I visited this facility

We had a very nice visit at Longwood at Oakmont. We were actually in a one-bedroom apartment, and we had a very nice, long visit with a lady who gave us a bunch of information. We walked through the common area and saw the restaurant and the foyer. What I liked about it was the openness and the condition of the facility. It was in excellent shape. The oldest wing is only like 30 years old, so it's not that old. The setup at Longwood for independent living sounded perfect for my mother-in-law. They have a dining room and there's an allocated budget amount that a resident can use to eat in the restaurant for as often as they wish, up to the allotted monthly amount. They have all kinds of facilities, a gym, a swimming pool, and a sauna. They have housekeeping that comes in once a week, and laundry. In the apartments you can have a washer/dryer and a full kitchen. The one-bedroom apartment we were in had a little patio out the back where you could go and sit. They had all kinds of financing options. You have to be able to walk in there and basically start in independent living, and then if your condition deteriorates, you can transfer into assisted living or the nursing home. My mother-in-law can get around on a walker, so she would be eligible for that facility. I like that it provides independent living and you can just simply move into the assisted living or the nursing home as your condition may change. The information handouts were very detailed about apartment layouts and various facilities they have available. The lady answered all our questions and took up almost two hours of her time, and she didn't bat an eyelash. She was topnotch professional. From what we saw both outside and inside, walking through part of the facility to get to the wing where the apartments were at, I would give them a five-star rating.

The rooms at Longwood at Oakmont were nice sized. They had an on-site shuttle, activities, transportation to the doctor, shopping, and 24-hour emergency services. They had all the appliances, and you pay for the utilities. If you were sick, you could get tray service. They had housekeeping, cable, and 3 dining rooms. The staff was very nice. They even had Bingo, a beauty shop, cards, yoga classes, a pool, a theater, and plays.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law was at Longwood at Oakmont for about 10 years, so I became familiar with it. I would call it a first-class place. I thought it and the staff was very good. She went in there in for independent-living and then she got Alzheimer's, slipped into assisted living, then died there. They couldn’t have been any better. They were just wonderful. Their activities were very good. They took them to the movies once a week and played bridge. They kept them well occupied. The food was not bad. I had dinner there a couple of times and thought the food was very acceptable.

My visit in Longwood at Oakmont was good. We got good information, and the woman in marketing was good. I was pretty familiar with the facility to start with, but I just cannot make a decision if I'm going to go.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Longwood at Oakmont is huge, big, and a lovely facility. There's lots of room to walk. They have a high-rise building, which is absolutely gorgeous. They also have separate little cottages, and they are nice. They have good food and lots of entertainment for the residents. I have friends there, and they have invited us over. This facility is the place to go.

I visited this facility

I was able to visit Longwood at Oakmont several times and it's a beautiful facility. It has got more square footage than most places. The apartments are very nice and they are relatively new and big. They have walk-in showers and walk-in closets. Their dining room has big open space with table for four. The people there seemed to be very nice. They have plenty of activities for the residents.

I visited this facility

I saw the Longwood of Oakmont. It is a beautiful, but I couldn't afford that. It was too expensive. I had friends living there and they invited me for dinner. The apartments and the dining room were lovely. The food was excellent. I liked the size of the rooms.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I was very disappointed. MY father was a licensed nursing home administrator and actually helped this facility get hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding over his career. When he wanted o go to a nursing home, he and my mother always said this was the place. It was outrageously expensive at $9,000.00 per month and the quality of the facility was no better than a $3000.00 per month place my mother in law was in. It was a beautiful exterior and grounds. They crammed my dad into a make shift room that was once a storage closet. The staff were not very attentive and sometimes I would come to visit, notice his HELP light was on and go to the desk. The person at the desk would say that it must have just gone on which I never believed.
