My father lived there

My father was there for almost a year. He could walk when he as admitted there but they took away his walker and made him sit in a wheelchair from the time he got up until he went to bed. When you first enter the facility it looks very nice, but when you go through the hallway to the rooms you will see alot of patients just sitting in a wheelchair in front of the nursing staff. He ended up not being able to walk from just sitting so much his leg muscles atrophied. I could not get him into another facility because none would take him because he could walk. The seemed to keep him clean and groomed when I was visiting him frequently. I worked about a mile from there and would visit often. The time came when I had to leave the state for work. After that the first time I came back to visist him, I looked for him and douldn't find him. I asked the nurses where he was and one of them said he's sitting right there, (still in a wheelchair in front of their station). My husband and I, neither one of us, even recognized him. He had on someone else's clothes, his pants were not pulled all the way up, no socks, and his hair had grown down to his shoulders, I would give them money for his nails and a haircut or for anything else he wanted/needed so there wano reason for his hair to be that long. He so doped up he didn't even know us. They did not call me to let me know he was sick or anything, just called and told me he "was gone". The biggest regreat I have in my is putting him there. They are so nice when they're talking to you about admission and all it' glories they have there, but it ends there, just talk. If you have a loved one that needs a nursing home I advise you to find someplace else to put them, definitely not at Autumn Care.

I was in Autumn Care of Norfolk. I started on the rehab and went to the nursing care part. The therapy was pretty good, everything about that place except therapy I hated. There were two people in a room, the rooms were crowded, you can hardly even turn a wheelchair around in them. The food was absolutely horrible. The help was terrible. Some were really mean, others didn't really care one way or another what went on, or what happened. There is nothing good about that place.

My husband, a 30 year Vet had a Respite Care stay for two weeks. It was one of my worst experience. I prayed and prayed for him to survive the stay. My husband has Severe Dementia and still can walk (thank God) and since he can, it made it difficult for them. He loss so much weight because they only feed him when they had the time. He came out wirh a bruise on the back of his knee because they didn't change his bandages. Some nights he sit up in chair all night because they didn't put him to bed. I was told by a head supervisor that if he say no, they will walk away. So he sat up all night and the next day in his chair without being changed. They want patients that are confined to their beds. And I'm not sure if that's ok because after moving him into another room, his roommate bang on anything he could, all day and all night. I video everything I could, including all the noise of him roommate.

MY love one and family had a very Bad experience. We shorted our stay because of poor service. The staff communication skills are poor with each other and with family medicine not given properly. Meals were missed.

No complaints! I wish other people would visit other facilities before being so quick to judge...

This facility does not even deserve one star. The staff is not professional. CNA's came into my room almost every night, in the middle of the night, just to turn on the light for no reason. The nurses want another job so badly, they do not take care of the residents like they deserve to be treated. Thirty days was all I could handle in this place. The food was awful! Everything is so dirty and run down. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst nightmare.
