I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms in Southmont are very clean. The nurses are excellent. However, the aides are not very friendly. The call button wait time is a minimum of 15 minutes, usually longer. The aides act annoyed if you request any assistance.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Advice from a previous patio home owner at Washington Sr. Presbyterian independent living. Review all the governing documents carefully before buying. Be aware there are 4 different HOAs with their own Rules/Regs with no boundaries visible on this large campus. A MUST: Learn about the FEDERAL laws in place to protect homeowners and the parameters in which an HOA Board must govern. Especially important bc PA has no laws to protect community homeowners from unfair or illegal treatment. The Declaration, By Laws and Rules and Regulations provided to new homeowners are not specific enough to help those who are new. There are many unwritten rules that long term staff and residents do not realize are not written. Talk to neighbors and learn ASAP after moving in. Get to know your Board Members so they know you, again, asap. Washington Sr. Presbyterian Independent areas are in their first major transition bc the original owners are moving to another level of care. When they first moved there all were very mobile, had dogs but they are now older and much less tolerant -- their own stories of living there have not been applied forward for the new residents. Be very cautious before you buy-- know whether your Board is older or more progressive and tolerant. Know yourself too -- can you deal with a Board that might micro manage your life or might turn "rogue" on you because you made a mistake. Rogue is the word used all over our country, bc it happens a lot. Aside from this, the campus is very nice, people are generally very friendly and the food that independent owners can order, is very good.

I visited this facility

Presbyterian SeniorCare was very nice. I liked it. They have some rooms with three beds in it, which I don't like because it's too crowded. Most of the rooms were two bedrooms with a wall that separates them, so it seemed like more of a private room even though they share a bathroom. It's like they have their own little room there and it seemed to be more spacious. The activities were very good. They always have someone coming in to share music with the patients, holiday activities, worship services, and I have been to their physical therapy room and it was very good. The staff was very good.

Presbyterian SeniorCare provided very good service for our needs. They have different music and dance activities. My mom has also done some baking and crafts, Bible study and read the newspaper. The building that we go to always looks great and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. They offer food and snacks to the seniors. Its been very positive, and if we need more care we would look there for sure.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have been sitting with a gentleman who was up there for therapy. His health declined so fast, and i do believe in part it was because of the poor care he recieved. He was left in bed so much. he was elderly and they put a diaper on him, when he asked to go to the bathroom they would say go in your diaper. he was drugged so much there that most of the time he was out of it. Needed to call for a nurse on time and no one would answer the bell went out in the hall looking for someone could not find any one this went on for a good while...finally had to call them on my phone to talk to someone, The care their is horrible, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The staff is very friendly, for starters. The rooms are always clean (both the visiting rooms and the senior's rooms). There's a pretty warm atmosphere, and my grandmother seems to enjoy it there. She says their rehabilitation program is really good, but I'm not exactly qualified to judge it. It has helped her knee significantly though. On the negative side, the food could use a little sprucing up. It's about on par with hospital food. I mean, I guess it's nutritious enough, but it's certainly not the greatest tasting (or looking) food. Presbyterian SeniorCare also is not the greatest with paperwork. They lost my grandmother's papers twice, and they've been known to loose other people's papers as well. They could probably use some better organizational skills in their managment department. THey eventually found the papers, but it was a headache in the meantime. All in all though, I would definitely reccomend Presbyterian SeniorCare to those with elderly loved ones. It's warm, friendly enviornment outweigh a little unapetizing food and slight disorganization any day.

Visited this facility

I took a tour of Presbyterian SeniorCare while I was searching for nursing homes for clients of mine. This is a rather large facility and we were given an in depth tour of all that it has to offer. Of all of the nursing homes that I had toured, this one was by far one of the nicer ones. One of this first things that I notices was that all of the staff were very friendly and seemed to genuinely care about their jobs and the patients that they took care of here. This did not only include the person giving the tour and the directors that we met with, but all the way down to the kitchen staff. I was impressed with the professionalism of all of the staff there. In addition, the facility was one of the cleanest that I had ever seen. All of the residents that we met appeared happy and well taken care of by the staff. There were large grounds to walk around and many events for the residents to partake in. I was overall extremely impressed with this facility.
