My father needed sub-acute rehab and a long-term care option, and Daughter's of Israel seemed like a good facility. My father is focused on his rehab. They also have music and card games. They do laundry, there's a barber shop, they provide transportation, and they serve three meals and snacks. The staff is very caring and compassionate.

We have my mother in the Daughters of Israel. The facility needs to be update. I feel it is a little bit not in the best of shape. However, with her being in there for a couple of months, we see that she is getting outstanding care. We did not be feel that she can get it anywhere else. The staff is very accommodating and very caring. They have good numbers of them. The location is very convenient. It is a very large place, and the grounds are OK. The food is excellent. They offered three meals a day, and they do have mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks as well. I think they may even do a before bed snack, if they want. I think they are in line with other facilities in the area.

Ask what the number of aids to patients is. Each aid should have a low number of patients to care for. Six is good. Twenty two is not. The first time my mom was cared for I was pleased. When she returned a few years later, I found she had severe infections from improper care of under the skin lines providing fluids. I regretted having chosen this place for her rehabilitation after hospitalization. I took her home and healed her infections with proper care. They should never have happened. It was a terrible experience.

This is an aesthetically nice place. The care is not good. The staff makes family members and patients feel like they are inconveniencing them. Patients are left for long periods of time and begging for help. It's truly disturbing. Don't put your loved ones through this.

My husband was in Daughters of Israel and I was not happy at all. When I went in, he had food stuffed in his face 3-1/2 hours after he had eaten and he was laid on his back. He was supposed to get the pneumonia and flu shot and he never got it. There were times that I went in, his feeding PEG was filthy. I had to ask them to clean it. The dining room was OK. I would fill up his pitcher by his bedside with a kiwi/strawberry enhanced water on a Wednesday, go back on Friday, and the same water would be in his container. It happened on multiple occasions. They said they could accommodate him with a wheelchair, and it was a week before they got a wheelchair that he couldn't slide out of. They moved him on Thursday, and on Saturday and Sunday he spent the whole day in bed because they didn't have a wheelchair for him. On Monday, they got a wheelchair but it still wasn't good for him. The place was dirty, even the food trays. It looked like they never even came in and cleaned his room. They weren't attentive. I went in one time and he was laying, there were no sheets on, and everything was on the floor. Overall, I wasn't impressed. They did have activities for him, which were posted, and the staff was nice, but they were short staffed.

The Daughters of Israel was beautiful and very nice. They have nice little areas for privacy. It’s a very homey place even though it’s an institution. It’s just very incredibly expensive.

I had high hopes for this facility when they admitted my father. However, in retrospect, I feel that they hastened my father's demise and death, within only a few months of his stay there. The nursing care is haphazard, there is insufficient CNA oversight for the number of residents, the food is often served cold or lukewarm/unappetizing and the activities program is quite limited in terms of interests. Physical therapy and occupational therapy are inconsistently administered and there are no clinical social work services to speak of. I would never admit another relative to this facility.

There truly is none Better. My Mom was cared for in the most kind loving and positive environment from the rehabilitation through a wonderful and long yet productive and at all times medical clinicians who are superb. Thanks DOI
