I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Over the course of the past two months, my husband has been a patient at Westminster Suncoast Rapid Recovery Unit. The care and attention he received was excellent. The Assistant Director of Nursing for my husband's Unit made the entire process seamless. She was able to effectively communicate and correct issues between the nursing staff and my husband/the patient in a timely manner, and proficiently evaluated, solved and implemented these methods where needed. She maintained a professional but caring demeanor toward my husband/the patient and his family. Westminster Suncoast is fortunate to have this Director of Nursing as part of its staff.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I went to Westminster Suncoast for physical therapy. It was a terrible experience. I was there for 35 days. They did not help me reach my goals. My goal was to walk again. They did not even try to help or encourage me to reach my goals. Still can't walk. Now I need another surgery so I can walk again. My stay at Westminster Suncoast was a nightmare. I will not recommend any one to go there for rehab. And the food was awful as well. Most my stay I would eat sandwiches. There was one CNA that really care her name Amber. She was caring, very professional, and work hard to make sure that the residents stay was comfortable. They should not try to loose Amber. Very sweet CNA. And did her work. I am very disappointed with the care I went to receive from Westminster Suncoast.

I visited this facility

We had a stay-over tour at Westminster Suncoast was very good. The staff we had interactions with were excellent. We stayed in a very lovely room and it was comfortable. We had a little area where we could do some cooking if you wanted to, but they also serve two meals a day. The facility was comfortable and well laid out. The only problem with them is when you have to leave your room to go elsewhere you might get wet from the rain. They have concerts, exercise classes, and they have other activities where they go to places.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was in the Rapid Recovery Center. As far as I know, all patients have a private room. Cleaning of the room and bathroom can use a little more detail. About 90% of the staff, nurses, aids, cleaning crew are professional and caring, the other 10% need to be fired. The only issue we had was getting my mother’s pain meds on a schedule. It took them 6 days before she started receiving them without me requesting them. I understand they are a facility that provides meds as requested by the patients but my mother’s case was different, she wasn’t able to communicate to the nurse that she was in pain. Once we got that under control, everything went smooth. I can’t say enough good things about her two therapist, they were professional and caring. I had to transfer my mother to another facility, I hope she gets treated as good as she did at Westminster.

Westminster Suncoast is one of the places I'm considering moving Mom to. I've been there multiple times. I checked the nursing home. I really discussed it with the rep, and we decided Mom probably really needs the nursing facility because she's up to 24/7 care now. She can feed herself, but she needs someone to bring her food. She's not able to prepare it. She needs help getting on and off the toilet; she can't do that herself. She can't walk, so she's limited to a walker; that's even degrading to a point, where you just have to wheel her around now from place to place. She's very fragile and became very dependent on people for almost everything. She can get up and get into a bed. She can get up to the toilet. She can get up and do a few other really minor things, but they're extremely limited. I like everything about Westminster Suncoast. It's close to home. It's here, and it's not Mobile, so that's like the number one advantage that it has. Regardless of what it looks like, it is not in Mobile. I wouldn't have to travel 700 miles back and forth one way because it's just getting to be really hard. Besides it being here, it's a beautiful facility. It's nestled along Tampa Bay, right down on the water. The grounds are lovely. It's oak-shaded, and there is a nice oak grove there. The buildings are beautiful. The independent living part is really sweet. The apartments are gorgeous too, but my mom can't live in those. They all have views of the water. It's just beautiful. The nursing part is really nice, new, modern, and very clean. I was impressed with it. The staff seem to be excellent. I know of the Westminster Suncoast because I've had multiple friends there (not personally my friends, but parents of my friends). I've eaten there, and it was delicious. I've eaten there not necessarily on my mom's visit, but on other visits when I've been there to visit my friend's parents. Their parents were really good friends of mine, and we did visit it often. I'm really, really, really familiar with Westminster Suncoast. Over the course of years, I've been there many times. I have lots of friends who are my age, and they have parents who've all aged out; many of them have come to Westminster Suncoast. Food was great. It's not what you might call fine dining. It's not a five-star Michelin dining, but it's really decent, good food. It's really, really good food, but it's not gourmet. They have lots of stuff to do. They could do the pool. They could do golfing. They had tennis even. They also had parlor games. They were active people. Another parent of a friend of mine that I visited was in the nursing facility where my mom would be. He was very, very well taken care of. He eventually went home and died with hospice, but his stay there was exceptional. He was there for months to treat his heart failure. It was really an excellent stay. It got to a point with heart failure, there just wasn't much more they could do with him. They sent him home, and he peacefully died at home. I stayed with them at home as a caregiver. His whole stay from Westminster to home was just very nice and very calming. It was just the most beautiful thing. It went very well. I was so pleased and taken back by how nice everything went, right up until his death and the funeral.

