Absolutely a nightmare. Moved my family member after witnessing terrible conditions and practice after new owner took over. Don't put someone you love there!

BUYER BEWARE...This WAS a wonderful place! My Mom and brother were both residents so I have many years of being the "responsible" party. It was great and then it was sold. Now it is just awful. Understaffed, very slow to respond, follow through on medical issues terrible. It no longer carries the Abramson name but runs under first name Horsham.

I am/was a resident of this facility

If you need help with something you sometimes have to wait an hour to 45 minutes. They are constantly running short on supplies-Depends, Linens, items on the daily menu. Speaking of menu the food is not for human consumption. There is some weird spice they put on their food that actually permeates the halls when the food is on its way. They had hamburger the other day and I couldn’t tell whether beef or fish. Many days you don’t get what you ordered. Requesting medication and getting it in a timely manner is unheard of. Since the rooms are private bedside commodes would be helpful to people who have problems with their mobility. Many times you make a request and it is never fulfilled or the employee has forgotten your request. The rooms are very nice. Plenty big and private. T.V. and phone in each room. The staff is very nice and helpful but, I think they are severely understaffed and overworked.

Stay away from this place. If you need to go to the bathroom expect to wait 25-30 minutes. Dont expect to get bathed or shower for 3 days or more. Cold food. They put you in a chair and leave you there all day. If your on Medicare they want you to stay two weeks because that is what Medicare pays for. Aids do everything. Nurses do nothing.

My mother is currently in a nursing home at Abramson Center for Jewish Life. She's been there for a week and a half now. I knew it was a good place because I knew enough friends whose parents have also been in there. I've spoken to the doctor, and everyone's been very nice, very helpful, very willing to talk at any point, and give me information. When I called and explained about an issue, they were able to go in and helped fix it, which was great. There aren't a lot of people in her area because she's still in the 14-day quarantine area, but she's met a few people. She's also not complaining when she calls me, and she is raving about the food. As far as I'm concerned, that was more than I could have hoped for. She's safe, and I'm just happy that we were able to get her in there. Right now, there's not much activity because of COVID. I'm sure once things start up again, they'll have a lot of different things, like she'll be able to play games. The community is clean and well-kept, and everything looked quite nice. I've only gone up to the front door, and it looked like there's plenty of parking.

This place looks lovely at first glance, but do not be fooled. My mother was taken here for rehabilitation after hip replacement and it was one problem after another. First no one reached out to me about visits, when they saw how hard communicating through a window was for us. No one reached out to help my mother work her phone to make calls. They lost both her hearing aids (mind you they did not even put them in her ears for first part of the stay). They then lost her phone. The hearing aides they are replacing. (I am waiting) I have heard nothing about reimbursement of the phone. Since her release the other week, my mother's primary dr. and her pharmacy were not contacted at all about new prescriptions or records of her stay. So now I am scrambling to get the new medications sent to her. The whole process I have had to be involved making calls and emails. This stay has made what was already a stressful time even more stressful. I would never tell anyone to send a love one here for rehabilitation. This is my first review on anything, but felt it too important not to speak out.

Our experience with Abramson Center for Jewish Life is excellent. My mother-in-law seems happy there. She says they're treating her well. We have good communication with them. We have conferences, so they let us know how she's doing. We have Facetimes with her since we can't see her in person right now. It's very, very good.

I visited this facility

Tonight my husband made the transition from a hospital stay to long term care at Abramson. His room is in the D section of long term living. Mary Grace and Tanisha went Above and beyond to make sure my husband's transition was safe, positive and in his best interest. There are not enough words to praise the Abramson Center for Jewish Life, it's staff and the facilities. I am so lucky to have my husband in such a wonderful place. Jackee Swartz

This is a wonderful facility with excellent patient care. My Mom, a resident for the past month, is so happy and so content. Our family is secure in knowing she is safe, secure and we’ll provided for. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is attentive and there is plenty to do to keep the residents active and happy.

My mother lived at the nursing residence for 4 years. Prior to her long term stay she had a short term stay in the rehab facility. My Mom was content. I along with my siblings felt she was safe and well cared for the entire time she lived at Abramson. Whenever we had issues, the staff was very responsive and tried to correct. I always had a good feeling when I entered the facility and when I left after a visit. We researched many places/facilities before we made our decision to place my Mom at Abramson. We made the right decision and felt very fortunate she was accepted and a bed was available for her. They are 100% occupied most of the time. Timing for admission needs to be perfect. Highly recommend

My mom has been at this facility in the rehab unit. Everyday each meal has been not what she has ordered. She is a stroke victim and needs a lot of assistance. She has lost weight because the food they give her keeps getting messed up and she can't eat what they give her. The caregiver staff has been very pour. Each time she has to explain to them she is paralyzed and needs help. Her medicines have been mixed up at times as well. She even had another wandering in a wheel chair patient keep coming into her room invading her privacy despite telling the staff keep him out. He even came into her bathroom and stole her baby powder! Everyday has been one terrible thing after another. We are transferring her to another facility. The staff are incompetent and management doesn't do much to change things. She was in therapy when her dinner was supposed to arrive. She got to her room and no dinner. All they had to give her was a choice of cold sandwiches. She got chicken salad. It didn't taste right she said. Her third mouthful had a big bone in it! That night she ended up throwing up and severe diarrhea. Something was bad in the chicken salad to say the least she could have choked on the bone. What a horrible experience my mom has been put through! I would not recommend this place! It may have been good in the past but it is terrible now. 02/17/2016.

