I visited this facility

Lawrence Street Health Care Center was big, and it had a lot of stuff going on. Personally, I don't think my mom would like it there because the rooms are really small, even the shared rooms are extremely tiny. She would not like that place at all. The staff member who gave the tour was great. Everybody there was really nice. They pretty much had the same stuff, except that it's more of a nursing home type facility than it is like assisted living. They had activities, medication management, and meals. There's no garden, but there's a beauty salon.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

It was horrible to be at Lawrence Street Health Care Center. In a month, my dad lost 27 pounds. He was just throwing up and they wouldn't give him anything for him. The director of nursing just kept saying, "Oh, he probably only has maybe a few weeks to live". That was back in April and now it's August, he's still here. As far as physical therapy, they were supposed to have done that each day, but they would just come and say, "Oh okay. If you don't feel like it, that's okay." Of course, they charged for that and didn't do anything. They just go give him a spray down with some water and it was cold. There were days, they wouldn't give him showers. They would say, "Oh, yeah, we did." I said, "I've been here every day, all day, and no. you haven't showered him." It's just things like that that they're supposed to do. The director of nursing's idea was that he is old, so they're not going to care for him, and that's certainly not the way that you do that. I can't believe that they're still in business. It was just terrible. Instead of having the cream of the crop working for them, it was more like the bottom of the barrel. They have a big turnover of employees. The director of nursing's office was two doors down from my dad's. I said, "Do you even go in there and look at him?" And by just glancing, you could tell how much my dad has gone down and lost weight. Anyway, after a long ordeal, they finally called 911. They came and picked him up and we went to the hospital. He was there for ten days and they were just fabulous there. I have nothing but the highest praise for that hospital. The food at Lawrence Street Health Care Center was tolerable and you could get some nutrition from it, but as far as anything good about it, not really. Some of the residents were in wheelchairs and they would put them in front of a TV, and that's all I ever saw them do. They cost even higher than the personal care home (that was so wonderful) he is in now.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If you are accepted into their new memory care facility, you will be please. If you are admitted into regular skilled nursging care, you might be please for a few days, but the simply are always understaffed and ":short-handed". My husband was admitted to memory care, then kicked out because he was doing better. They ut his into regular nursing care where I e-mailed everyday, and the administrator labeled it as "harassment. when It was cried for help. My husband's brother also independently broughit to their attention that his brother wasn't doing well after being moved from memory care. They lied and said, mu huavnad was doing "much better' on that side. after mu e0maioling them all weel telling them he was not doing well. After only a week and a half, my husband lost 15-20 pounds because he needed memory care. They just throw threw the meal in and he slept through it, so they picked it up. They allowed him to lose too much weight that his fairly new denture no longer fit. They now want me to pay $4,000 dollars for new dentures that fit perfectly and they allowed him to be in a position where they no longer fit. Some of the nurses are nice (nurse Jeanine is nice) some of the are not. The CNA' are soeotkmes nice, sometimes not. A lot of people work there because it's the only job they can get. It's not because they care and want to care of the elderly. It's just a job and it shows through their attitude. They make my husband sit in his own poop in the diaper when he begs them to take him to the toilet, which is he perfectly capable of using. They tell him just let it go and we will clean you after lunch. Imagine having to eat lunch sitting in a diaper that has poop in it. Even after lunch, they still don't come. They come when they get ready and no until them. Much of it isn't their fault. They are short staffed at all time and do not have the staff to handle the number of residents. Therefore, my husband is sorely neglected. We are stuck. I can't go outside of Tomball because of certain limitations. I'm under sis cares as well. They're all in Tomball. So we really feel stuck and we were lied to that he would be in memory care. He is not in memory care. We left place where he had been or three and a half years with no complalints ONLY because they said memory care was best and they were right. It was best. Ive talked to others, the criteria they gave me was faulty. I will be checkin into it further. I have a case pending with the state, The yard now reaching out to the hospital for records. I personally, would not leave so much as a hamster in their care overnight. It is heartbreaking me that my husband is stuck there. I would never choose Lawrence Street under any curcusmstancs. They lean heavily toward the administrative and very highly toward the actual care workers that determine the level of care the residents use. It makes for very poor care for the residents. If you have someone there, you will need at least a daily advocate for that person, if they are not able to advocate for themselves. These facilities tend to be far more comfortable with pe9ple dying than with people living tthe heir best most productive golden years. The social worker came directly from a hospice job, and is one of the ones who is comfortable with death, but maybe not so much life. That is my informed opinion and my belief, based on being at the facility nearly every day and being very involved with my husband's care.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I stayed at Lawrence Street for several months after a major operation. I can not begin to express the gratitude that I have for these fine nurses and aides. From the moment I got there it was so positive and was nothing like I had pictured. The whole place was updated and it looks brand new inside. It smelled so clean and fresh (which was a big worry of mine) and it felt like a hotel. The rooms are large and they have private bathrooms. The staff is amazing and the rehab team had me up and taking steps within days. They have a wound care nurse who was very good and I could tell she knew her stuff. My wound was healed after she saw it everyday and I never had any infections or pain. I can not say enough about the good, caring people. Many had been there for years. And, believe it or not, the food was really good! Try it and you will see, this place is top notch!!!

Their doctors and nurses are capable and qualified. My uncle and his wife stay long term here. We have experienced doctors and nurse practitioners visits regularly. The medical care has been top notch the entire time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the services at Lawrence Street Health Care Center.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister is at Lawrence Street Health Care Center and they have memory care as well. She has a monitor, she cannot go out the door, and she has a bracelet, so it's kind of locked down already. She's not allowed to go out the front door unless a family member takes her. They have Medicaid. It's an older facility and they're understaffed. She doesn't like it there, and she doesn't like the food. The business manager is very good, very accommodating, and does a good job. The nursing staff does the best they can. They've been nice to me, but they're overworked.

Wow, what a skilled place for rehab and nursing. The staff is caring. They engage residents and anticipate needs all day long. My family member was there and was provided care beyond what we expected. One lady was there and didn't didn't for almost 2 years. Well she sure does now and went home. Great job everyone!!!!!

I visited this facility

I Visited this facility for my dad. The office manager, Mrs. Hicks, was soknowledgeable and friendly. She explained the entire process to my brother and I. She even provided us with Medicaid information. We called her with questions after we left and she made us feel like family. I think we found a place for our dad.
