I am/was a resident of this facility

Atrocious place. DON'T send anyone here! The rooms are filthy, especially the bathrooms. The CNAs are not trained and mean to the residents. The residents are all depressed and appeared very drugged up. Food is disgusting and the same choices. There is never any snacks. The Nurses are not smart and spend zero time with the residents if they have questions. The Nurses would rather sit around and gossip.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

At age 89 my mother’s residency went from her home to Consulate of NPR in August 2018. She was so blessed to have a variety of wonderful care takers for the last 2 years. From RN’s ( Barbara, Josh, Lenny etc) to CNA’s (Tony, Jessica, Melissa, Roy, Patty, Ann, and many more) they all treated mom like family. Mom was always, always clean, dressed nicely, and they even did her hair up with a ribbon/Bow, sometimes braiding it. Everyone. Was so helpful, and kind to all our family as well.” Any time” we came to visit we were always welcomed. I thank these hero’s for their love and support to her. She passed in August and will be missed by family and her good friends from Consulate.

The Social Worker looks at me like I'm crazy every time I talk to her. Her "evaluation" was all of 5 minutes and ridiculous! I couldn't reach my family member because there wasn't even a phone in her room. When I arrived the first time I waited for about 3 hours to talk to someone . This place is terrible, I don't recommend it what so ever! The residents I did see seemed so drugged up they were like zombies. This place is no good!

Let's start with the top and work our way down. There are great nurses. We have come in contact with several that have helped us so much on our journey. DON Toni who is there and will answer all our questions with a kind heart, Tarena who we see first thing in the morning she always helps with a smile and gave us the information that we needed. The nurses Barbara and Katie who were always running around helping not only our loved one but others as well. Then we have the Jessica's, Patrick, Toni, Patti, and Roxanne that would run up and down the hall helping the residents. Awesome workers team work is what makes this place good. Activities Lisa was absolutely amazing! She is the best the residents love her the most! The food not so good with Medicaid and Medicare cutbacks and of course they cut back on the food so the food can be horrible and the kitchen staff is absolutely atrocious. BUT the DON does get on them and thing have been improving. And although things have changed and some people are no longer with the facility it's still a good place to call home. You have some tender loving staff they treat you like family they love you they care for you and they'll be there for you holding your hand taking care of your loved one. That's what it's all about!

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am currently a resident of Consulate Healthcare of New Port Richey, since November of 2017. This is a PERSONAL avcount of my current stay here. I am only 43 years old, but require, complex long term care, due to a rerminal illness. The staff here is 95% (there are always 1 or 2) outstanding! Considering the ways of the world now, that is truly amazing. I cannot say enough. I consider them to be friends, as opposed to caregivers. Honestly!♡ They sincerely ask about you, say hello in the halls, call you by first name and want to know how you are doing. If there is a concern, any staff member, from any dept. will address the problem or get another staff member who can. That's an everyday, absolute that residents can trust in. The physical therapy department is amazing. The business office is flexible, attentive and caring. The Social Worker is approachable, thinks ahead and takes all worries from you, even in complex situations. The nursing staff is amazung. That coming from a nurse. They care, are expedient and knowledgable. They care for me as I would care for my parents. The DON, Toni, treats me as though i were her son, that well. Personally checking in wirh me and assuring that each department communucates with her as to any progress or degress i may encounter. I haveva very complex medical history, and despite this i have shown progress and it did not discourage the staff here from accepting me and helping my drastically improve! Activities, Delores and Mary are angels! There are more activities than I can possibly do! That department learned my likes, activities and hobbies, and accommodated them all, including utilizing personal means to make sure I was active and happy. The administrator, Dan, has personally, visited me at least twice a month, to ensure that my needs and wishes are met. He, as most all staff here, go over and beyond their necessary functions. The scheduler is outstanding, managing my extremely complex schedule of doctors appointments, hospital stays and diagnostic tests. I am given a list of each appointment, times, transportation and requirements, ahead of time. The visiting physician I have is awesome, as well as his kind and knowledgable ARNP. All of my labs, xray's, ultrasound's and prescriptions are tended to quickly and easily in-house. The fellow residents are kind, friendlyband actually look out for each other and you feel like ypu have that additional safety and friend. The food is moderate, but has recently improved some. That is the only check point I could say could be a little better. The facility is not new, has some "wear and tear", but housekeeping cleans our rooms and all other areas daily, and also care about you, including doing more than required. Don't judge a book by its cover. It's the people that make the difference, and this is where this facility excels. Despite being corporately owned, residents are treated like friends or family and you are addressed by all staff by first name, despite their being a lot of residents. I have made CHC of New Port Richey my home.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Father's room was hardly ever cleaned. It took them more than 10 minutes to respond to his bed alarms, which resulted in him falling 4 times in 3 weeks, and injuring himself (cuts, bruises). Staff was friendly, for the most part. Business office had many difficulties with billing and blamed on their computer. Dining room looked pleasant, but food was fair. Had many activities scheduled in main room, which was nice.

