The experience of getting older and having to move into a nursing facility for care is difficult at best. There probably isn't a single person who would choose to leave their home. But, physical needs and medical needs call for certain changes as a person gets older. Holland Lake is a facility that hires very caring employees - nurses, aides, facility staff, and administration. These folks made my mother and our family feel welcome and treasured from the start. Our mother, who is almost 90 years old, has been at Holland Lake for 9 months now, and it feels like home. Not the same, of course, but just as warm and friendly and comfortable as home. My mother is in a room that has a living room and then two separate bedrooms with a large bathroom. She has a sink in her room as well, and a closet big enough to store all of the clothes she needs. She has a window to let the sun brighten her room. The nurses are always on top of the medications for Mama and bring them to her on a scheduled basis. Her meals are always brought to the room. There is a lovely large, bright dining room available should she choose to eat there with the other folks. The staff have become friends, and all of us have developed a close rapport with them. They do such a good job of helping Mama to feel loved, cared for, safe, and as independent as she can be. At no time has Mama felt like she was not appreciated for who she is. She has made fantastic progress, emotionally and physically, over these 9 months, and she continues to improve. She is not lacking for company, smiles, good food, friendly staff, or professional care. Of course, family involvement is very, very important in the well-being of our Mom. She knows that my brother and I are nearby, and she always has visits from us. If she needs something, we go get it and take it to her. We have also found that visiting with her while she eats her lunch helps her to eat more because of the visits while she eats. The food is good, and there is always a choice between two meals at lunch and dinner. If she doesn't care for one meal, the sweet aides bring her the second choice, no problem. And, they make sure that the food is hot and was good when they take away the meal tray. Someone always comes by to fill the water pitcher with ice and water, and Mama even asks for a hot cup of coffee on occasion. All of these little "niceties" add up to a blessing in anyone's life. Thank you Holland Lake, a remarkable senior living community in Weatherford.

My dad is at Holland Lake. They have everything. The place is beautiful. They offer dominoes, and they have people that come in and sing on Sunday. My dad seems very happy there. We haven't had the chance to necessarily take advantage of all of the amenities, but anyway he is doing very well with it. He is close enough to where I can go see him everyday. The care is exceptional. All of his needs are being met. It is a very nice place. It has always been absolutely immaculate. It is very clean. Everybody is very friendly. Dad has already made a couple of friends. The food is wonderful. There has been plenty of it. They always have snacks available.
