All of these places are short staffed but never have I seen so many people who dont care. Nearly everyone is texting, watching movies on their phone and good luck getting anyone to come when the light is on. They just dont care to feed the patients or clean them up. They dont check on them regularly. There are some really nice aids and nurses but you better keep an eye on your loved ones. the building is fine but the staff is what makes the difference. The food is provided in small amounts be prepared to have to bring more. Dont expect the administration there cares to help you-you are on your own.

Rosewood Care Center of Peoria rehabilitated my dad. It was top of the line and got him walking again. However, the people there were sedated, and the staff was mean and seemed like they didn't like their job. My dad felt like they were giving him too much medicine to get him too drowsy or too sleepy. It's the best physical therapy that we could find, but as far as long-term care, the people were sedated, not happy, and didn't talk. They're not treating the people like humans. He says good morning every day, and the lady doesn't say one word. He had three return visits to the emergency room seven days apart. One of the nurses who was new gave him everything that was listed in his chart, even though he doesn't take all of that anymore. He was afraid to go back there. They also lost his clothes. The laundry washes his clothes and he's wearing other people's clothes that are not his.

My sister is now in Rosewood Care Center. I feel that she is getting an excellent care. They are on top on every single problem that occurs. Yesterday, they had a 60-day care plan meeting, and since I live up here in Chicago area, I am on speakerphone, so I am part of the meeting. I think I the staff and the facility are excellent. They have a lot of activities. My sister only goes once in a great while, not often, but when she does, she tells me she has a wonderful time. They have bingo. She tells me she is stringing Cheerios and Fruit Loops on this little wired thing, and they are going to put them out for the birds, because for each room, they have a bird feeder, so they can watch the birds. She likes doing that. She says she is doing it with some music playing. They are talking about the music. They have a party -- I think she calls it a Halloween Party -- but it is after dinner last Friday. From what I understand from the CNAs, she participates in singing. They have a van that will take her to any kind of doctor's appointment. My sister is in a wheelchair and has had a stroke, so her whole left side is affected. Then, she falls and breaks her arm in two places, so she is not really mobile. My sister-in-law will prefer her to go in the van, and then my sister-in-law drives and meets her at the doctors. Then, they put her back to the van and bring her back to Rosewood. They have a podiatrist that comes in once a month. She is very happy there.
