I am/was a resident of this facility

They sold the property to a new buyer and the new buyer wouldn't standby all the arrangements made with the previous owners and pushed us out of our place after living with them for 7 years. My ex-husband used to volunteer there too. We did a lot for them and in the end they threatened to ruin our lives and out credit if we didn't move out.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm live here and I'm very happy where I am. I'm in an independent living now, and it's great. It's goes from independent to assisted and everything, but it's very small. I have a two-bedroom apartment and a view of the Taos Mountain. It's really a beautiful setup. It just changed hands. They have maybe ten assisted living beds at the most. They bring us our lunch every day if we wanted, and that's it. We also have a thing we wear around our neck if we fall down. It's perfect for me. My family is all gone now, so I've got tremendous support. The head of nursing has been so great. I've only been here about five years and she's just made director of the whole place now, so she's so good. There are 60 apartments here. We're all spread out kind of. It's all very early New Mexico architecture, so it's not tall. Taos is a very independent, arty town, so it's like that. For independent living, the staff is on-call down at the medical center, and like I say, we've got this thing we're supposed to wear around our neck and they come running if we push the button, and there's also one on the wall in my hallway that I can pull. The cat did it once and they came running down, "What can we do?" and they called an ambulance. What I love about it is the size of the place. It's quite small, and so therefore we're all very kind of closely connected. I like it. Every Monday I have a meditation class. They offer other stuff, too, a lot of physical kinds of things that I haven't paid too much attention to. We're offered the option of having our lunches served in our homes or at the bistro, which is kind of a cafeteria setting that is near, and we have a library there. However much we prefer, we can do. The food is good. Our chef is Native American, so it kind of leans toward the southwestern menu. It's healthy and very well prepared. I have no complaints except it's just not my taste all the time. The facility is wonderful, very well kept, very traditional southwestern and even Indian. It really honors that tradition. It's an old facility, so it's not really ultramodern, but we have heat and a lot of personal attention if we have any trouble with any of that stuff. There's an exercise room. I pay $3,000 a month including utilities. Housekeeping comes once a week to do deeper cleaning. We have security. We have anything I really could think of. I think that's probably a pretty good rate, including medical attention and everything.
