is unacceptable for a patient with a broken pelvis, there are better options. There are no physical therapists on duty for the weekend. Therefore the patient could not be evaluated for a walker until Monday. The patient had not been medicated for pain since 10:30 am. The nurse was told this at 1:30 and that pain medication would be needed at 2:30 pm. The nurse stated the prescription had been received and would be acted on as soon as possible. As of 8:30 PM no medication had been given, 10 hours had passed without pain medication. The person in attendance blamed the patient for not making arrangements.

If you don't care about your loved one you'll be in good company. Rude, unprofessional, lack of communication, dirty, list goes on. Never so upset in my life.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Winter Haven Post Acute and Rehabilitation. I received good care there and I was very satisfied. For one thing, the nurses and aides were very kind, very patient-oriented, and very good at their jobs. I felt very well taken care of. The facility has been remodeled, and it was clean all the way around. My room was clean, and it was cleaned every day. The meal service was adequate. The staff there worked really hard to keep everybody happy. They had a lot of patients to take care of, and I felt that they did a very good job.

If i could give this place ZERO stars, I absolutely would! They are incapable of caring for others the way they should be! I wouldnt send my hamster there!! My father was admitted to this facility and from day 1 had nothing but issues. The first day there the staff didnt even realize he was a patient. they thought he was a visitor. He had a private room and there was other patients coming in to use his bathroom.. Then they couldnt give his meds on time. Myself and my mother called several times just to check on him since he wasnt answering his phone. Their response was i dont know i havent been in there in about 4 hours. I told them my father has bacterial meningitis. He could be dead!! (keep in mind this has spread to his brain) there was one day he had his nurse light on for 2 hours and noone even came to check on him. the last day he was there, the kitchen staff came to pick up his dinner tray... well surprise he never even received his meal!! come to find out the kitchen staff threw it away without even offering it to my father. That was the last straw we decided to sign him out and take him home. its that or who the hell knows what would have happened next!! Please do not send your loved ones here!! THEY WILL NOT BE CARED FOR!!

I visited this facility

The beautiful Care that they "Consulate Health Care gave our Family member during her time of need. The Loss of her Son. It was a sad time. We knew we would need help in getting everything done. We live in Lakeland and The Consulate Health Care Center is in Winter Haven and so is the Funeral Home that we used. I called Consulate Staff and told them we were in need of help and the Consulate staff put everything into motion as if we were a part of them. "Team work ,makes the Dream work" I mean getting our Family member ready to do her final task of putting her Son away. they did everything from preparing the Breakfast ,driver, the bath, nails, hair combing, dressing and making sure that she was on time. it was really "Golden". It is really Beautiful when People work together as Consulate Health Care Winter Haven did. We Love Consulate Health Care Winter Haven. " Can not Praise them enough." "May the Simple Joys of the Season Be Yours" Beautifully Yours, The Family

I am/was a resident of this facility

I had back surgery recently and was informed by my doctor that I needed to go to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation because I lived alone and needed to get stronger so that I could return to work. I chose to go to Consulate Healthcare of Winter Haven and am very glad that I did. The staff was very caring and understanding of my needs and made me feel at home which made my stay a pleasant experience. The therapy department was very encouraging and got me up and going right away and even helped with my pain. Plenty of activities such as church groups and live entertainment. I was worried about the food, but soon realized that it was very good with other choices if I did not like what was being served. Was able to return home after only a few weeks and am back to work. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing rehab or nursing care.

Wish I had never had my Mother admitted there. The administrators didn't seem to care about the patients. My mother was in distress and I advised the staff. Was told the doctor would be there soon. Turns out the doctor, was on vacation and I continued to advise the nurses to get someone there to tend to my Mother. Had to demand to the Administrator that she needed help and finally the nurse administrator showed up. She agreed that there was a Problem .The doctor showed up in time to pronounce my mother dead. Never again. Sad that I put My Mother in this place. Was told to gather my mom things by the nurse, ten minutes after she passed, that they would not be there in the morning, because they need the room. Today, almost one year after my Mother Passing I Recieved a Bill from them. Never heard anything from them when My Mother passed. They don't seem to care

My mother had been in Consulate five times since 2005. The 1st 3 times were good. In the past 2 years the quality of care has drastically gone downhill. I actually signed my mother out due to neglect. I came in & found her stumbling down the hall incoherent with a box of tissues looking for something to eat! No one helped me or had noticed her. This was not the 1st time her or her roommate were neglected. The RN's were rude, the cna's lazy. Only decent dept was rehab. I had to hire a private nurse to stay with her daily to feed & care for her.

The name of the facility is Consulate. It is for my mother. The people that worked there are nice. It is clean, and the maintenance is very good. As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with the facility. She has a shared room. That I don't like too much, but there's nothing that I can really do about that because she has a big family. The activities are good. They have a lot of activities in their calendars, and they put them up in the room. Their therapy is very good, and they come two times a day. They have a lot that is going on. They have dancing and a lot of things. The therapist attitude was very well and excellent. The overall experience was excellent.

I think the people working at the Consulate Health Care are very caring people. They do have a shortage of help, but I think they are working on it now because they got a new administrator. I still think they are lacking and they could have more nursing time for the people. The one thing my mom is having a hard time with is, they told her that they had a bus where once a month or once every couple weeks, they could take a certain amount of people to Walmart and the dollar stores if they were able, and they keep saying that they have to sign up on the list But when she wants to sign up, they won't show it, and then when she wants to go, they'd say there's no room for her. It is really frustrating to do that all the time to a person who just maybe once a month, would like to still get out and not be confined because she has no family. The other thing is, when she was originally put into the Consulate, she was put in with a lady who was comatose, but it was originally a private room. So there is only one closet and when she got there, there was no closet for her to hang her clothes and she had to hang them on the bathroom hanger. She's been there since July 17th and I have done my utmost with the administrator. The lady who was there passed away and my stepdad and she are now in the same room together. She, to this point, still does not have a place to hang her clothes and I really have a problem that they can't even get her a wardrobe. There is no closet -- she does not even have that necessity. They are understaffed and my mom a couple of times did get treated not so nicely, but I know the administrator took care of that. I think they could have more nursing staff. But as for the people, I got nothing bad. They are very nice; the nurses and the help have always been polite, the office lady and everybody. I know there are a lot of budget cuts, which is unfortunate, but I think they try to do a lot. When I was there, they had a singer come in, I've seen them do crafts and have church services and Bingo. They got my mom into physical therapy every day, which is actually helping her again, and I think that is good. I think they are trying as hard as they can to get them involved, not just leave them in their rooms. I've seen the exercises with the wheelchair people where they do a lot of hand exercises and throw the ball. I know my stepdad enjoys his meals; it looks well balanced. They did repainting and cleaned it up, and every time I went in there, it was really clean. So, I got no problems with that. The only problem with the laundry is they keep losing my stepdad's clothes, but hopefully that problem has been resolved now. They are good people. I just think they need more staff. They need to do something to get the meals to the patients a little bit warmer and maybe get my mom to get out once a month.

I didn't care too much for the Consulate Health Care of Winter Haven. My mom used to be in it, but I took her out. The nurses were rude. They don't care too much about the patients. I could sit in the room with my mom for hours and hours, and no nurse would come in to check and see how she was doing; nothing. That's why I took my mom out of there. The facility was clean. I thought it was a good facility. When you first meet the people, they'd seem like the nicest staff, but once the patient gets in there it's a whole different story.
