I toured Riderwood Village. There are different apartment units. They are different sizes. You have a choice of small, medium and large or extra large if you want, one-bedroom or two-bedroom. It's just a very small one-bedroom. They do have a couple that have two units combined into one, which makes a very large apartment. So, there are options there. They have lots of activities to engage yourself in. It's large. It's on 120 acres, and it has some beautiful grounds. That's what I liked about it best. I didn't run into many different staff members, maybe two or three. They were all very understanding, kind, and glad to answer questions and serve you. They have several large dining rooms in different buildings, and you can attend any one you want. They're lovely. I have eaten there before with friends. They have good food. They have a nice variety of meals that rotate around, I'm not sure how often they rotate, but they rotate from one menu to another and then come back to another menu they've already used before. So, you have several choices and it's served to you. They had tablecloths on the tables and a nice dining room setting.

I like everything about Riderwood except the price and the fact that that if there's a couple and you're not married (which is our situation because of very big concerns about caring for my son), then both individuals have to qualify financially, and that's something we just couldn't do. Whereas if we were married, we would have qualified easily. So it was sort of unfair. Nevertheless, it was beautiful. The apartments were spacious. They have all these restaurants. The food was good. There were lots of outdoor space. There's a gorgeous indoor pool. It's a great place. And the location was good for us. We just can't afford it. The staff who toured us was very helpful and very communicative. It was a good tour. They have lots of activities. They have everything from films, to classes, to water aerobics, and yoga. They have an arrangement with a community college. They have people come from the college that give presentations. It's very comprehensive in terms of activities.

My father was a independent living resident and transitioned to assisted living at Riderwood. Riderwood customer service is great when you are considering getting a residency unit on campus but is terrible when afterwards. AL does not have enough staff to provide good care for the residents. The staff are not attentive enough, they are in such a hurry because there are not enough staff to handle all the residents so my father gets poor attention. Complaining to corporate accomplishes nothing. After my father passed, they were concerned about us clearing out his unit and then notifying us that we are responsible for 3 months of rent/services per the contract. I would not recommend anyone to Riderwood.

I toured Riderwood Senior Living. It was wonderful, excellent. The staff was excellent. I enjoyed everything. They have nice two-bedroom apartments with patios and one-bedroom apartments. They have everything you need from one extreme to the other. They have swimming, they have all kinds of clubs. They got 100 acres of walking trails. They have everything.

Riderwood is huge. It has everything. They have exercise classes for the residents, a personal trainer, a chapel, a library, and a game room. They have it all. The tour guide was very friendly. She was very knowledgeable, and I feel she covered everything. The rooms were very impressive. They had a walk-in closet and that was for independent living. It was a nice-sized apartment. They have activities every day. They provide a bus service. The residents can go to the market or go to the movies.

My aunt's a resident of Riderwood. She had put the money down so that she could go to a more intensive setting within Riderwood as she became older and wasn't able to do things. I didn't have much contact with her until her passing. I spoke to her on the phone, and she never complained about anything. I just visited there after she passed away because I had to help folks clear out her personal belongings. It was nice, there were no problems. Their outdoors was gorgeous, and the room was very nice. Her apartment was spacious. I saw the dining area, and I saw a swimming pool. They had different activities, like field trips, and things of that nature. Also, the residents were allowed to keep pets, I saw folks walking their dogs. If you have the money to afford it, it is very nice. It's expensive to live there. The deposit my aunt had to put down was more than $260,000, plus she paid her monthly rent.
