I am a friend or relative of a resident
My father-in-law was in Good Samaritan Society during rehabilitation. They're a Luther-affiliated group and they had non-denominational services. Everything was very professional, very clean; a very caring staff. The rehabilitation folks worked their thing extensively. The food was good. He was at a private room and it was adequately furnished and kept in good condition. They offered a lot of diversions for them. They had entertainers come in, singers and people who would do things with the folks. They did offer services such as transportation to doctor's appointments. They went to the local grocery stores. They need to improve the condition of some of their furnishings like their wheelchair access. He was in there under the coverage by Medicare for rehab. We thought as long as he was rehabbing, we had 90 days but all of a sudden, they decided that he wasn't improving. They called us and gave us 3 days notice and said he's going to private pay in 3 days. That put us in a bind to do something. We spent some money on a lawyer that we really didn't need to because we wanted some answers quickly and didn't give any help in that direction.
