I am/was a resident of this facility
The staff is always very pleasant and smiling. If you need anything someone is always there to help and if they cant they make sure to get someone that can assist you. They make the transition from home or hospital very smooth and truley make you feel that they have your best health interests at heart. I enjoyed my stay there and would highly recommend it.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
Golden Livingcenter had my former husband Frank in a lockdown unit with 28 other patients in various stages of dementia or Alzheimer's. In that unit, they had only one nurse and four aides taking care of all those people. You can imagine the level of care they're given at that time. They were not trained to cope with the emotions of these patients. Frank was only there for five weeks before he passed away. As far as I'm concerned, had he had the proper treatment, he wouldn't end up that way. I did not choose this facility. He was sent there from the hospital. Because he had combative incident with another facility, very few places would accept him. So that's how he ended up there. Golden Livingcenter was a horrible place. I felt very bad for their staff. I don't blame them. I blamed the people that dictate who the employees will be and how much training they would have, etc. If you have 28 people in a lockdown facility with dementia and you only have one nurse and four aides, how can you blame the staff? They did the best that they could. For accommodation, they had the most basic rooms. There was no TV, no phones, not even a lamp, just a bed and a dresser. With regards to food, sometimes they seemed okay but at other times I thought they were disgusting. I also don't think they fed their patients enough. There wasn't even a refrigerator on the floor for things like ginger ale or a bottle of water. I ultimately started bringing in like little cases of bottled water to get to Frank and those disappeared as well. Their idea of social gathering in the afternoon was taking all these 28 people in their wheelchairs and lining them up in an empty room with a TV on and they would just sit there. They didn't even have the most basic things for some of the people like safety belts on their wheelchairs. They would take those people, put them against the wall and then push this large table up against them. Just horrible! It's a horrible place. Don't send anyone there.
