I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother in law was a long term resident at The Waters until she passed away last year. During her stay the staff was caring and compassionate, even though her medical conditions could make her a challenge. I would highly recommend doing your research and touring any facility you're considering placing your loved one in but The Waters was very good to my mother in law and our family! Thank you Waters of Smyrna caregivers!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My MIL was a resident here and thecare is awful. She went from being quite mobile, jovial and talkative to completely bedbound, non-communicative and unable to use the bathroom. They almost immediately put her in diapers. There is no social aspect at all because they leave her in her room. I had never seen her more depressed. This honestly has very substandard care and has been flagged by the state for abuse. The rooms are tiny and old. The food is God awful. I have gotten to know a few residents throughout the time that she was there and I saw an overall decline of health and mobility in ALL of them. They should be shut down.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is staying in The Waters Of Smyrna. Some of the staff are very nice and helpful, while others are not helpful or just not available. They quarantined the residents because they had cases of COVID, and especially on nights and weekends, it seems like the staff member are scarce. The current administrator is very nice and very, very good. The prior investigator was not, I never even met him, but the current administrator is very good, he communicates with patients and families very well. They had a lot of staff turnover too. He doesn't get a choice of the food there. He has whatever they bring him. I guess it's OK, nothing outstanding. When we walks up and down the halls, there's often an odor. It's pretty clean, but the maintenance is not great. For instance, their electric plugs there don't work, and the ceiling above my husband's bed in his room has been patched up, but they just left it with the plaster on it.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My wife was in Christian Care Center. I would never send anybody over there. The main reason was when my wife was in bed, she'd ring the bell like she had to go to the bathroom, and one of them would come in and say, "What do you need?" and she'd tell them, "I have to go to the bathroom." They'd turn off the light over the front door so they'd know something was needed, and they'd tell her they'd be back in a few minutes. A half hour or 45 minutes later, they hadn't come back and there she'd gone in her diapers. That happened a lot of times, and I complained about it. That's bad. The rooms were clean. It's just that the care of the patients was bad. They should take care of the patients. Going to the bathroom should be made a high priority. My wife has gone in her diapers two or three times a day. That happens even when I was sitting there with her.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My fiancees maternal grandparents live in Christian Care Center. I have been there numerous times. The building itself is dated and in need of minor repairs. The decor (or lack thereof)was gloomy and unsettling. The nurses are always very kind and helpful. I have tried the food on many different occasions and it's actually very good. I wish there were more activities for the residents and their families. When my fiancees grandfather moved into the Christian Care Center, he was deemed terminally ill with prostate cancer. He was not expected to live more than a few weeks. Instead, he lived eight months! He was really happy with the care and food he received. Since his grandparents were married, the Christian Care Center made special accommodations so that they could share a room (even though they both had separate needs). My biggest concern is the lack of amenities. However, the care and kindness of the nurses and faculty is superb.