I broke my leg, and I'm in rehab now at Westminster Suncoast. They do short-term and long-term stays here. The food is not great, but it is good. They have activities occasionally. They have a big room with exercise equipment, but there is no pool or anything like that. I have no idea what it costs; either Medicaid or my insurance company pays for it -- it's one of the two.

A very open and caring campus. No halls or stairs - I step out of my villa on the ground. My villa was completely rebuilt before I moved in. Staff and food are very good and they are keeping us safe. Just one resident who spent time off campus developed the Covid-19 virus. He has now recovered. They are trying to offer us a variety of on campus activities since we do not have off campus activities to attend. Residents are very enjoyable and provide a friendly environment. I am very happy here as I enter my seventh year.

There were a lot of patients at Westminster Suncoast and they didn't answer the bells very fast, but the staff was friendly. My mother was there for a little while and she fell twice. She didn't like the food too much in the long-term care, but she liked it better when she was in rapid recovery. Her room was comfortable, but the bathroom was tight, and you couldn't get a wheelchair in with the way the door opened. You have to get her off the wheelchair to use the toilet and then close the door. They have bingo, painting, music, and church services.

Westminster Suncoast was very nice with lovely villas that you can park your car in front of, big spacious rooms, but quite expensive. They have good amenities and activities.

Westminster (Westminster Suncoast) was really neat and interesting with really good food. They have a villa, which is what we would love to have. It was absolutely gorgeous, a nice size, and very clean. The staff and residents that we met were very nice. They have everything that anyone could possibly want.

I requested a tour for my girlfriend Nancy to e placed there after she fell down her apartment steps and needed LTC. Nancy now deceased, lived there and thrived under the care & supervision of staff. The meals were nutricious, she gained weight was allowed to come to our home later for Easter but died of AIDS and was cred for expertly until the day she died in my opinion.

Westminster is not far from where I live. The staff was pretty nice, caring, and attentive to the residents. The apartments are very nice. They have a very spacious memory care unit. They have a one bedroom apartment as well as a studio apartment. They have a buy-in situation. They have Bingo, they send the residents shopping, and they have socials and some movie nights.

The one that we were most interested in was Westminster Suncoast. It seemed to be a very welcoming and active community. The people seemed to be well cared for, and the facility seemed to be very nice. The location seemed to be very good. We were looking at a one-bedroom/ two-bath independent unit. Though they had them, they were not available. So, we're on their waiting list. The staff was very nice, very helpful, competent, warm, and friendly. We ate in their dining room with the assigned people to eat with us, and they were very nice. The food was quite good, and the dining facility was very nice, comfortable, and clean. We were very impressed with it.

My grandmother is at Westminster Suncoast for two days. Her room is spacious, clean, and well kept. The staff seemed okay. She says she has no problem with the food. They have a couple of choices to choose from, not a wide variety, but it was fine. She's not really an active person, but she does like to walk around.

Westminster Suncoast was sort of an older facility. The surrounding area was not that great especially at night. You wouldn't want to be walking around there. They also didn't have that much activities for their residents. However, the people there were very nice.

This is mainly a retirement community with individual living spaces for seniors. I am familiar with this facility because my grandmother stayed there during the last months of her life. There is a guard at the gate who only allows persons that have a reason to be there inside. I am familiar with the assisted living facility that is onsite, I am not familiar with the retirement community. The assisted living facility offers round the clock nursing care and offers a gentle exercise class for people who are mostly bed-ridden. The nurses there tried to keep my grandmother from getting a bed sore and choking on her food, they did accomplish this. They occasionally would take her out of bed to sit upright to prevent a bed sore. She shared a small room with another lady. When it was clear she was dying they let us know what was going on. There were volunteers who came by to comfort the patients.
