I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law moved into Westminster Healthcare Center. To be honest, it was the only one that had a bed that was open at the time. Also, they take Medicaid once she runs out of money. When we have been there, they try to pay more attention to her. There is one nurse on staff who does take care of her. But as far as the other ones go, I would say that they're not the absolute nicest. They're OK, but not as warm and fuzzy as I was expecting. My mother-in-law is very happy with the food there. She mentions them playing with this ball and bouncing back and forth with each other, and she enjoys that. They have worked with her on walking, so she is up walking at this point.

Friend is at this awful place. She is left in bed soaked. Staff does not come when called. Her clothes keep disappearing. Her Food is often cold and not what she would like. And she is not transported to her medical appointments in a timely fashion. They are suppose to have access to timely medical transportation but that seems to be a misgiving as well. I walked in and it smells nasty, to many people to a room, looks very unclean. Medicare is paying for these services and I do believe that Medicare needs to be notified of the circumstances at this place. I will never allow any of my loved ones to enter this place for any reason.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mom was a patient @ Westminster Healthcare for 8 years. She loved some of the staff and residents. Unfortunately she passed away on August 2, 2023. She was admitted to Carroll County hospital and the transferred to GW hospital with severe unstageable, pressure wounds in her sacrum area. These were documented within minutes of arriving to Carroll County ER. Of course the staff had no documentation on this, and tried to blame the hospital, which is impossible. My mom ended up with a bone infection & a fracture in her lumbar spine, which contributed to her early demise.

My friend has moved into Westminster Healthcare Center for physical therapy and rehab. I think it's just not organized enough to provide for the residents. I've been there at different times of the day and haven't seen any activities. I have been told that they have activities, but I don't think they make much effort to get the residents to come participate. My friend just wanders around all day without anybody saying, "Hey, come join us in this." It's a shared room. The room is very adequate. My friend has not complained at all. She should be invited to participate in something to keep her constructively busy.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When my mom stayed at Westminster Health Care Center, it was pretty awful. They didn't have enough help; it just wasn't enough people there to help. The aides were always stressed, and sometimes angry. She would lay for two hours before anybody would answer her call bell. She'd lay all night and be sopping wet all the time. It's a very hard time getting anyone to help her there. Their management was awful, just a very rude executive director. Their caseworker was awful too, lied a lot, and wouldn't return phone calls. She wasn't able to participate in anything, but it looked like they did have a list of things. I just never saw any of it happening. There aren't any amenities there, but they have a therapy room where the therapist worked with her. I guess it was clean enough, but it was very old and outdated. It was impossible for someone with a wheelchair or something to get in and out of their bathroom, that was so small. We were still being covered by Medicare for what she's going through right now. I think it's probably one of the ones that are on the cheaper end. So, you could say you get what you pay for. But I did hear that if she had moved out of rehab into skilled nursing, it was still almost $11,000 a month; that would have been sinful to pay that much for what kind of care you get there.

I visited this facility

My brother was staying at this facility, He called for a nurse and after an hour I finally walked up and asked someone to come back. A half hour later one showed up and argued with him about not having to give him his meds every 2 hours as directed by his doctor. He was in for a broken hip, 2 weeks later he died.. I still find that suspicious.

I visited this facility

Golden Livingcenter was nice. The people were very nice, very friendly, and very informative. The rooms looked clean. They had 2 people in it -- which was more better than transition -- so it seemed adequate. I didn't see a whole lot of amenities though. The staff showed a room, she showed us where they eat, and she showed us the rec area. The dining room looked fine though. Golden Livingcenter seemed comparable to the other places.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband was recently in a rehabilitation facility at Golden Livingcenter. It was clean on a very basic level, but the staff was very slow to take away dirty dishes and to empty the porta-potty. Also they didn't bring towels and wash clothes or tell us where they were. Once you call and ask them, they would come and do it, but there didn't seem to be any regular routine as far as picking up things around the bed. The other thing is that it is a very old facility, and there are three beds to every room. There were no reclining chairs in the room for the patient. The driveway up to the building was very rough and full of potholes. It was very difficult to drive through.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

It's close to home; that's why we picked Golden Livingcenter. So far, we're just very happy, and so is my mother-in-law. She said the food is delicious. I would recommend them because it's not overly populated, and the staff is courteous, friendly, and very attentive to the patients.
