I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister was in Andrus on Hudson for rehab. The grounds were beautiful. Her room was spacious. It was an individual room, and it had a nice view and it was kept tidy. The staff was very nice and very cordial, and they always extended a hand to help my sister. The only thing is sometimes they're a little slow to respond if you need something, but that's with all nursing homes. They offer post-hospital stays, they offer permanent residence, and they offer rehab for surgeries. If you had a knee operation, a shoulder operation, or an ankle operation, they order orthopedic rehab. They offer a lot of activities. There's music and games. There is a social center on each floor. Some of these patients also have dementia, so they take care of them, too. When I left the building, every time, I always passed the center hallway, which was a big circle, and they had 10 to 20 people out there listening to music and playing games. The staff was very in tune with that. My sister hated everything she got, but the meals that I've observed were very, very nutritious and there's quite a bit of it. I was pretty satisfied with everything.

Very pleased !

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I had to take my mother there in 2021 for broken hip and wrist then in 2022 for broken tibia and then my dad in 2023 for rehab. They received exceptional care from all the workers, nurses, aids, physicians. Yes sometimes there was a shortage of an aid but not enough that anyone should complain. Needless to say they are both living on their own at home thanks to Andrus ‘ rehabilitation program. Thank you for taking care of my parents..

Please check the credentials that Andrus tells you that are treating your loved one. After I reviewed the credentials of one of the attending doctors treating my mother, I was surprised to find he had multiple disciplinary actions in multiple states. Also, please check the medications and diagnoses in your loved one's medical records at Andrus. Visit as often as you can, ask frequent questions and ask for support for any decisions made by AOH. I saw no activities on the floor. The residents sit in the middle of the floor watching tv near the elevator bank.

My mother is there now. They just recently opened the doors to let family in. My wife and I went the room was filthy my mother smelled like she hadn't had a shower in a week. As soon as we arrived and staff saw us there they put my mother in the shower. They put clean sheets on the bed. They sent someone to clean the room. And they even had a barber come up to cut her hair. I felt like they haven't been taking care of my mother. If you have family there you have to stay on top of things because I feel that if a resident don't have family to visit them, they will be poorly taken care of there. It's a very depressing place I saw no activities. All the staff does is put them in a wheelchair in front of the TV or put some music on.

My aunt was here for rehab for 2 weeks. she should have stayed longer but the place was so bad we got her out and got her care at home. Dirty, dilapidated and gloomy. therapists were nice but nursing and aides indifferent...and hard to find when needed, they seem to be renovating the lobby but the whole place needs a major overhaul. The residents there look sad.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a resident for about a year. If I ever need a nursing home again Andrus would be my first choice. No one really wants to be in one! The care was good, most of the aides were great, pt/ot was excellent. Food was pretty good, but lacking in fresh salads and fresh fruit. I loved having a private room and bath. I would recommend it.

We visited my Mom today and I was appalled by the dirty carpet in her room and overall lack of cleanliness. I can't believe that you are even allowed to have such dirty carpeting. The floor in the bathroom was not clean at all. Having been a patient in a CT facility, I do have something to compare it to. I intend to look into when this facility was last inspected by the state.

My mother is in Andrus. Everyone is very nice there and very helpful. They seem to go out of their way to answer questions and be helpful. Its dated to me, but to my mother its great. Since she's pretty dated herself. I know a lot of people get depressed going there, but t hat would be at any facility. Seeing people who are ill and unable to take care of themselves is depressing. But that has nothing to do with the facility. I like that my mother has her own room, which wasn't available in other facilities we looked at. All and all I think my mother is in a good safe place.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I went on Andrus on Hudson for a rehab. It turned out to be a nice place, and I'm very glad I chose it. Being sick and all, it was hard to appreciate being there, but it was a nice experience. The PT and OT people were very nice. The aides were extremely nice too. I had no problems there whatsoever. I was there for two weeks, and they helped me a lot, so I'm able to walk and be not in a wheelchair. My room had a beautiful view of the Hudson River. It was a single room. It was a nice size with a nice regular bed and closet space. I could bring in my cookies and candies. The meals were pretty good. I was able to have three square meals a day, which, when I'm home, I wouldn't have. I enjoyed their meals. Overall, I think it was a very nice place. It is very nice when you first go in. They have a big lobby there. The staff was very good with people in wheelchairs. They took me to wherever I chose to go. They played stuff like Hangman, they went over all the news, and they even had a Mass there. On each floor, they had a pet dog, "Bailey," that came by a couple of times.

The staff seemed relatively nice. I would say that the outside of the facility looked pretty. Inside seemed relatively clean, with soft lighting, nice carpeting, etc. I couldn't get a feel for what kind of food residents were offered, as we only stayed for about an hour. The other guests at this facility seemed, to be honest, sullen, melancholy, and depressed. However, this may have been due to their health ailments, rather than the actual nursing home. There could have been more light, perhaps wooden floors. The lobby - which facilitated socializing for patients and guests - was quite pretty, and sort of reminded me of a posh, spacious living room. I don't recall smelling urine or anything offensive. When I was in my aunt's room, I felt claustrophobic. The individual rooms, while a good option for someone who wants privacy, seems bleak, vanilla, and small. I couldn't wait to get out. I wasn't made aware of any activities for the seniors staying there, either. The atmosphere was rather sad.

Overall this facility is clean but very dated on the inside and in the rooms. There are two elevators and one has been broken for at least three years now and makes it hard at meal times for the people who live on the upper floors.. My Great Aunt loves the people who work here so much and she thinks the staff is so friendly and upbeat. She has been there 25 years and they have always made her happy. I would say this place is a fair place but it will soon be completely too dated for people to feel happy about leaving their family here. This although it's a problem has more to do with budget and not a bad attitude and the people working and running the facility is the most important in my mind. In conclusion I feel that I would recommend this place to people who don't have a huge budget but still want a nice caring staff.
