I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Please send your loved one somewhere else! My mom has been here twice for "rehab". The first time, she almost went septic from a UTI that they missed despite her having the textbook rapid onset of confusion and hallucinations. Nurse at the hospital said anytime an elderly person displays this, they are taught in nursing school to always check for a UTI right away. They waited days to do a urinalysis and I had to tell the person on the phone to call an ambulance and no, we weren't going to see if antibiotics would fix it. She probably would have died if I wasn't involved. This last time she went in (despite me urging her to pick a different place- wasn't my choice) she hated it. The food was horrible, they didn't really ever make her bed and just jumbled the sheets and blankets, the nurses would say they were going to do something but not come back for 2 hours or so. She also did not really receive rehab either. She was probably just as weak or weaker when she left. She had a hospital visit during her stay and her room was still dirty when she came back. Some of the staff was really friendly, others not so much... Sorry to be so long winded. I would give this place negative stars if I could.

I visited this facility

I couldn't believe how bright the facility was. The staff was very cheerful and so welcoming. Everyone had a smile on their face and greeted my husband and I while we toured the building with a smile, hello or a hi how are you. It wasn't like your normal nursing home. I didn't smell and urine and the building smelt great. I don't think I have ever seen a nursing facility so clean and odor free. If anyone in our family ever needs skilled nursing care this will definitely be the facility we take our loved one too. We have visited several facilities in the area and this is by far the best we've been too.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Father has been at Fair Oaks for over five weeks now. It is scary to put a loved one into a facility but I can say the fear went away very soon. I am so very pleased as to the excellent and very very caring care that he is getting. It seems that everyone who works there is so dedicated and works very hard to care for the patients. I am very grateful to the staff there for always communicating with me on his progress and explaining it all so well. I have no complaints but only sincere thanks and overwhelming gratitude and admiration for all the caring people that are there to help with my Father and others loved ones as well!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandma has been a resident for a little while now. She has received excellent care from the staff. They taught her how to use some of her prescribed devices, and made sure she understood what her medication was for. Also, while not a resident, my grandpa goes quite often to visit and they are more than accommodating. Finally, something that I didn't really think of until I visited, they have great security. Lots of locks and passkeys to get in and out of the facility. This helps keep the residents safe. I have been more than pleased with the care my family member has received.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was put in this facility by her primary care physician after her blood sugars spiked to 600 mg/dl, causing her to end up in the emergency room. She was kept at the facility for four weeks. During that time, the staff treated her very well. They monitored her blood sugar on a regular basis to 1. monitor the effects of her medications and 2. teach her the proper schedule for checking her blood sugar. She complained at times about missing home, but we could tell that she met a couple new people who she spent time talking with at meal times. Her home life consists of sitting around watching television since she is not very mobile. She was treated very well by the staff. On a separate occasion, my father had reason to reside for about three weeks at the same facility. He had bilateral knee rplacement surgery and since my mom was incapable of caring for him in the immediate post surgery stage, he was placed at Fair Oaks. He acted as if he felt like he was on vacation. He joked around with the staff and they gave it right back to him. His only complaints pertained to two other residents that did something he didn't like. He too was given very good care, which included physical therapy right on-site. When he left I could tell he felt that he had made a couple new friends with some of the staff. The staff at this facility seems to be top-notch from everything I could see. The only negative would be that the facility is pretty old and looks it. It is kept neat and clean but could use a make-over to give the residents a brighter, cheerier atmosphere.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I had posted a review a while back about a nursing home that I had visited as a delivery driver. This nursing home, however, is more personal to me. My Great-Grandmother, as she was living out her final years, stayed here due to complications from diabetes. I was fairly impressed with the facility. The premises seems clear and bright, and the nurses helpful. There is a glass case with live birds in the common room to give the seniors something to look at. One resident, as I was there, was unfortunately choking on his own saliva. The nurse at hand didn't criticize or make any kind of remark, but rather gently patted his back until the coughing fit was over. I am overall impressed with the level of care here. The only reason that it gets four stars out of five is that we brought fresh tomatoes to Mary one summer, and they completely disappeared without her knowledge of them being there. We are fairly sure that one of the "bad seed" nurses might have taken it while she was sleeping, but we can't prove anything. I would however recommend this facility for long-term care due to disabilities.