I thought Abramson Center was beautiful. I thought the skilled nursing was superior to any other one that I've seen and it was the best place for skilled nursing or even assisted living. The apartments were very nice but they had very few independent living residents.

We knew Abramson Center had a wonderful reputation. Everybody we knew who had been there or living there was very, very pleased with the place. It's clean, very modern, and relatively new, maybe six years old. When you come in, there's a huge atrium they call the "Town's Square." It's light, it's airy, there's a piano and a nice gift shop there. The place has a very good feel to it. The staff is very good, and they provide a lot of different activities for the residents. However, I was told they're understaffed. My son's friend doesn't have high marks for the food. But maybe part of the problem is it's Kosher food, so I guess it doesn't taste as regular food. It's bland and institutionalized. They don't give them anything with caffeine in it. And for him, that's a problem because of the illness that he has and the medication that he takes. If he doesn't get enough caffeine, he will just sleep the day away.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences here. It helped me grow as a person at a very crucial age and to appreciate the older folks there. They had great stories and experiences to share with the world. The staff there was excellent. Very friendly to the residents and knew them on a personal level. All staff seemed happy to work there and they loved their jobs. The facility is very clean and in a nice, secluded location. Very spacious and comfortable, almost like a small community

The Abramson Center for Jewish Living is a fantastic facility that appears to deliver excellent compassionate care. The accommodations are generous and the building is kept in immaculate condition. The place is much more reminiscent of a brand new apartment complex than an assisted living faculty. Everything from the landscaping to the grounds to the welcoming common spaces contributes to the positive feel. Interactions with staff members show compassion for the residence as well as significant competence. Moreover, the nurses respond instantly to any medical need and are of great assistance in helping to administer daily medication. Residences seem to enjoy the myriad activities available as well as the major event that seems to be planned each and every day. Some examples include arts and crafts, on site hair care and visits to cultural sites such as the orchestra and various museums. In addition, some events are brought to the residents like a small group of singers. I can highly recommend this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

After a 10 day hospital stayy mother was diagnosed with end stage cancer, and in her weakened condition was sent to the rehab section of the Leonard and Madlyn Abramson Center for Jewish Life. After a two week stay, I knew she would be unable to live independently as she required round the clock care. From the minute I entered the immaculate, new, bustling with energy site, I knew that this would be a perfect environment for my mother. Not only did they provide activities on a small scale, they provide musical programs daily, an envirnoment to entertain others, use of a library, use of computers, and lots of support staff that walked around, just cheering residents up. I have been to a few nursing homes in the past, but I have never seen such support to the residents as I had seen in this nursing home. The administrators were all so helpful in making the decision, from the social workers, to the financial officers, as well as the nursing staff, the aides, and even the kitchen staff. For no reason one day, one of the helpers came up to my mother, gave her a big hug in front of me, and told her she was a wonderful person. It still brings tears to my eyes. I guess what I am saying is that there was a personal connection here that I was able to make with each and every individual who I met, and who worked with my mother. The feeling that I was in a place where they physically cared for the building, and had thoughtful approaches to the disposal of foods, trash, and laundry. The nurses came to each room with a floating cart, and they did wonderful jobs. I really can't say enough good things about this nursing facility, and I actually wrote to the head nurse and administrator thanking them for their good care of myt mother.

From the first look at the Abramson Center for Jewish Life, I knew that it was a very different kind of facility, for both rehabilitation and skilled nursing. It is beautifully maintained, with a large open space which is used for various entertainment on a daily basis. There are lots of chairs, good lighting, and the center area is surrounded by a gift shop, a library, a computer center, a synogogue and an a la carte lunch area for residents as well as guests. There is even a large indoor play area for children with toys, and as well as an outside play area. There are many tables and chairs with large umbrellas outside the facility for seating as well as visiting with friends and family. The care that the residents receive is kind and thoughtful, as well as very thorough. Doctors come and go and do examinations on the residents, and it seems that you do not even have to ask for a doctor to come, they are already aware of the problems. The nurses come to the resident's assistance quickly and do what is needed to be done - the residents are not ignored. The residents are clean, dressed properly, and seem to be well taken care of. One of the nice things in the nursing area is that each person has a private room. It provides dignity and the ability for the resident to maintain their own space. My mother refers to her room as an apartment, which makes me think that she likes the facility. The bathroom is large, immaculate, and wheelchair ready. The residents eat together in a sunroom, and it is a pleasant room with lots of light. The food is somewhat bland, but then again, most of the residents are on low sodium diets, so those types of foods tend to be bland. There is a large portion of food on the plate, and it looks freshly made. There are some very nice touches in that the staff serves freshly cooked cookies, just warm from the oven. There are also treats of ice cream, smoothies, and pudding throughout the day.The staff provides entertainment throughout the day, and encourage the residents to participate. All in all, it is a very pleasant facility. It is nicely decorated, immaculately clean, provides all kinds of entertainment, and the staff is very pleasant, and do their jobs in a very pleasant manner. I have been very pleased with the facility, and in fact I just referred a friend to facility, who is pleased as well.
