Reviews of Holy Family Residence

I am a friend or relative of a resident
I absolutely LOVE this facility. I have a friend who lives there and has enjoyed if for several years now. It is a religious-based long-term care facility that is run by the Little Sisters of the Poor nuns. The sisters are so wonderful and friendly and helpful. Let me start off by explaining the layout of the building. There are two floors of residence rooms, each room is a single with only one person per room. That allows for lots of privacy. At Holy Family Residence, each resident is given the respect and dignity they fully deserve. There are only about 60 or so residence in this facility, with 30 on each floor. The screening process for acceptance into this facility is a little hard to get through. They only accept those patience who they feel would benefit most from that atmosphere. Also in the facility is a hair-dresser, a small gift shop, as well as a a little convenience store. Everything anyone would want is available here, and if you can't find it, they will be more than willing to get it for you.The staff at Holy Family Resident is amazing. Like I said, I have a friend who is a resident there. The sisters give EACH resident the one on one care they need and deserve. If someone is having a bad day, the sisters will take the extra step to make them smile. Dancing is done there almost every day as they listen to one of the sisters play the piano on a regular basis. The residents also enjoy games of bingo for decent prizes every day, as well as prayer services and regular weekly Sunday church services. There is a chapel located on site as well. If someone is ill and isn't expected to make it, the sisters have one rule-- no one is left alone. When someone is at the final stages of their life, there is a sister or some other "staff" member there with them holding their hand at all times. Family members are welcome any time of the day or night, and are encouraged to come join the resident for meals. Meals there at holy family are home-cooked and individual based. EVERYTHING is cooked on the premises and nothing is pre-cooked. If someone wants a PBJ sandwich, they get one. If someone wants meatloaf, they can arrange for that too. It's a restaurant style setting--- no pre-prepared trays to pass around with the patient's name on it. THEY choose what they want to eat.I was very impressed with this facility. I would definitly recommend it to anyone and everyone. It's always a pleasure to go visit and see how happy the residents truly are. One thing I did notice, though, is there don't seem to be very many "special needs" residence. I have noticed that most of the residence they choose for this facility all have their facilities and are able to do most things on their own, but need that extra help with the dressing and eating and such. I am not sure if they do that in purpose or if it just happens to be that way. All in all, though, this facility is one of the best I have seen. It's very clean and happy whenever I have visited there. I hope it is still around if I need to go there myself one day.
