    I am/was a resident of this facility

Run!! This place is filthy even when my room was "cleaned"!! Poop on the floor covered up by staff with towels. Thank goodness I know my meds as their untrained staff (not nurses) would have overdosed me .. but I caught it before taking them. No one washing hands. Again, filthy.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was sent here directly from a hospital when it was determined it was not safe to let her go back home to live independently. The first reaction my sister and I had when we walked into the room ahead of her arrival was to look at each other and simultaneously burst into tears at our disappointment and disgust at where she would be living. Everything seemed old and dingy, and the small nightstand was chipped and the mattress cheap and thin. We insisted the attending nurse change the stained curtain that separated the small room in two before our mother arrived. This was the secure floor for dementia patients, so as uncomfortable as the surroundings were, it was a small mercy that she was separated from the other floors, where residents of all ages and stages seemed to roam aimlessly. Every resident I encountered in the hallways or elevator appeared unkempt, dirty, and slightly out of it. Staff turnover was very high in the 5 months my mother was a resident. I would never recommend this place to anyone, even as a last alternative. My best advice is to plan as far ahead as possible to avoid a situation like ours.

I would not even give this place a 1 rating. It is horrible. They are unattentive, the place is dirty, and I believe they 'care' for the residents with the sole intention of waiting for their death. A relative of mine was brought here and the family was told that he was basically on his death bed by the staff here and urged them to place him under Do Not Resuscitate. He went from walking, speaking and eating solid foods to not doing any of these things. The family requested that some labwork and another MRI be done prior to them changing status. Turns out his sodium level was at the lethal level. This is typically caused by dehydration! The day following the family meeting, the relative was brought into the ER as the staff at this nursing home said he was unresponsive when they tried to wake him. Needless to say, after 72 hours in the ICU at a great hospital, he was moved out of ICU and is in rehabilitation. He is talking, cognitive, sitting up and able to stand with assistance! After 72 hours! Please, please, please do NOT send your loved ones to this facility. It should be shut down!

The first thing that this facility did when my mom enterted the facility was to put her in a wheel chair. She has been in it for over 7 months now. The food is disgusting and cold. The facility always smells like pee. There is no consistency with the staff. Please don't take your loved one here.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I 'm at a loss as to what constitutes humane care in this facility. The staff forgets that this is where people live. This is their home! Everything they own is here. These residents are not items on a shelf, that are an inconvenience to the staff. Rooms are too small for double occupancy. If one of the occupants has extra equipment like a wheelchair, there is no room for it, much less room to open dresser drawers independently. My relative has had personal items gone missing from her room and no one seems to care. She has very little financial resources to replace stolen items. These items were furnished by family members on her behalf. The place is so unclean visitors are afraid to sit down in the common areas on the second floor. Who regulates nursing homes? Why aren't the care givers caring?

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father has been at Golden Living Center since August of this year. He was placed here just kind of out of urgency. He was hospitalized and needed a place to go, and we found this facility. I haven't been impressed with it. The staff ratio is too low, and they are not very attentive. They're short staffed, and they're just constantly putting out fires rather than being proactive in the assistance that they provide each resident. I don't think that the care plans are individualized based on my experience. It is not clean, and it smelled like urine. They don't clean up their eating area even two or three hours after dinner service. My father's roommate is not capable of walking around or even go to the bathroom by himself, and it had been hours before he had been changed after soiling himself. The room sizes are small, dirty, old, looked worn down, and the paint is chipping off the walls. They don't follow up with his personal hygiene needs. I suggest that they implement a consistent plan for updating and informing family members on the progress of the residents. Progress reports would be great. They should improve on the cleanliness of the facility and upgrading the rooms.
