Wesley Willows was an older facility but kept up very nicely. The people we talked to were friendly. The facility itself is spread out very large, like 2 or 3 different buildings. We toured one of the rooms. It was a studio and it was very small but when we got down to talking about the price it was so much higher. The staff was well informed but seemed to hold back when we asked about the price. We did not see a common area. They didn't offer to show us anything.

My mom stayed at Wesley Willows. They just didn't treat her very well there. They made her sit in a chair all day. I just feel like if we had kept her there, she would have declined. They did get her on medications and helped her out and stuff. There were a couple of people there who treated her kindly, but some of the staff there were not very kind. My mom's room was okay. The bathroom was very old-fashioned. It was dark. They didn't have lights on the ceiling. We still had to come in and wear masks. They weren't accommodating. They let family come in, but we were only allowed a couple of people in our room, so the family had to sit outside the room. My mom liked their food. I never really saw my mom do any activities.

My dad is in Wesley Willows. They are very supportive of people moving in and helping the family get everything all lined up and settled on a very timely basis. The problem we're having is, that once there becomes a medical issue, the family loses a little bit too much control over where they place your parent. The cost is exceptionally high, and the family loses a little bit of the decision-making process at a certain point. It's a fantastic facility, he eats things that he's never eaten in his life before. My dad never eats fish and he eats fish there. They have a very busy social schedule. They have a physical fitness schedule, they have a social club, and they do cards and games, and movies. It was just very expensive. They have excellent groundskeepers, it's landscaped immaculately. Inside, you can see the housekeeping staff, and the upkeep is evident everywhere.

Wesley Willows had arrangements as far as the meals, etc., that I thought would work out best for us. We're going because it's independent, and we'll probably be independent for a couple more years. They have very good assisted living and independent living arrangements, and they go from one to the other seamlessly. The food looked pretty good. We got the biggest room they had. The person during the tour was very articulate, had all the answers, and some cases, she even helped us with the questions, and she did a very good job. She's been with the company for a few years, and it seems to work out for her and the company. Of all the ones we looked at, they're probably the top of the line. They've got very structured activities. I looked at their schedule, and they have more activities than we'll ever use. There are some areas that they can work on, and we talked about it. The staff that we met was somewhat limited. I was amazed at a facility that large, that we didn't see more people. They've got a vacant place that we want to keep, but we can't move until after the 1st of the year.

I can't think of any. The staff I spoke with when I was exploring the option of moving here provided all the information I needed to make my decision. They were very supportive as my husband was very ill and eventually passed away before I could make the decision for both of us to move. As soon as I was able to continue the process they were most helpful. I couldn't move til summer when my kids could come and help and they accommodated that. Everyone was so helpful with the redecorating and purchasing appliances.

Wesley Willows is a beautiful place. It's a large, self-contained community, and there are a lot of amenities. It's a little pricey, but not that expensive. They have quite a few amenities, a computer center, a couple of places to eat, an underground garage, and the phone and electricity are included. The rooms were nice. They have apartments and individual condos. The person who gave the tour was also good. They had a woodworking shop, transportation anywhere in Rockford, and they are providing services within the community.
