I am/was a resident of this facility

if I could give this this place a Zero rating i would. I was sent to Golden Hill Sub Acute to be under a Medical Providers care and to receive Physical Therapy for R side weakness. I was never allowed to meet with the doctor though he claimed to have met with me on the 23rd of Dec. 2022. NOT TRUE. Nurses claimed to have texted him multiple times. NO response to me or my family after multiple requests. I was cleared by PT and was told by the social worker that she was merely waiting for the Doctor to sign my discharge papers on the day i was supposed to be discharged. After waiting for 12 hours. late evening i was told by both the Administrator and the Kaitlyn the social worker that i would not be getting a signed letter for Dr. Birdjandi as that was Not how it worked in Skilled Nursing Facilities. I had asked two weeks prior for a Different MD and was told NO. I was stonewalled and lied to and then discharged ultimately with only PT progress notes. I was also left for extended periods of time in bed waiting for my call bell to be answered on multiple occasions. CNA patient ratio was 15-16 to one. DO NOT admit or self or loved one Here. A real horror Zone. Medicare rated this place 2 stars. DO Your Homework.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Short staffed all the time typically 15 to 1. If you try to call after 5PM you mighty get through on the 4th try. Food is usually delivered LATE and COLD with no real selection. Rooms are small relatively clean, surface cleaned once a day. hallways smelled like urine and feces.

I’ve visited this facility many many times with a friend who’s brother is in the sub acute unit. I’ve seen the renovations that have been completed and the changes in management and I’ve definitely seen a change for the better. The staff is always so kind and goes out of their way to check on us to see if we have any questions about the services being provided. I hope to never have a family member in this medical situation, but if I do I’d definitely have them cared for at Golden Hill.

What a change. I visited a friend at the facility 2 years ago and by my previous review you can see it wasn't bad and it wasn't great BUT now - WOW - what a change. They have renovated the entire inside of the building from carpeting to paint to very modern furniture and pictures. What fun to see scenes around San Diego and bright flowers and zoo animals. The patients love them. My friend says the food is really well seasoned and he has experienced foods not usually found in nursing homes like tonight was Linguini Pesto Pasta with smoked chicken. The fruits and vegetables are fresh and not canned. The best part is the caring staff. No one can expect everything to be perfect but you gotta give them an A for effort. It must be hard caring for all these people, but they do it with a smile. Always welcoming me when I come to visit. I just wanted to let you know there are good nursing homes out there too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms were minimal, and the staff was OK, although, the night shift was unaware of what the day shift provided--a MAJOR disconnect! I HAD to deposit $ before my husband was admitted (to ensure a bed). He was at the facility 6 days--respite paying for two days and Hospice paying for 5 days. I was assured that my full deposit would be refunded. It has now been TWO long months, and the facility is still dragging their feet. Finally, I notified my credit card company of this, and they are aware of the problem. If you need to secure a bed for a loved one before that loved one can be admitted, be AWARE that this facility does NOT care about your loss and only complicates matters. I would have NEVER utilized this facility if I had had more options. BEWARE, Windsor Gardens does NOT care about the family and will do all they can to make your grieving worst. If I could rate them a minus 1 or 2, I would have choosen that rating; a 1 star is far too generous for this facility. If you have a choice, do NOT choose Windsor Gardens!

I am/was a resident of this facility

We will be living in Golden Hill for a year. I’m not happy with the care. It’s kind of hit and miss. I have therapy every day, and it helps quite a bit. They have transportation available.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My sister was here after she suffered a mild brain injury. She came to this facility on a ventilator and with several other issues. Within a month of her stay the team was able to remove the ventilator and get her back on her feet. I attribute her success to the long term caring staff that looked after her and helped her reach her maximum potential.

I visited this facility

The staff of this facility was very good. The facility was kept clean and well maintained. The problem was with the Manager of the facility. If a patient had any kind of acting out behavior they were put in the lock down dementia unit. At one time my Grandmother fell in her room and hit her head which caused a hematoma on her forehead. Because it was nasty looking the Manager did not want the other residents to see it so she was placed in the dementia unit. If a resident had to be in the hospital it was up to the Manager's if the resident should be allowed back to the facility. I feel that this Manager put a lot of unnecessary stress to the resident as well as the family during this time.
