I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband stayed at Father Murray, a Villa Center. He was there for one month, and I had to get him out of there. It was awful. He was put in there with three beds in a room, squeezed between two beds. You could hardly get between the beds. The first time I went in to see him, he was in bed with no blankets and a dirty, wet diaper. I told them he needed to be changed, and they said they couldn't change him because it was dinner time. He has to wait. So I took him into the bathroom, took the wet diaper up, and put a new one on, but I didn't have anything to wash him up with. There were no towels or toilet paper in the bathroom. I had to bring in blankets for him because they didn't have any. The next time I went to see him, there were no blankets again. I didn't get those blankets back until I was moving him out over three weeks. He froze in that place. The food was horrible. The staff was not very helpful. He had to wait forever for anything. The activities lady was very good about getting him up and out once a day because he wouldn't go the rest of the day, but she was there to help him get up. That's the only thing that I could say that was good about the facility. They need blankets. They need more staff and friendlier staff. They have the people in locked units. It's overcrowded.

Staff is terrible This place smells and rooms aren’t cleaned needs a major renovation there are two people in a room in Room is not thoroughly sanitized. staff shows no respect for patient. Acts very nonchalant puts no effort in to show any concerns outside of coming in the room and talking to you like you aren’t human in this place was recommended to me from the social worker at Sinai Grace I would not let my dog stay here.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Since my mother has been in this facility, I will say when greeting the staff, all but one seem friendly. However, my mother has been in over a week and I have been to visit multiple times, I have only seen a nurse attend to her once, I have not seen her doctor or physical therapist at all. She stated that she has only had physical therapy once. the other day my mother pressed the nurse call button, it took 45 min for someone to respond. The responding nurse asked what was wrong then stated she would let my mother's nurse know. More than 30 minutes passed and there was still no response from her nurse. Dinner was served a short time later and still no response. In walking from the room to the elevator, many of the staff have their faces in their phones or goofing off at the nurse's station while patients are calling for help and being ignored. The floor next to my mother's bed was sticky for four days before it was cleaned. There are no chairs in the rooms for visitors to sit in. I guess that is so they won't stay too long and see how little care is being given. I had received a call from the 'social worker' and when returned the call, I told her what day and time I would be there and never heard from her again. Same situation with someone named Nicole about the care for my mother. I see why the list from Ascension rated this one star.

My wife is in Father Murray Nursing Center. It's adequate for what I need right now. She eats in her room, and they bring it in a timely manner. She's in a nondescript semi-hospital room. There's nothing special about it. It's got a television and a telephone. The staff is friendly and timely. I only visit her about three hours a day. I would recommend this facility if they need someone to look after their loved one. The parking was good and the upkeep was good.

My brother when for rehabilitation from hospital. I realize due to virus that everyone is short of staff. Explain how a grown man who goes in April weighting 155 pounds currently weight 100 pounds. He received no rehab and I be told he is dying. Hospice has been called in. They do not keep his hygiene needs current. Family member who visit had to wash his face brush his teeth He is so weak he is unable to leave bed. Please please don't let your Love ones be place in this place. (people die here)

I'm in Father Murray Villa center. The staff is pretty good, they're pretty attentive, but then I got problems with my roommate because she wants the lights on all night, and I can't sleep with the lights on. Most of the staff is very good. I'm gaining weight because there's too much starch on the food. It tastes good, but it's not meant for me. I have to have low carbohydrates, and they're not giving me that yet.

My son has cerebral palsy & is totally dependent on care. He has been at Father Murray`s approximately 2 month`s. He was rushed to St Johns hospital in critical condition. He is 57 & when he got to the hospital He only weighted 64 lbs & was completely dehydrated. He is still critical & the outcome does not look good. This is the kind of care he received from them. Please do not put a loved one at this place. Not only is the care terrible but the rooms are dirty. He had thrown up at night & when my daughter went to see him the next day. he had vomit still on his face & on his clothes.

My brother was at Father Murray for a year and a half. I really wasn’t happy with them or with the service he got there. One staff member that finally quit was the only one that I thought was really good. She was the manager and said that she couldn’t take it anymore and had to get out of there. They treated the patients like they were children and not adults. They had some activities but not a whole lot. They played bingo and had a guy who did musical things with them. The food was decent.

They have 3 beds in each tiny room, no room to have visitors, the only place to visit is in the dining rooms. The residents are mostly in wheelchairs and most sit in the hallways with not much else to do. The tvs in the rooms are so tiny...it would be a wonder if they can actually watch them...usually the volume is turned up very high and residents fight over that. Its very depressing. They lose laundry and my aunts coat went missing in Febuary and has not been found. My anut got scabies on her back! I can only imagine due to crowding and uncleanliness. My husband who is from England was horrified by the conditions here. If you have a choice, dont put family here!

I am a friend or relative of resident

When my relative developed dementia and needed some rehabilitation after a hospital stay, she was moved here. The nursing and therapy staff did an excellent job providing care. Moreover, they provided updates on my relative's health. They followed our instructions and were invested in her care.

I really liked the customer service that they had at Father Murray. I liked the staff; everybody was very considerate, warm, very knowledgeable, and helpful. They were concerned about my needs for my father. I liked how they called and updated me when things had happened due to the fact that I am out of the city. I did get great customer service. The rehab side was very neat and very clean.

This facility is meant for people that drop their family off and never come visit..there are no common areas to go visit with your family. The only places to visit are in the residents room-which usually doesn't even have 1 chair or the dinning rooms. There is an outside area that is decent when the weather is nice but the only way to access it is through the PT room and if no one is there forget it you cant go, and you must require a pass from the nurse, even when family is present. The front entrance there is no where to take family outside its just a parking lot, so the only time anyone can go outside is when the physical therapy room is in use, and they leave early on weekends when families come, so they are couped up inside all day all spring and summer long. They have minimal activities and they are all downstairs which makes it hard for the residents upstairs to get to, you must take the elevator and its hard for some residents to wheel themselves down there. Staff is ok I haven't had any complaints really but they really need to make this place for visitor friendly. Some of the rooms have been remodeled but most are very uninviting and old, cement walls and tile flooring. No computers or library or anything like that for residents. My mother says the food is awful. Im sure there are worse places out there but if your staying for long term, look for something else. If your only going to be there for rehab and going home I guess its not so bad but they def need to update some things. Most of the residents are all parked out in the hallway in their wheelchairs and sit there all day

I visited this facility

I think Father Murray Nursing Center is an excellent choice for placement for someone who is looking for placement for a friend or family member. Father Murray Nursing Center is a faith based Nursing facility. While there, I noticed that the residents were pleasant, happy and socializing with one another it also offers a Homey environment tastefully decorated and inviting common areas. A varied menu prepared on daily basis to meet all residents' nutritional and dietary needs. 24 hour nursing care provided by Registered Nurses and Licensed Professional Nurses, Restorative Aides, and Certified Nurse Assistants, Visiting Physicians to attend to coordinate their residents' individual needs as necessary. They also offer their residents a specific Plan of Care to meet their individual needs. They offer Rehabilitation, Long Term Care, Hospice and Respite Care. Their residents receive compassionate care that is tailored to fit their individual needs as necessary. The facility is beautiful and does not smell in addition too their residents are treated like family. They also offer their residents a varied number of recreation and activities to keep them busy and active. Their residents also get excellent care there. In general, I would rank this facility a five stars rating for its excellence and expertise. I would also recommend this facility to everyone and anyone 50 and over because I know that they will do well there and I know that they would like it there.