My life has been turned upside down since my wife had gotten sick, She now resides at Consulate New Port Richey and I must say that my depression has been eased by the professional, caring, and efficient care she has received there since she has arrived. I can not say enough about the confidence and competency of the staff at Consulate. Their attitudes have enabled me to sleep much better at night knowing my wife is getting such exceptional care.

My mother is a patient at Consulate of New Port Richey. I am so glad I choose this facility. They care for my mother like she is their family member. The staff is always smiling and working hard to meet her needs. I heard yesterday they became a 5 star building. I am not sure all that goes in to getting this, but for me the great care and love they give to my mom, shows me they deserve the 5 stars, and even more.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This is a for-profit long term care facility that is managed only by the bottom line. The food is not palatable and of poor quality and preparation. I am the sister of the resident and live 2000 miles away keeping daily contact. The care provided rates from decent to poor. Contacting a physician is impossible. I am an advance practice nurse, am on my sisters list for receiving medical information. I do not know her diagnosis, cause of pain, pain management, therapies being provided nor her prognosis. She is kept in the dark and does not speak with a physician due to their absence or peek in the door assessment. I will do my best to have her transferred to a better facility, but finding one that will not continue to starve her to death with their unedible food or give her hap hazard care without a significant care plan

My father was at Consulate Health Care and they were very hands on and they take good care of him. All his needs were provided. He has a physical therapist and speech therapist, because he needed both. We were able to bring him home. They did very well with him.

Mother was there after a leg break...giving her drugs that weren't necessary, fed hot dogs when she needed special diet, made her do physical therapy on arm that had a fistula. Whole place is just dirty and run down.

I visited this facility

I would not recommend this facility if you have a loved one that needs rehabilitation. My father entered the facility and beside not having the physical therapy department pass on the results of his assessment to the nursing department or other staff, they told me to call anytime to find out how he was doing, then avoided my calls and didn't return them when I left a message. I had to ask for a towel and washcloth, which remained in the room seven days. The blinds didn't open, close, nor were you able to put them up nor down. The covering for the wire on the wall for the television was hanging out of the wall. The wastebasket covers were never used, but garbage was put in the can anyway. When I covered the can, the lining was taken out and never replaced. There was a dead bug that stayed under his bed for seven days, so obviously no one was cleaning the floor in that area. He was either not gotten out of his bed to his wheelchair, or he was left in it too long. People would yell down the hall for one another (staff) and say things like, I am glad I am not working tomorrow. I am sure that made the patients feel good. Some of the staff worked very hard and answered lights, and took very good care of my father, but the majority stayed around the nurse's station and just talked. Razors, soap, washing items from other patients were still in the drawers, when my father was there. Plus some of his clothing ended up missing after a few days. He will not be going back there.
