I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was placed here for rehabilitation - the staff was so very sweet to my mom. Kind, caring and gentle. I can not say enough how wonderful they were for the short time my mom was there. Thank you.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Very understaffed. Many agency nurses etc. Some great nurses; some nasty and uncaring. Inedible food; cold, bland, tasteless. Often ate at 430 with nothing later which caused a seizure in a diabetic. Very poor employee retention. Often ran out of prescribed meds! Bottom line, keep your loved one at home if at all possible. It was impossible to tell this place was Catholic.

My mother is in Marian Manor Corporation for rehab, I've been really happy with it. They're a little short-staffed with the way the world is today. Other than that, it's been OK. The facility is very clean, and they provide things like bingo and reading stories. People come in and talk to them. They also do arts and crafts. They always ask my mother, but she always says no. Everything else is fine. They're short-staffed, but all the other places I've talked to are short-staffed. There are times when you push the call light and wait for a long time, but there are other times when they come right away. They do what they can. The food's not too hot. It's not good, and it's hit or miss.

My mother was a patient of the nursing home for 4yrs. I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly of this establishment. First the good, the receptionist (Joan) was wonderful! Always had a smile and kind words to say to me and my family. That's it for the good. The administration and drs. cares nothing about their patients, nor knows their needs. Prime example, I questioned the dr on my mothers medications and why she was on certain ones. Mind you, I called left a message so he would have had ample time to review her chart and answer my questions. When he called back I asked why she was on particular medications, to which he answered "I don't know," the previous dr put her on them. Hmmm yet you are suppose to be caring for her. She went through a 2 month spell where she was having severe memory loss and hallucinations, when I questioned it I was told maybe the cancer was going to her brain...mind you she just had a PET scan that was clear a week prior. Then the dr proceeded to tell me if the cancer doesnt get her the COPD will. Nice. After arguing demanded a full work up...turns out she had a UTI! After medicine she was back to herself. Let's talk nursing staff. Most of the aids are useless..although she did a have few that really cared about her, and for that I am grateful. The nurses are short staffed and overworked. Once when I was there we rang her buzzer and it took 25 minutes for anybody to come. While attending my fathers funeral, someone came in her room and stole money, and jewelry. Susan the administrator was useless. The social worker is a gossip and a kiss butt to the administration. They changed the cable and it took a PHd to figure out how to use it. Yes, I called the corporate office in North Hills and complained. That was a waste of a call. They were getting my mothers entire social security so they could care less. Finally, when my mother got sick and couldnt breath it took 20min for a nurse to come to her room and call an ambulance. She couldn't breath! Unfortunately my mother passed away 3 days later. She hated this place...I'm glad she didn't have to die there. One more note...i called the home on a Friday (the afternoon that she passed), explained I would be there Sunday to clean her room and get her belongings. Susan had the nerve to have a nurse call me that Sunday morning and ask when I was coming..didn't i call and say I would be there Sunday after I made all arrangements??? She is arrogant, rude and has no place in that position. My mother was a paycheck to them not a person. I called the social worker to ask if she knew any available options to help me pay for the funeral since my mom had nothing, her suggestion was i could donate her body to the state and they would return her ashes to me. IS THIS WHERE YOU WANT TO PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE???? All I say is beware of this place...they act like all patients are family but they are not.

