My mother has moved into Aventura at the Bay. They have memory care and there's a skilled nursing facility, so they can handle her diabetic needs. Right now, she's in just skilled nursing because they want to assess her before they decide whether or not she's doing OK where she is or if they need to move her to memory care, but they have that unit available if they need to. It's a very nice facility. It's very clean. The staff is very friendly. The biggest drawback for me is the distance from me. Everybody's been wonderful with her. I don't have anything negative to say. I haven't run into any issues with anybody or anything. She's only been there two weeks, so we're still in the early stages. We just had a care plan meeting today. Everything's going good so far. I haven't eaten there. I've seen only two meals the day she got in and then today's meal, but it's much better than where she was. They have a fairly busy social calendar. It's not quite as busy because of COVID. They had some COVID issues, but when that's not an issue, they have exercise, bible study, worship services, music, bingo, and arts and crafts, plenty to keep her occupied. They've got several visiting areas. They've got a private dining room you can reserve if you want to have a family get-together, like a baby shower, birthday party, or Thanksgiving dinner. They've got physical therapy and occupational therapy. They've got a gym that the patients can use to keep fit. Facility-wise, staff-wise, care-wise, it's worth it.

This is the place to put people to die. They do not do the bare minimun to help your loved one stay active- they want the all residents either wheel chair bound or bed bound. IF they orders from a DR they will PT but that to /say that they have done all they can and your loved one will not get any further PT. I visited multiple times to find my loved one had not been showered or had their teeth brushed for extended days. You know its bad when the water date on their cup is dated 2 or 3 days ago. We asked them why they weren't encouge water, while knowing being dehydrated at those ages is a death sentence. Response was we can't "force" them to. What??? Worst place ever. Please do not place your loved one here.

While the care given my mother while at Bon Secours Maria Manor was good, the care given to her personal items was poor. Be warned, do not take anything for a loved one that you don't want thrown away. They showed wanton disregard for my mother's personal effects. She passed on Christmas Eve and before I could get there to retrieve her one-of-a-kind photos and very personal items, they had been thrown away by the staff. Heartbreaking to lose the last items we had of hers.

Facility is beautiful, grounds are well manicured but the nursing staff could be a bit more friendly. My first experience with visiting my mother In law was terrible.. I couldn't take her outside, couldn't help feed her, couldn't paint or file her nails, everything question was a hard "no"! Told me to go to administration for protocol!

Bon Secours Maria Manor Nursing Care Center has a very good physical therapy department. I also was a patient there, and I did so well in physical therapy. My wife is doing real well, and she's up and walking every day now. The place is in very good shape. The director of the facility has a good maintenance crew, and they keep the building upgraded every day. They have Bingo, people come in and play music, they do group exercises down in the activity room, and they have a priest who comes in every day and does mass.

My mother n law lived at Maria Manor for the past two years until her passing. She always said that if the time came, Maria Manor was the place she wanted to spend her final days. From the moment she arrived she was felt at peace. She voiced being in awe of all the caregivers. She'd say they were angels walking among us. Mary has 9 children and 20 plus grandchildren who visited frequently. They were surprised that staff remembered their names in between visits and often commented on how amazing the staff and food was as they often dined here when visiting. Mary loved being able to attend mass daily and particularly enjoyed the visits from the children at St. Paul's Catholic School, Holy Family and St. Petersburg High School. The pastoral care department was also a blessing to her, particularly Sister Flo. When we received the call and hurriedly picked the children up from school to be by her side, Sister Flo was there saying the rosary with her. One by one her beloved care givers came in with tears in their eyes to say their final goodbye's. We will forever be grateful to Maria Manor for the love shown to her and all her family.
