I am/was a resident of this facility

If your reading this review, then clearly you're looking for a place for your loved one to go and must really care about them, so it may be worth the read. I was placed here after an accident falling off a ladder. I was a resident in their Apple Rehab Watertown short term facility for a month. I was finally discharged today and here is a honest perspective on what I saw from a 37 year olds perspective looking in at your elderly loved ones current situation in life. The nurses and aides care, really care about their residents. Probably love them just as much as you. They do their best to make the experience as pleasurable as a nursing rehabilitation place can be. No patient wants to be here. But this staff does. It's a hard job. Nurses here stay an hour or more after their shift change to make sure every detail about their resident is passed on to the next. The social worker, Joni (everyone's favorite family member) and administrator (the nice blond lady in the lower office 😁) go out of their way to make the experience go as smoothly as possible. Behind the scenes there is a lot going on and if you took the time to actually stand around this place for 2 days you'd notice everyone is working their tail off to make this all happen; And they are great at it and wouldnt, not for a minute, jeopardize their medical license to provide sub par care. If there is something you don't like, speak up and let them know nicely. They will immediately help the situation. The food is hospital food. Some meals are amazing at times, but remember the there are dietary restrictions for a reason. If you don't like what's on the menu, feel free to Uber Eats your loved one a meal, you. It was easier for me. What your loved one wants the most is you. You, to help them through this hard time in their life...If you can't make it everyday, then you better call or video chat bc it will make their whole day. I can't tell you how many rooms of residents I visited while here and every single one of these wise old souls said something about the last time they heard from x or y in their family. You were this person's whole life and they love you. Companionship is key. You want the best care, send them here. You want the best life for your spouse, parent, sibling, grandparent especially, then if you can't make it, coordinate others to come stay and visit with them. If not, you better call them and not for 5 minutes. A broken heart can kill you but this staff won't. And I mean this. I had an experience that was life changing. I never did many visits to hospitals and others things of the sort often before this and I will say after this, I will visit as often as possible to anyone this situation, bc I know personally, it will trully make their day. Hopefully you will make the best choices for your loved ones and this review will put in perspective what your loved one really needs for care beyond what this great place provides. Also, to all the nurses and aides and staff in general, thank you for helping me get through my days here making the experience pleasurable in the Crestbrook block and treating me like family. Keep the energy and laughter throughout your careers and never stop setting the bar high for your co-workers that work with you. Alda, Hailstones, Lori, Trish, Lisa (ty)Tara, B, Carrie, Deidra, Diana, Stephanie M(my marvel girl),Jonielle, Tammy, Louise, Denise, Amanda , May, Jordan gl and Caprice 🍕😁 btw thank you, for allowing me to drive you nuts but also for being amazing at your jobs and leaving an impression to last a lifetime. And for those that didn't make the list, sorry I'm not great with names. And with that, I'm out. 🎤💧

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The facility is very clean. The staff is very friendly. The rehab personnel is very attentive, Even the visiting students were on the job answering a ringing bathroom call as they were passing by that i witnessed. The lunch room is bright and friendly for the residents. My Mom needed extra care and we saw her receiving it. She enjoys the electric bed and the TV with her favorite channel of old movies.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Dad had a heart valve operation and a stroke after the operation, so he went into Apple Rehab Watertown. They were wonderful there, but we found that there was not enough staff to take care of him. Sometimes, he was left by himself when he needed some help, and we didn’t truly like that. Other than that though, they were very cooperative. They did the best they could with him. They did some psychological testing with him, and he was sitting with somebody and talking because he had lost his wife a year before. In the end, we made some wonderful liaisons with some of the nurses that were there. They were very good and fooled around with him, making him laugh, joking about the Red Sox and the Yankees, and they kept his spirits up. My friend’s mother was in there at the same time, and they said the same thing. It wasn’t a private room. Sometimes, you came in and they were dueling with the television volumes, and it was kind of crowded.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Overall this facility appears quite nice. The nursing staff professionalism lacks. often times poor judgement has left my family member in vulnerable health risky situations. Their Rehabilitation dept was excellent and taught wonderful life saving skills. Nurses aides needed more training and accountability. It seems poor management originated at the top of this one particular facility placing patients at risk.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

From my personal experience this facility is well run and kept clean. The grounds to this place are well kept and have a nice outdoor sitting area for residents. The amenities in this place vary by personal opinion and taste. One thing that is good is all the activities they have scheduled for the seniors such as bingo, art classes and movie night. The downfall to the amenities would be the food. My grandmother often complained about the bland taste and lack of creativity. This could also be personal opinion but on some visits, I looked at the food and it didn't look that appealing. Also I gave them 3 stars because of the food and because of certain employees they have working there. My grandmother often complained about the lack of professionalism and how some workers treated her disrespectfully. I don't think this goes for all the employees as some nurses I met were very friendly and seems to do a very good job. Overall I think this facility is nice but just needs to add a little more effort to the food and make sure the staff is always trained on how to handle guests.

I visited this facility

My mother owns a healthcare agency and had a client in this facility. While working with my mother's company for several years, I had a few experiences in this nursing home. It was always clean, smelled good, and has a few small areas for the residents to sit outside of their rooms. Although the nurses always seemed somewhat friendly and personable, my experiences always left me with the impression that they needed to be managed a bit better. They seemed a bit lazy. The nurses got to things when they felt like it and I felt as though there wasn't really anyone watching over them or creating a schedule. The care at the facility, however, was good and I never saw anything that would raise an alarm as unsafe or unhealthy. Overall, I would recommend Apple Rehab to another client or a client's family.
