Heartland of Westerville

My husband stayed at Heartland of Westerville. The problem was they didn't have memory care. It's a skilled nursing facility. He was not taken care of there. He didn't get any care there. He spent one night at the new facility he's in right now but they had to send him to the hospital. My husband was left in a room kinda like by himself and we could peep through the window. At one time he was on the floor, in a hospital gown, and he was crawling all around on the floor. It was just a bit much. He was supposed to be in memory care but they accepted him and he did not get good care there. When the other facility took him to the hospital he was dehydrated, had severe urinary tract infection, had kidney infection, and liver infection. His care was like nil. When he got ready to leave they had lost his button tees, they lost his eyeglasses, they lost his cellphone, and I got not one stitch of clothes that I put down there. When I put him in there they said they had to have all new stuff, so I went out and bought all new stuff and they still can't find it: tees, glasses, cellphone, clothes, and the three pieces of little carry-on luggage that I took the clothes in. I didn't get any of that. When they transferred him they had him in somebody else's t-shirt, and somebody else's little short-like pants. I don't know, it was a bad place for him. Maybe it's a good place, I don't know, but the experience that I had for my husband was not a good one. I couldn't tell you about the food because he wasn't able to tell me about it, and I never ate when I went in there to see him. I didn't get to get inside of that facility either, but looking on the outside it looked like it was a nice facility. When I looked on my iPad it looked OK on the inside. They had a recreation room, they had a place you went for your therapy and all those type of things. They have what you would expect a facility to have, but my husband was not able to partake. Looking on the facilities from the outside it looked OK.

My Grandfather stayed at The Village of Westerville Nursing Center for two and a half weeks for rehab after his hospital stay. He has emphysema and had gotten bronchitis and pneumonia. During his stay he needed breathing treatments four times per day. The first few days he did not receive his breathing treatments on time and once they even woke him up at midnight because they had gotten the schedule mixed up. That was quite upsetting for the family since these breathing treatments were a very important part of his recovery. He did however receive wonderful physical therapy from very pleasant therapists. He also had two nurses who were sisters who were very good to him and he enjoyed talking with. The food was not bad but the menus that we filled out weekly for my Grandfather were frequently incorrect. They even kept the papers that we filled out and we could see what they missed on his tray. From my review you can see there were some things we liked and others we did not but overall if the family is very involved with their loved one's care then I would recommend this facility.
