We had a good tour of Churchman Village. My questions were answered. The place, the program they had, and everything looked good. The one-bedroom apartment was good. The size was nice. Everything was great. The person who did the tour was very polite. She answered all my questions and gave me information and brochures. You can get help when you need it and able to be independent at the same time.

I had a good tour of Churchman Village, it was a good visit. I found that it was welcoming to have a resident at the front who greeted me and I had a nice chat with her before I went in for my tour. And it was unofficial, she was not an official greeter, but that gave it a friendly feeling when I first arrived. I was able to see one room, it was spacious and well-organized, and looked like it would be delightful to live in. I got to see the dining room and the area where they have the bingo, games, and activities. I had a tour around the other common rooms on the different floors, I saw the laundry rooms and the patio, and it just looked like it would be a delightful and efficient place to live. They also gave me a schedule of the month's activities. They have efficient and comfortable independent living services. The staff seemed accommodating, cheerful and solution-oriented. With regards to the facility itself, I think it could do with a few more flowers outside to give it a little bit more garden atmosphere as you come up to it.

The woman who took me around Churchman Village was very nice, and very gracious, considering she wasn't expecting me. To me, it certainly seemed there was enough for the residents to do. There was a gym, a very tiny laundry room, and a library. The rooms were very small, though. It had a very tiny kitchen area, although they provided meals. The place is old, so I think it needs some refurbishing. It was also located very near a rail system. So, it just seemed like an odd location.

My husband was in Churchman Village for skilled nursing. They couldn't provide the kinds of services that he needed, but they recognized that at some point. However, because he had to be moved to another facility, which I could certainly appreciate, they did it in a very precipitous way. In fact, without even informing me, they gave me about an hour to say that he has to be moved. And so I found, from an administrative point of view, that was a rather poor experience for me. The staff was very good, very attentive. They had a full schedule of activities. There was bingo, there were drawing classes, reading or storytelling, and there were outings on the property. The upkeep was very good, they were clean and well maintained. His cost there was paid by Medicare. Generally speaking, I think the cost was quite good.

My mother has moved into Churchman Village. The staff was very attentive. It's sort of like a hybrid organization, meaning it's independent living and she has her own one-bedroom apartment, but there is communal eating and the staff is very conscious of whether people show up for meals, so there's some sort of an accountability going on. There are lots of planned activities. They have arts and crafts, they play bingo a couple of times a week, and they have movies in the evenings. They have people come in to do some entertainment, that's been limited right now due to COVID, but that's normally something they have, and then they have transportation that will take them out to like stores and things like that. It's not an assisted living, but what they do allow, if somebody needed assistance, perhaps showering or something, then that individual who has a one-bedroom independent living could hire their own (which is not available through them) who could come in and assist them. During COVID, when it was basically shut down, because they didn't want people in and out, people who were providing assisted living services (and they're hired by the individual themselves) were allowed to come in and perform those functions. So it's sort of like a hybrid. Some of the things are common to everybody, like the communal eating, the meals are all together, and the activities and all that, but the individual things where a person might need help showering, they don't do that, but you could hire somebody outside of the organization to come in and do that.

I toured Atrium at Churchman Village. Once I was inside, it seemed like it's a relatively comfortable place. However from the outside, it's in a kind of an industrial area. It's not very attractive. It also looked like it needed some updating on the interior and outside. The woman who gave the tour was really nice. She gave me the information I was looking for, but I wasn't very impressed with it. I would basically want to try to find an alternative of what I saw there. The facility looks very worn. There were some maintenance issues on the outside. There were some broken light fixtures outside, too.
