We went to visit a senior friend at this place and the entire building was 95 degrees, stifling. Our friend was over medicated, not eating and had untreated UTI. We had her moved and she was taken to the Emergency room. She was septic, had bed sores and dehydrated. She was on the verge of death...make your own judgment of the place but this is a toned down review..

1. Always short staffed 2. Staff is rude and uninviting 3. Everyone always have their phones out 4. Management is no where to be found. And if you have any issue, they make you solve it on your own 5. If you try to call, the phone just rings and rings. The staff doesnt answer the phone 6. Don't ever leave management a voicemail because they admitted they never check it

My husband was at The Villas at Sunny Acres. He was in there for rehab. The appearance was okay. It seemed to be good. But I have a little problem with how they take care of someone. I believe the nurses and the doctors were equipped like they're smart and they know what they're doing. The doctor came in and talked to me and said, we'll look at the chart and we're going to help your husband and we're going to get him the therapy that he needs, and so forth. He had a catheter that he had since he was in the hospital. I think he had it for almost a week at the hospital. His private doctor told me that they should take that out or he'd be getting an infection. I told them at The Villas at Sunny Acres that they should take the catheter out and that my husband should be checked for infection. They said, okay. He was supposed to go to a urologist to do that, but they didn't call. Then they took it out, and the next day his stomach swelled up and he was in a lot of pain. I called the nurse and I said, 'Why is his stomach so hard?' And she looked at him, and then she said, 'I'll check out his urine.' So they did that and he wasn't able to go to the bathroom, so it was building up inside. They drained it out, and then they put the catheter in again, and he proceeded to still be in bed, not able to do the therapy. They told him that they have to move him to long-term care, so he was taken to another facility, and he was there for two weeks. I think the care of the nurses and so forth was great, but I just don't think that they checked people personally. It's like the doctors say, 'It's on the chart. This is how it is.' They mean well, but they don't go and check that person in. When I think of the urinary things, they should have taken him to a urologist to see why he was not able to go, instead of just giving him a catheter. They were equipped to take care of my husband as a bedridden. When he needed a little more care, he didn't get it because they didn't have enough staff, and they said they were short- staffed. He did therapy maybe three or four times, but he wasn't really able to stand up or do that, so they didn't do it. The therapists were nice. They tried but he was just really weak, and that's why they told me they had to move him. The price was outrageous, but I would say that all the nursing homes are outrageous.

My mother has moved into The Villas at Sunny Acres. We're very happy with her there. It's been good. They're taking good care of my mom. The people are very friendly. She's in memory care. The staff is very nice. I've never had a problem with them. Her room is nice. She shares it with another lady and everything's good. Everything's nice and clean. The dining room is nice. They have lots of tables with four people at each table, and it's set up kind of like a little restaurant. They have an activities director. I've never been there when they've been doing stuff, so I don't know anything about what their activities are. She's been there for two months now. They charge a lot, but she is getting good care and that's what we care about.

My uncle moved into The Villas At Sunny Acres. They are very wonderful. They have a caring staff. They have drawing, coloring, music, prayer, movies, snacks, and walks outside. The residents seem to like the food. They take precautions to make sure no one gets in or out without the nurses, staff, or senior staff knowing it. My uncle's room is big and clean. The room is divided by a bathroom that they share, but he has his own sink, mirror, and closet. It's quite spacious. They have a dining area, a TV area, and a little game area, and it connects to an outside patio, which is humongous. From the admission to the CNA staff, house cleaning, and laundry person, they are all very good at what they do. They are very polite, courteous, and very professional. They go above and beyond their regular duties.

We visited The Villas at Sunny Acres. We also knew friends from church that had their parents there. They seemed very flexible. They had a lot of things to do if you wanted to join them, but if you wanted to be by yourself and do your own thing, that was fine, too. They had gardening, crafts, a small do-it-yourself shop with tools and people to help, and dinners to celebrate different things. It was a well-rounded assortment. There's also needlework and cross stitching. The chairs in the waiting area and the halls had cross stitch coverings on the pads. So, they had a lot of homemade things. The independent living had little cottages that had outdoor patios and even a little area where you could have your own garden. On your patio, you could have your charcoal grill. The parking was just crowded, but they were actually working an additional parking lot, which wasn't done yet

Mom said the care staff in rehab and food were good, and I can agree with that. Therapy was good. But, extremely understaffed routinely and night of arrival was one contracted care giver for ALL the residents. Facility has not been kept up, with Mom needing to be moved at one point due to leak in roof that filled a large trash can. Some people live there full time, and said that room had a leak, so obviously known and not repaired. Small cramped rooms, roommate with only a curtain between. Sheets had holes in them. One wooden chair in room for visitor. When not in bed, resident sat in wheel chair. Bathroom old and hard to manuever with walker or wheelchair, no private shower. No pictures on walls, very dismal. My Grandmother lived at Sunny Acres for 10 years, both in an independent living apartment and memory care. That is one reason we chose this facility when Mom needed rehab, plus fairly good ratings and reviews. What we experienced here was nothing like our previous contact with this facility. Very disappointed and sad. It's a disgrace.