After my 90 yr old mother fell and broke her hip, I chose Marion Manor based on an experience of a very close family friend. How miss guided was I. The comment of Greg is correct - not very fast on service; only seems to want to be on the computer versus patient care or interaction. I also agree that Meghan is a very rude and ignorant individual and if she had told me to shut up and let her finish they probably would have had to call the police on me. All the nurses aids were great - except the red-headed Brittany. For someone so uneducated she thought she could take it upon herself to change the tx plans of the Dr. and RN only to make the job easier on herself obviously and completely contradictory to the patients needs. I thought the goal of a short term facility - which the ignorant Meghan kept reminding us of - was to rehab a senior back to independent living. The worst part was when I brought the problem of the red headed Brittany to the attention of the three Nurse Directors. The next day the red headed Brittany ran around the dinning room bragging about how all three suprvs. thought the situation was laughable. Several members of other patients families heard all this and actually approached me about the red headed Brittany as they were able to identify the party (me) as the one who complained. Unbelievably bad behavior and even worse patient care. After my mother was in the facility two weeks she contracted Cdiff. I had actually noticed a problem and brought this to Greg's attn three days in a row before someone finally decided to do a test but by this time the explosive diarrhea was a nightmare. So Greg as well as the entire staff are not very attentive to patient needs or family concerns. To my dismay I found out my mother was actually one of several patients there that had Cdiff at that time. After this they tried to place my mother in a closet of a room that is actually used for TB patients i.e. no air circulation and windows bolted shut. A nun thought she was being Christian by offering a fan - to blow the hot stale air around the disgusting room. Again at 8:30pm on a Saturday night I had to become upset and a little loud before anyone would call the now off duty maintenance worker back in to put in a room AC unit because this closet/room was shut off to all facility ventilation. Another night my 90 yr old mother post op less than a mth from hip replacement surgery was allowed to sleep all night in a reclining chair. The LPN and the nurses aid claimed SHE would not get up. I later learned that when they came to check on her well after midnight she was already asleep in the chair and they did not wake her to move her. The LPN and aid went to great lengths to put blame on this 90 yr old patient. This episode with the chair actually caused my mother to have a set back in her rehab of about a week due to increased leg/hip pain from being left in the chair overnight which again brought the always ignorant Meghan to remind us that they are a short term facility and did not have a place for our mothers long term needs. Our mother never needed long term care. She needed good rehab to help her back to performing her independent ADL. When she was discharged to home it was with OT and PT. Because we liked the work the therapist did at Marian Manor my sister chose to have those therapist visit our mother at home. When they came to my sisters both the OT and PT admitted to us that our mother should of had another 10 days or at least one week of inpatient therapy at Marian Manor and Marian Manor could have certainly recommended this to my mothers personal health insurer and medicare for approval. I guess my bottom line is if you have a loved one in this or any other facility someone has to be on hand at all times or they will just stick the patient in a wheelchair or a closet and forget about them. Marian Manor is a dated facility but clean and well kept. there staff including the nuns and caregivers leave much to be desired. It is not just patient care that is important. These situations are very upsetting for family members. We don't need or appreciate attitude from those that should be providing care. I seriously question how Marian manor obtained a 5 star rating. In the future if anyone asks me about the facility I can promise my response will be very negative.

i had been in Marion Manor for a knee replacement... the staff there were not very attentive to my needs..had to wait way too long for the nurse Greg to give me a pain pill when it was way over do..the evening staff were not sufficient at all..my daughter came in 1 evening and all staff sitting on couches watching tv and on there phones..

I visited this facility

Marian Manor Corporation was very clean and very nice. There weren't any odd smells or anything. It was very active, and the residents all seemed very happy. Most of the rooms were private. It was a little too big and on several different floors. I wasn’t sure that my mother would get around too well there because she is a little vision impaired, so that is why we opted out. It was a little pricier than some of them.

I visited this facility

My mom stayed at Marion Manor for rehab the staff seem to be nice except for the social worker Megan Zofchhak she was rude every time she spoke with me. While talking to her, she would stop me and ask for her to finish first and then not giving me a chance to speak . Other then Megan the facility was nice and clean. I think that she should be reprimanded and learn how to speak properly to family members .

I visited this facility

The rooms at Marian Manor Corporation are a little small. My patients both had private rooms that were a nice size for one person. There is room for the bed and any personal furnishings; my patient had a chair of his own there. The community is very clean and older but very well kept. There are senior staff members walking around, talking to the nurses, and offering to help. I think it’s a very well-run facility. There’s a day care in the building and kids visiting the residents.

My Mom was in Marian Manor for three weeks and I have to say that after a rocky start (didn't have a room, broken bed..) it turned out to be a great place. The nurses (especially Barb) and aides (Savannah) were just great with my Mom. They always checked on her and were so helpful and nice to her. While there, there was a death in the family and the Sisters, nurses and aides went above and beyond to help my Mom get through that difficult time. They made sure to help her get ready for the funeral. PT and OT were great and made her more confident with her walking.

My father, age 90, went to Marian Manor for short-term rehab after a 5-day hospital stay for pacemaker placement. Prior to the hospital stay he had been living at home with his wife. We chose this place due to proximity to his home, to make it easy for his wife to visit. My dad is hard of hearing, intelligent but has vascular dementia, and at the time had no mobility on his own. He was at this facility for a little less than 3 weeks. We were very disappointed with the experience and asked for him to be discharged earlier than recommended to finish his rehab at home, which turned out to be a good decision. At Marian Manor my father was basically ignored except for the times when he had a scheduled appointment for rehab. He sat for hours in his room with no social interaction. Although he was at the facility for rehab, and the specific therapists were competent, rehab was limited to only an hour or two per day and the rest of the regular staff had no time or inclination to help with the rehab process. The nursing staff did nothing to help him get back to "living at home status", that is no help going to the bathroom (just left him alone to go in his diaper), no bringing him to social activities, no turning on the TV or music for him, etc. All of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating, but if the patient is not a complainer they will be ignored!

The Rehab Staff was outstanding! RN's not so good but the Nursing Assistants/Aids were much better. Food was typical institutional type but there was always plenty of it. The facility was clean but the furniture was old. Beds, lamps and TVs didn't always work. Staffing seem adequate while I was there.

It's the second time that my mom is staying at the Marian Manor. I like it because the care is good and she is well taken care of. She is in a private room, which she likes. But, she would like them to get new beds and she said that she needs a new mattress.
