I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If you don't need much help this might be the place for you. If you need help as my 92 year old mother did good luck. Pressing the call button may get someone there in 10 minutes IF your lucky. Most of the staff did just enough to keep their jobs. (there are a few great staff members). And don't even get me started on the weekend crew that mostly lounges around on their phones waiting for their shift to end. When the "Good" M-F day crew was there...my mother-in-law had an accident in her bed and had to wait 20 minutes for anyone to come in. They stripped her bed and put a diaper on her, sat her in a chair and said someone would come in to give her a shower. An hour and a half later we show up to her crying and still waiting for someone to come in. It took another 30 minutes after we got there and kept asking for someone to help her. And then there is the physical therapy. I think the motto is how little can we do, so we can get paid and keep them here longer. Not even given exercises to do outside of the almost hour long PT. Complain to the administrator when she actually shows up for work and you get a lot of CYA. Very disappointing to say the least. If you leave a loved one here that needs help, be prepared to spend a lot of time helping out. Not a lot of difference to care for them at home yourselves. Oh and BTW if you just take them out without them discharging you them, they put in an AMA (Against medical advice) and will not send you home with any meds or PT recommendations. You're on your own to contact your primary physician to get that done. But they really care......

Facility is nice but quality of care is horrible. My dad was hospitalized for 4 weeks with Pneumonia, fractured rib and a UTI due to him being incontinent. This facility was recommended for top notch care. That was a total lie! The staff did not read the notes from the hospital and gave him medication that was discontinued, gave him a straw to drink out of which caused his lungs to aspirate and he is back in the hospital again!!!! With pneumonia and UTI because bladder was never emptied. The LPN did everything in her power to coax me to say but my father had a temperature of 105.5! She gave him Tylenol and said his fever will reduce! I ask them to call an ambulance to have him transported to the Emergency room, 1.5 hours passed no ambulance. I told them I would transport him myself. I arrived at the ER my dad's BP was low and his oxygen. The trauma team rushed him back to get him the aid he needed and started antibiotics for the sepsis. This is ridiculous that a patient in need of care, did not receive the care.

My dad went from the rehab to the nursing home of White Oak Of Waxhaw. It's very clean, has a nice, open feeling, and the layout is efficient. The physical therapy was excellent. The dining area is clean, but the food is boring, because it's for people with a limited diet. They have people come in and do music, they have bingo, and in good weather they have little outings in the bus.

My Grandmother lived here for a few years at the end of her life. She had such wonderful relationships with the staff that cared for her. Some of her favorite times were spent chatting with members of the housekeeping staff. My Grandmother could be a very particular little lady and the staff always went above and beyond to accommodate her wants and needs. The rooms were spacious and every room had its own private bathroom and shower. I loved how each "neighborhood" had a different feel and charm.

My father was on hospice during his stay and I’ve seen dogs treated better in the final days of their lives...had to beg for pain medicine for my dying father and was given biased and judgmental care for the amount of pain medication that was needed and requested despite my father having a stage 5 bed wound which was inccourd there...his final 3 hours he was gasping for air eyes wild and I was told it was normal...nurses weee beyond inept and giving medications...social worker was beyond useless when needed...have to beg and please for a very very low standard of care, in service training in all departments except kitchen needed

My brother and sister in law are there They are together in the same room I was impressed with the facility cheerful and clean However I believe they are understaffed The staff is very hospitable The major problem I'm having is trying to get my brother on the phone occasionally He is near blind but still has good brain function and is able to come to the phone as well as the air phone taken to him I left there the end of Dec 2016 and have tried to talk with him since Not able to get thru

I visited this facility

White Oak of Waxhaw was nice. The problem was the majority of the people were in wheelchairs, and my father did not like that. It was very sad to see people just sitting, and that was a different feeling for him. The people were happy, though. Somebody was there doing magic tricks or was a comedian, and they were having a good time. However, it was more hospital-style. The living quarters and the dining area were nice. The rooms were off the dining room and family area. There were four different buildings that they can walk from one to the next. However, there weren't many people walking. About 90% were in wheelchairs.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The nursing home that she is in is White Oak of Waxhaw. They are outstanding care and service. I've actually used this facility several times for other family members as well. Highly recommended, and that is why we keep going back as we need to. It is a very large room, very private, and very clean. She's got everything she needs. Each community has its own dining room. The food is OK; it has had its good days and bad days like any place, but she is happy there. They have a kitchen area in their dining area that is stocked with ice-cream in snacks form and drinks that are free and open to the residents. They always have a party or a get-together going on. They are always playing Bingo or other social events. The staff is incredible, and they are very caring. They follow up with you, and they stay in touch. Even after she went home the last time, they stayed in touch with her. They are just very generous and concerned about her care.

My mother was at White Oak for 2-1/2 years. She passed away in May. At first this facility was amazing in the care of their residents. My mother's falls became more frequent over the years. The quality of the care and revolving door help has greatly diminished. I do not recommend.

I have a family member that has been at this facility for over 3 years. I do not recommend it. The quality of care, staff turnover, new administrator and many errors in dosing meds plus food choices are really substandard. I'm looking for another facility as I write this review. Their rate changes have constantly gone up over the 3 years also. Nothing new for the patients so I don't understand why the rates have changed so many times.

I tried checking out White Oak of Waxhaw, and I liked it. It was clean, new, and it was just someplace that I thought was perfect because the floors were clean and not rugged, and that is one thing I like.

I visited this facility

Everything is good at White Oak. The staff is good. They're very helpful, and they're on time. It's very clean. I don't see any problems with any of it. I would recommend it. I don't have any complaints about it. They've got musical groups that come in. They had physical therapy where patients sit in chairs, then they kind of dance while they're sitting down. They have musical groups, like they had three people singing songs with three guitarists. They also play bingo and scrabble. It's clean, and they take good care of the people. The patients are well taken care of.
