There are some staff members who are really nice, but basic care is often poor. Yes they are friendly, and I know some of their staff members care, but still the job does not get done. Their doctor is the worst; he does not communicate well with the family. He does not handle pain management well. Trying to keep our family member out of pain, warm and her teeth clean is a nightmare. You might as well go talk to the walls.

My father was at Westwood Health and Rehab after his stroke and he has to have assistance with getting around and in the bathroom. He seems to be in good hands there and is well liked by the people who are taking care of him, even in difficult moments because he's always been pretty stubborn. They work with him really well. He's by himself in a private room. They have semi-private rooms there also. His room is kept nice and neat and he's got a minimum amount of furniture. He's got whatever he needs there. He's extremely picky about what he eats, but they make an effort to put in things for him that he likes. I like the way the staff members treat my dad. They're friendly to him and they treat him like family. They have activities, but he chooses not to be involved with anything other than rehab. The rehab room and exercise room happen to be across the hall from his room. There are physical therapists there and they bring their people in and work with them. They have a room for crafts and things of that sort, and they have people come in to entertain and play music. It's an older facility, but it seems to be kept up pretty decently.

I had my dad there for Rehab After he was in the hospital. There was only one or two nurses who seemed to care about any of the people there. For her I am thankful. Other than that, He had multiple items taken from his room while he was there. They would run out of food for the people staying at this place. The person in charge I can't remember her name. But she said she was a nurse and her title was like director or something. She was so rude when I interacting with her about these things. Her demeanor that she plain didn't care. One of the floor people Shawna or Shannon was always yelling at residents when I was in there. So glad to have my dad home. He will never go back there.

We have my dad at Westwood Health and Rehab. The people there are phenomenal. They are very hands on and very kind. They take time to answer our questions, and they are all very upbeat. I love the staff. Overall, it is a good experience. For us, it is hard leaving him, but they constantly help us through that process too. My dad's room is a basic nursing home room. They put him by the window, which is sweet. We have not brought a lot of his personal things in because he doesn't realize he is not going home, but his roommate has his whole area decorated. I know they offer activities. My dad is in the Alzheimer's unit, which is a lock down unit, so they do not have as many activities in his unit, but they have been taking him upfront at our request to play bingo and stuff like that. He does not partake in a lot of the activities by his own choice. The security in the unit he is in is phenomenal.
