I visited this facility
The facility is very large with many floors and halls. The building was 3 stories with a basement in which residents were also housed. The staff at this facility was very friendly from what I observed. I talked with a few of the residents and they seemed happy with the staff. There was an overtly religious tone to the facility because it was a catholic facility. There were quite a few elderly priests and nuns in the community. Each room you went into was quite spacious, and the tenant had room to store things while still being quite comfortable. On many of the floors there were huge bird cages in the common rooms that held multiple birds for the residents to watch and listen to while they sat. It also seemed that you could not go into a room that did not have a large high definition televisions for the residents to watch. These televisions were well used it seems because there was always a crowd of people around them. I am describing these features for the residents because I have been to facilities that do not have these features for the residents, and they seemed bored without anything to entertain them.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My grandmother stayed at this facility for approximately two months during the winter of 2011-2012. She was assigned there as she suffered a stroke and had to go through some physical therapy. I was generally impressed by the facility. First of all, the physical therapist did an excellent job in working with her to gain her strength so she could stand up, walk as best as possible and even grasp objects. She would use a hand bike as well as some pressure balls to help her build strength. Additionally, the nursing staff was very good. They took all her vitals and made sure she ate her meals at the appropriate times. One serious issue though came about midway through her stay. She was administered the wrong dose of her medication and became very lethargic and sleepy. We though we had lost her!!! Later we found out what had happened and needless to say we were not happy. In the end, she did not stay there and is back home. Regarding the facility - it was great. It had a gift shop, enough walking space, cafeteria, separate dining, TVs in rooms (with cable), and most importantly a chapel where she could attend mass every weekend. I would have given it a 4 save for the medicine issue.

I visited this facility
My grandfather is getting older and he and my grandmother are looking for a retirement community. I visited with them and the staff was very kind, their menus looked delicious, and the living quarters were quite spacious. I really don't have anything to complain about in that regard. Bathrooms were semi-private. There looked to be an adequent amount of nursing staff so if anything did happen there would be a fairly quick response. The placing is extremely convenient as the community is only a half an hour long from my family's lake and there are a bunch of relatives living with a fifteen minute commute. There appeared to be quite a bit of leeway allowed and the amount of activities was astounding. Bingo for my grandmother, shuffleboard, classes about knitting and clubs up the wazoo involving members of the community. Plenty of electronic devices for my grandfather to fiddle with and as he starts to lose faculties (as has slowly begun happening), there are plenty of on-staff aides to help as needed. Transportation is provided for groceries, doctor visits, etc. which is extremely great because my grandfather really can no longer drive.
