I am/was a resident of this facility

The aesthetics are good. Clean and comfortable. But, the evening and night staff are unprofessional. They will answer your call light at their leisure. I asked the evening nurse for medication at 6:00 pm. I didn't receive any medications or communication as to why she was not responding. I had a 4 day total knee replacement. I went to the nurses station and was told my nurse was at lunch and none of the other nurse's could help me. I was in so much pain at that point I threatened to call 911. The nurse sitting at the nurses station told me to call 911 then. I did. It resulted in another 2 day stay in the hospital. Don't send your loved one to this place.

I do not recommend Warren Barr Oak Lawn. When you walk in, there's two floors. The first floor wasn't smelly. The CNAs would take the diapers out right away there. The second floor, that's where my husband was put in later, smelled a lot of urine as soon as you walked in. The floors were clean though. There were a lot of seniors there and it's so sad. There's this one little old lady in a wheelchair. She's hunched back and her hair was all on her face. She had mucus hanging from her nose, and I would tell them that the lady needs someone to clean her face. They said, "OK, we'll see who could go to her." That's the kind of attitude. Or, "Hey, she's not under my care today," and so and so. If one is out, they don't come in and do what the others should have done, because they're on break or whatever. Matter of fact, they all go on break at the same time. There was one occasion where my husband had bedsores and I kept on telling them if someone could go and change him because he had a bowel movement and the bedsore was right there and he was sitting on it for hours and they wouldn't do anything. They said, "Well, the CNAs are on break." I said, "Can you come there? You are his nurse." She said, "Nope. If you want to, you could change him." So, do not send anybody there. There's some rooms that were broken or cracked or whatever. They need to close that place up. If I could give a rating to the first floor staff, I would give them a four. The second floor staff would be a one rating, and that's being generous. A lot of times I had to get up there, because I was there all day, and I didn't see them feeding him for lunch in the feeding tube or for dinner. I would have to go and drag the nurse to come over and ask, "What happened to my husband's feeding?" They would go, "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah." It's horrible. They charge a lot of money for the poor service they provide. I saw them having activities where some of the residents would go, those who were a little bit in their right mind (a lot of them were in wheelchairs) and they play bingo and have movie nights. It's not every day, but I saw them and that was good. Also, I've seen the speech therapists and one of them was real good with my husband. The other ones said, "No, your insurance is unpaid. So I won't go in there anymore." Where's your heart? For five minutes the speech therapist went in there, even though she wasn't getting paid, and she would stay there with my husband for five or ten minutes and then leave.

The location was clean. The food was decent. The rooms were of a nice size- fit for visitors. The staff was professional and very kind. Upon entering, they were particular about his medication and his possible needs. They monitored his insulin intake quite well. I humorously called one of the night nurses the insulin ninja. He made sure my husband stayed aware of his numbers for the day and the amount of insulin he was receiving ( he was on the assisted living side.) I was not there for the PT he received, but my husband found the therapists reasonably competent. He wondered if he could go there as an outpatient for therapy, but we did not follow up and went another route. I gave the facility four stars only because I discovered that a doctor had come and changed his medications. I was not informed of this. The level of medication he was put back on had caused problems in the past. I blame this on the doctor overseeing his case, not the facility. The one thing I can say is the staff, while competent ( as far as I could see), was small and understaffed. However, having been to another facility and checking around is the case for most nursing homes now. My husband did not get to participate in the activities at the facility because he was not fully vaccinated. He was offered to become so, but due to an emergency issue requiring hospitalization, he did not get the shot then. Overall I would recommend this facility. I felt comfortable with his stay. I visited daily and staggered my visits to see that his care was as it should be.

My mother was transferred there from manor home in arlington hghts around 5 o'clock in the evening. They gave her dinner. Did not give her a walker so she could go to the bathroom, she had no idea where call button was or what room she was in. They just left her there. Fortunately she had her cell phone and she called us at 9 pm to tell us this. We tried calling there, they transferred to the floor. Nobody answered. We tried several times to no avail. I finally got a hold of an operator who said she would transfer me. I told her no because they weren't picking up the phone and my mom had to go to the bathroom. She told me that she would try to transfer me. I told her know again and that my next phone call would be to the police dept. To have a wellness check on there nursing home. She took my phone number and promised to call me back. I said she better because my next call was to the police. My mother said that there night staff was non existent, left her with no walker. Would not answer her call button. She would be basically bed ridin Until her therapy the next morning . No one would respond after that. They wanted her to stay another week. We told them we want her out, got her out and now is doing better today her own . Shame on this place!!!! Day nurses were nice and helpful. She liked her therapist. But you our on your own at night. The Manor needs to count themselves lucky that my mom didn't fall. That's only because they did not get a walker and was stuck in bed all night. Shame on the night crew. We did complain but apparently to no avail. All week she was on her own at night

My mother was at Manorcare of Oak Lawn East. It was a standard rehab and nursing home. They were not terrible, but they were not great either. The food was good. Everything was really clean. It was OK. The workers can be a little more productive.

When my mom was discharged from Advocate Christ Hospital, she was brought here at Manorcare. My dad was also here. I think a handful of the nurses were terrific. Also their social workers were pretty good at what they did. When the need came for my mom to receive hospice care, they hooked us up with a provider. However, some of the nurse's aides were just there for a paycheck. They didn't seem to care and were very inattentive to the patients' needs.

I visited this facility

It was probably the best it could have been. My mother couldn't complain about the service, and the place was very clean. The nurses were thoughtful, helpful, and kind. My mom was in and out of there before a month and she got where she needed to be. It was scary at first, hearing horror stories of certain homes but we were very blessed
