I am/was a resident of this facility
I spent two weeks at this facility after having major bypass surgery in 2010. Most of the staff were very good, although a couple of staff were not well educated and not very bright and in my opinion were given too much responsibility considering their skills. I had to be very assertive to get good basic care here when it came to anything but planned therapy sessions or meals. Staff were not attentive when it came to basic care in my room or with bathing. Food was pretty good for institutional food and choices were given. Social services staff and management were very good. I did also have to fight with them a bit though, to get them to bill my insurance for a private room. At first they were not even going to try, although they did provide me with a private room, and they wanted to charge me $100 per day out of pocket. I convinced them to bill my insurance anyway, and it was paid quickly.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My experience with Southview Acres Health Care Center nursing home was over all positive, even though the circumstances for the visit were not. After my grandma's hospitalization, the nursing home provided a quick remedy to provide time between hospital and home. My grandma was well taken care of, as much as she could be at the time. I was only in visit this facility for a few hours, which turned into the last hours I had with my Granmda. She said she was proud of me. I wish my short time with my Grandma wasn't interupted by the Physical Therapist. Regardless, I thought the staff was polite and professional towards families. The Physical Therapist helped provide comfort and mobility during her last days. Every day she while she was living there, she had her meals provided, although she could eat little. which I believe helped her quality of life. My grandma was very religious, and I know she appreciated the prayer services provided. I would recommend this place to as a transitionary home for those in need.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
Southview is an alright place. I don't have a lot of experience with nursing homes as this was the first one to which my grandpa was admitted, but the staff are all very friendly and the care that my grandpa received led him to go back to his (more or less) normal self. Staff are also welcoming to visitors, as they should be, and very aware of the location of individual residents within the building. My grandpa made fast friends with a few of the staff members. The rooms were pretty bare bones and my grandpa did not have a private room. The room had only a twin bed, bedside table and built in dresser and shelf unit. We had to buy him a small television (the home does have cable). There are lots of meals available and apparently the food is very good as my grandpa attempted several times to have second lunch. Most of the residents seemed fairly cheerful and were eager to have conversations. Of course some were not doing so well and the staff was always right there to support them. I give this home 3 stars because of outdated facilities. Even though the home was clean, the space just felt old. I'm not sure if more modern nursing homes have different layouts or more natural light or what. I do know that my grandpa moved away from this home to another and has made significant progress there.
